Becomming UnBanned From casino

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 4:50 pm

There was some talk about devs planning on "an inconvenience" happening in the casinos to prevent the "win-save-lose-reload-win-save" exploit (at least to a certain degree) at some point, IIRC. They didn't go into specifics, though, just mentioned it in a "wink wink" kinda way. What it could be (if it even made it in) is just guessing... Saving prevented in casinos, attendance fee for the tables and/or for the chipexchange, there are possibilities.

Maybe...or it could be they were refering to the fact you get banned if you win too much...that would be pretty inconvenient if you were save/loading your way to a fortune.

people are complaining about being banned from casinos, but think about it, you have to be REALLY lucky to win that much money, and plus there are a TON of casinos all over the mojave wasteland

Dang I thought I read that someware. Well guess I wont be gambling much. Why play a game when you know the house will win eventualy? I guess high luck would turn the odds in your favor. But then its like a free cash machine. What fun is that?

Is there any info on the game they created? Hopefully thats not just another game of chance.

Yes, it is similar to blackjack in many respects, so if you can count cards well it will give you an edge.

Could be. Although, I think the wincap was known at that point already so there wouldn't have been reason to paint a mystery "inconvenience" over it.

I figure someone will eventually mod it out or so high that it won't matter if people start to view as an important issue.

Your banned from GAMBLING at the Casino if you got banned for gambling and winning too much.

So the only reason to go to a casino after your banned is to have six with fisto?

Honestly, you'll probably be able to avoid it if you just don't win too much at once. If you follow a pattern like win a thousand, don't come back for a week or two, win a thousand, I imagine you'd be fine.

What is the point?

So you can amass 100,000 caps using the save exploit?
Why not just type in a cheat in the console that gives you caps? (I'm sure there is one)

Honestly, unless you are cheating I really doubt you're going to get banned - with the slight possible exception of blackjack.

It was alluded to in an earlier interview that you could do something to get back in the casinos to gamble. I don't think he said what you can do.

In any event, I play on the PC, and it will be modded to take care of this issue, if there is not an in game mechanism, after I play the game a couple times.

It was stated by one of the developer interviews that you will only be banned from gambling at the casinos not from eating or spending money in them.

My guess is that you will only get banned if you win too much money in a really short amount of time. If you don't over do things (winning 5000 chips in a single week), then I guess you will be fine.

I just wanted to let all you guys know that in this http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/29981 The Tops Floor Manager clearly says this

"You're free to enjoy the shows and the bar, but no more games for you at the Tops. Thanks for playing."

So it's confirmed you can step foot in The Tops. But the rule might change in other casinos.

It would seem that it is cumulative and not a separate occasion denomination. Halfway through the interview http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/29981 you see that 2000 chips "breaks the bank" and results in a ban. He also mentions the running counter of total chips accrued at each casino.
It may have changed through production, but that is pretty unlikely, so i guess now would be the time to get used to it.

Well Spotted, I've seen that video and I didn't even remember. 2000caps for a casino seems pretty light weight to me, hopefully some of the casinos will have higher limits.

I thought 2000 caps seemed low as well, and maybe your hopes will be well founded.

Is it possible to finish the game WITHOUT playing the casinos? Can't you rob a bank or caravan or something? because I don't fancy them much - a LOT of preview time has been given up to "look! we've got working routlette wheels!"... erm... so? If I wanted to play cards I'd fire up Solitaire...

CUMULATIVE?!?! THAT'S BULSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Sorry. Had to get that out. But seriously, this means that, over your ENTIRE time at a casino, if you earn 2000 chips, it's ban-4-u. ENTIRE TIME. No waiting a few weeks, it won't matter.

The ONLY way I could see this work out well is if it was 2000 chips in the bank at one time, but allowing you to CASH OUT the chips for money. ^_^

2000 seems low, but if you count up the other casino's, (six I think?) it goes up to 12000

Bump: So now that the game is out i would like to know how or if you can be unbanned? Im pretty much banned from every casino that i know of in new vegas. These establishments serve no purpose for me if im banned for life in which i will show up with .308 and riot shotty and loot the place. ;p

2000 max doesn't sound right since I just began the game and bearly finished the tutorial and currently have 1600 caps. By the time I get to New Vegas the casinoes won't be that much.

Then again, they might just have been lying, like they lied about there being new hairstyles in the game.

Sorry but I have to say this why are people complaining about being banned they are Casinos of course you would be banned if you keep winning ALL the time for someone to win all the time by saving I agree they should ban people. just play them normally then you will not get banned so fast. You can make money from caravan anyway so what is the big deal with being banned more then likly from all 7 Casinos you would of netted a huge amount of caps from their limits. That is just from the Casino's alone lets not forgot all the Armor, junk and weapons that are around the wasteland to sell as well and people and safes to steal from to get money...
