Beast races didn't get the Dawnguard Vampire upgrade

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 4:34 pm

The short version:

Khajiit and Argonian vampires did not benefit from the amazing makeover that other species recieved in the Dawnguard expansion
instead look exactly like they did pre-Dawnguard and were completely left out...

To me the glowing orange eyes are iconic of the Dawnguard expansion, I've been staring at them in every advertisemant for months and have been greatly anticipating upgrading my character to a glowing eyed vampire demon. I had tried to be a vampire before the DLC and I hated how it made my character look, it was not very appealing to me. Then I learn Dawnguard was going to give them a facelift with some amazing glowing eyes too and it totally got me excited to finally be a bloodsvcker. You see, to me the eyes are a feature just like any weapon or quest, they were promoted, emphasized and I want them. Everyone would be freaking out if only Nords could wear Dawnguard armor so please don't try to tell me it was intentional or that beast races are "different" because I've heard that before and I don't believe that's a sufficiently plausible excuse.

After staying up all night long to download the expansion and become a vampire again I'm devastated to find that I look EXACTLY the same as I did in the vanilla game (the way I couldn't stand) and it made my heart sink. The entire DLC is vampire focused and my character is being left out it seems. I can't stand walking around as an outdated relic from an older version of the game, every other vampire looks great, I see their amazing eyes glowing from the darkness and it's fantastic looking, while I stand out like a horker trying to blend in with a pack of wolves. My character who as a sneak archer spends her time in the shadows would look amazing and yet she's denied the glory of the glowing eyes...

Now I'm sitting here with a vampire DLC that I can't stand to play because my character is being neglected. I have no idea if this was intentional or just a glitch but as it is, I'm to the point that I don't even want to play Dawnguard now (I'm even having trouble wanting to play the game period) and I'm considering not buying the next DLC if my favorite species is going to be left out again. If this isn't fixed, I very well may just give up on this game altogether. While I'm aware that I'm raging pretty hard over a seemingly "small" thing, to me it's a huge deal and was one of the things I was actually looking forward to with the add-on.

I'm sitting here with a $20 DLC that I can't enjoy because my immersion just took an Orcish boot to the privates.
If I wanted to be a vanilla vampire, I would have done it before buying the expansion.
I can only hope that it's set right soon.

Please, fix these races because I want to enjoy this otherwise amazing expansion SO badly.

Its because Argonians and Khajiits are beasts, so they have given them beast eyes as opposed to normal human eyes

That is an awful excuse.

If that were true they'd have slitted pupils but they would still have orange eyes.

Why?

Why? They've already developed the other ones which already look good.

They look horrible, not sure if you've ever tried being a khajiit vampire before. IF the original ones looked good, why do you think they bothered to completely revamp every other type of vampire but the beast races? It was likely an oversight, not a design choice.

Unfortunately, I'm 95% certain that this was intended by Bethesda, and they left it as is on purpose. Whether it was too much work to add it to the beast races, or what, I don't know. All I can say is there were complaints on the beta forums and if it wasn't "fixed" for the official release, I'm either assuming: a) They didn't have enough time to fix it before the release and didn't want to push release date back, or b ) It was working as intended.

If that's true, I'm just going to stop playing.

No reason to buy anymore DLC when my preferred species isn't going to get the attention just because of race. The damned orange eyes are practically a selling point of the DLC, not giving them to everyone is [censored].

Odd, those are the eyes I had before the DLC and the ones I get now for being a vampire lord... I just want the orange glowing ones.

I'm tempted to start a non-beast race just so I can have them but isn't that lame to have to abandon an entire species because of a bug? (I hope its a bug)

Why are you going to abandon a character just because of something that actually isn't a bug. I believe beth intended for the beast race vamps to keep their old vanilla vamp eyes. It's no bug. And im actually glad they did it that way. The eyes to the beast races are different anyways from the human and elf races, so i can see why their vampire eyes won't look the same (after all there vamp eyes didn't look the same as the human and elf vamp eyes in vanilla so why should it look the same in dawnguard?).

Besides, it's nice to have a vampire that still looks vanilla like, in the skyrim world of dawnguard style vampires.

I have a Khajiit vampire who still looks physically the same as she did in vanilla skyrim, but i don't care, im not going to abandon her just because she doesn't have the same glowing eyes that other vamps do. What's cool about it though is that it makes her unique, after all, even in vanilla skyrim vamp eyes were different from each other depending on race, so at least some of that has passed over into dawnguard.

To me, the glowing epic eyes are a feature of the DLC. A feature that is advertrised over and over. The telltale sign of a Dawnguard vampire is the cool orange eyes. I want to make use of that and enjoy it as much as I enjoy it on every other character in the game.

I was never able to enjoy being a vampire in the vanilla game because I hated how it made my character look, so once I heard that Dawnguard was giving vampires a makeover I got excited. I wanted to look like the Dragonborn on the advertisemants and have cool glowing eyes. Then I find that my vampire was either neglected or bugged out and looks exactly the same as it did before, the way I couldn't stand.

So now, I'm stuck with a $20 DLC I don't want to play because my evil character looks like crap. It totally kills my immersion when everyone around me has glowing eyes and I look like some glitched out relic of a past version of the game. I'm not going to join the Dawnguard because my character wouldn't do that. Plus, I really don't buy the whole "beast races are different" excuse people have for justifying leaving them out. Sure, they have different eyes but if EVERY vampire has glowing eyes, one could reason that every species would. Khajiit eyeballs aren't made of some different material that's resistant to the glowing effect, they simply aren't being included for no good reason.

The entire DLC is focused on being a vampire and my character svcks as one, leaving me totally uninterested in playing it.

Actually EVERY non-beast race vamps have those glowing eyes, but that doesn't mean beast race vamps have to have them. But i can't change your mind, so ill just leave it at that.
