Millions asking for it means millions of dollars-it is that simple.
Snakes on a Plane, your argument is invalid.
But seriously, it's not that simple. It costs nothing to declare your support for a game/movie online. Whether these people will actually pay cashy money for it is another story.
I just can't see KotoR/Star Wars being a good match for Bethesda's "great open world/shallow characters/shallow character interactions/shallow story" style. Those games have always seemed to be about character and story. Why would you ever think that Beth could do a good job with them?
But then again, the same could be said about the Fallout series and Bethesda. Some oldies might complain, but FO3 and FNV turned out pretty well imo.
That said, I'd rather see Obsidian take another crack at it. Those guys are awesome.
Why would Bioware sell it? How would they benefit? You really don't understand how companies work. That kind of stuff just doesn't happen, they'd be better off keeping it and NEVER using it than letting someone else benefit from it.
Don't know specifically about KOTOR, but it
does happen. The most obvious example here is Fallout.
WoW ended the Warcraft franchise as it defined the genre in a way it's parent games never did. Warcraft 3 was never going to be hailed as the single greatest RTS of all time.
I don't know, it may not have reached the heights of WoW, but Warcraft III is still pretty influential. I know a bunch of people who still play WC3 regularly, and these aren't hardcoe gamers either. Go into any cybercafe and three-quarters of them will be playing WC3 (specifically, DotA). And for me personally I'm still comparing any small-scale fantasy RTS to WC3.
