Bethesda should pursue the Knights of the Old Republic Franc

A beth style starwars game could be cool, on the other hand I wonder how they would pull it off.

I would also like a new kotor, but in my opinion it should be similar to the original, so I think either Bioware or Obsidian should make it.

I had no idea some random dude on the Internet knew exactly what Bethesda needs to do. Quickly Beth! Better get this guy! He knows his stuff!

What are your sales projections, do think it has the potential to outsell all of their current franchises, developed under Bethesda.

I cannot endorse this idea. A KotOR game that plays like Skyrim would not be what I'd want out of a KotOR game at all.

They stopped development because they did not meet the expectations, and hold interest of the market under them. So they refused to develop anymore. Bio pursued Mass Effect development instead. Obsidian was not the right publisher for it ever, being a newer upcoming development team. The original is the Landmark. The franchise has been bleeding for a matching medium the could meet the expectations of its universe, under the right development team. Bethesda is the pioneer of realized in game worlds. It is inevitable. It is just like we knew Pierce Bronsan would one day be Bond (007).

You need to have more than a buisness icon to know the buisness in this industry. Compare Fallout and Skyrim, they have two different feels, but share some mechanics and world structure. The feel and immersion of KOTOR, will be different but similar advancement, and exploration features. The greatest simlarity would be in scope. KOTOR history and lore exceed the Elders series. The books are never ending. Under Bethesda this would the most rewarding investment and venture they ever made. This will outsell their current franchises in the first month.

We get it. You love Bethesda. I liked the way the KotOR games played and don't care to play a single-character, first-person version of it with Bethesda's style of storytelling and character advancement. Of course it would sell. That's not my point.

It is win win if Bethesda can blame Lucas Arts for rushing them leaving bugs in the game.
Don't care for Star Wars anything anymore.

Bethesda needs to consider developing KOTOR, as a new franchise on the XBOX 720, and seal a deal of exclustivityor partial to cut development cost. Microsoft foot some of the bill and both parties have a successful launch of new hardware and software. If partial exclustivity all other next gen consoles will salivatating until the next launch. Sales for both companies will set records. Bethesda should start fresh on the new consoles. Then followup in the spring and holidays with their known franchises when the nostalgia disapates from KOTOR and system launches, to rekindle the excitement.

Without your purchase it will not hurt profit or customer contentment. Are you the guy who voted for fixed seats during mechanical failure, when we have the capability to design a way to get passengers off a aircraft safely.

Obsidian were right for the job at the time. KoToR gets sold short so badly it isn't funny. It may not be as good as the first, but it is still a good game.

BUT, BioWare/EA own the rights to the Knights of the Old Republic and will do so for atleast as long as the MMO remains profitable.

Sounds like you want M$ to buy Bethesda. Also EA rarely gives their games for others to develop.

EDIT: I hate how friendly Bethesda is getting with M$ lately and KOTOR being a Xbox exclusive game is horrible.

Why do I care about profits for Bethesda or Lucasarts? I'd only be playing the game, so I'm interested in a game I'd want to play. That means that I don't want KotOR to be like Skyrim. Why are you so interested in making money for Bethesda and Lucasarts?

Oh, and no, I have no idea what you're talking about as far as fixed seats or how it's relevant to this discussion.

I did not get it. Bethesda is perfect for KOTOR development. Remember white collar knows projections not the feel of the market entirely. Millions asking for it means millions of dollars-it is that simple. Finally Bethesda will be one of the first to truly provide their market (US), what they want is to give you money for a product they already want , but we have no product.

BioWare have the rights to the KOTOR franchise. They aren't giving it up anytime soon. It's just not happening.

I got the metaphor. It only applies if everyone besides me would rather see a Skyrim-style KotOR made by Bethesda rather than one more similar to the original made by someone else. I seriously doubt that's the case. I could be wrong, but neither of us has the ability to back up our claims, so there's really no way to argue it.

I don't think Bethesda's style fits in with the things that made the original KotOR a great game. Obviously you disagree...since it's opinion we'll just have to agree to disagree. There's no doubt that it would sell. Almost anything that says "Star Wars" on it sells well even if it's not a stellar product.

Development for the games you even love cost money to develop. No profit , No franchise to love.

Bethesda we need a break from our loved franchises except in the form of DLC, So you can finally develop a Knights of the Old Republic with the polish, and mechanics of Skyrim.

Demand is there, Bethesda is the one to supply the quality needed.
