Bethesda should pursue the Knights of the Old Republic Franc

Do you speak English? I'm confused by your confusion. They have expressed so much interest that they actually made the game already.
That game isn't a continuation by a conventinal sense, afaik it is set hundred of years after the single player games and doesn't continue the story (second hand information by the way).

I don't see how Bethesda is anything like a good fit for KoTOR. As it has been said, Bethesda's strength is in their open worlds. How would this translate to a franchise that spans an entire galaxy. Would we have a Skyrim-sized map set on a single planet? In that case, what's the point of it being a Star Wars game? Or would they break it up into a bunch of smaller maps set on different planets? In that case, it seems like it wouldn't be significantly more "open world" than a Bioware game, only without Bioware's quality of writing (ME3's ending notwithstanding).

Because it's already been developed and released. They would be taking people away from TOR.

They already developed KOTOR 3...... It just happened to go from single player to a MMO, but it's the same series. Insteasd of KO TOR, it's just TOR. Do you not realize that?

MMO, it is loosely based of the single player franchise. Look Online Elders, and we have Skyrim. There is lego star wars, and clone wars. The point is the title available for development, under another publisher.

But it's not available though. They are using the KOTOR universe for TOR. It's all there. It would not make sense for anyone to have TWO different series based in the same universe with the same back story. The customer base would be split. It is in Bioware's best interest to hold onto KOTOR since they're using it in TOR, and maybe they will make another single player game down the road, but that's for them to decide.

Besides you're so worried about Mass Effect, but I'm pretty certain they've said they have no intention to continue the series. Mass Effect is done. Forever. Therefore should they decide they want to do another Star Wars game, rest assured they'll have plenty of people to focus on it.

TOR ended the KotOR franchise, just as WoW ended the Warcraft franchise. There isn't going to be a KotOR 3 by anybody, especially Bethesda.

Technically so is Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy,

if Bioware doesn't intend to make more sp games it is better for us if they sell the rights, but it is better for them to hoard it, meaning that it is their whim if we get a new one.

Basically what you said.

You think WoW ended Warcraft? I think they could pull off Warcraft IV if they wanted to. But they are busy working on their second MMO (World of Starcraft? :P)

WoW ended the Warcraft franchise as it defined the genre in a way it's parent games never did. Warcraft 3 was never going to be hailed as the single greatest RTS of all time.

ToR on the other hand was panned, it's parent games were financial and critical successes, I don't see why they wouldn't consider eventually going back to SP.

Galaxy is expansion friendly, instead of squeezing a new patch to explore, you can leave to multiple worlds that are faction specific. Imagine traveling to a system comprised of races supporting the empire. Or desolate systems ran by the Hutts and criminals, that you join. The bounty hunters practicing their rites in a compound on a densely wooded planet (Joinable) etc. It would be a open world you can freely travel to negotiatie, pursue, hunt, train, save, and lead (rebellion).

If the rights transferred away from EA Bioware then possibly, but otherwise I don't see it happening.

That is basically what Bioware does. That's their thing, plus epic stories.

Bethesda would probably get crap from their fans for the world(s) being a Bioware rip, and crap from Bioware fans for a sub-par story.

No thanks. If for whatever reason Bethesda were doing a KoTOR sequel, they need not apply the same exact style of gameplay as all of their other games. It doesn't hurt to branch out and try new things, especially if you're working with a property that isn't your own and has its own style that fans would come to expect of a sequel.

The original is to restrictive and linear. It needs to be newly realized, and accurately encompass the vastness of the history around KOTOR. This requires a larger in-game world to come close to capturing the essence of the Star wars franchise, not just the game. Finally development capabaility has caught up with the ambition of Lucas's vision.

Would be an entertaining game if the quests were like the guild quests in Skyrim.

They stopped development because they did not meet the expectations, and hold interest of the market under them. So they refused to develop anymore.

So very incorrect you are.
