Bethesda ! Stop Removing the game !

Post » Sat Aug 11, 2012 2:30 pm

Some people just prefer the simpler action-adventure experience. They just want to dive into a gameworld and get straight to the action, without really worrying about character development.

That's what's wrong with the world.

As long as it takes to get the idea across.

When I'll see some Bethesda interview about that near TES 6.

I don't know what bothers me more. The the removal of features or the changing of features whichs dumbs the game down something fierce.
-Item scaling after Morrowind.
-Level scaling after Morrowind.
-Guild system after Morroind.
-Stolen item system after Morrowind.
-After Morrowind you can't kill Essentail NPCs.
-In Skyrim all races and sixes have the same strength and speed.

And lets not forget the features we can't turn off. Like the compass and the gimmickcam.

A friend of mine loves the GTA series, but won't even touch San Andreas because he finds the added RPG elements off-putting.
Is he still your friend?

You can't have an RPG with out any kind of character development. Skyrim is a hack and slash, I don't think adding weapon and armor variety will make the game experience too hard.

Well you can always look on your map. Removing the compass can help with immersion.

I think you can by turing off the H.U.D, but if you're not playing on the PC. That's the only way you can.

Now I just got a question:

Can someone answer ?
How do the TES games and the Fallout games are released ?
Are they developed in the same time ?

Well I PERSONALLY really hate the Fallout series and I'm wondering..

I hope they add a hardcoe mode that disables the in game map. So the only map you can use is the IRL map that comes with the game or the maps they have laying down on tables in the game.

Meh, each to their own I guess. Not everyone has to like RPGs.

The problem isn't so much that lots of people out there can't/don't appreciate RPGs. It's that TES is supposed to be an open-world RPG series... and should therefore be aimed specifically at fans of open-world RPGs.

What Bethesda have done with Skyrim is they've tried to make it appeal to everyone with a games console or gaming PC. The end result is a popular game, but a poorer open-world RPG than it's predecessors.

Agreed. I'll admit, the map they have in Skyrim is pretty and all and cool, but it's kind of hard to immerse into your character. And by the Gods, the ROADS! WHERE ARE THEY?!

That's exactly the problem.

Here's an example I posted earlier of the differences between Morrowind and Skyrim's journal entries... and how Skyrim often forces the player to follow markers:

Spoiler

Morrowind:

"Edryno Arethi knows that the ship Prelude sunk east of Bal Fell. She believes it lies two or three islands due east of Bal Fell. I must find the Daedric Wakizashi that sunk with that ship and return it to Edryno Arethi."

Skyrim:

"Find Pantea's Flute"

*Magic marker then appears showing you the location of Hob's Fall Cave, and upon entering the cave, a magic marker will guide you to the flute's precise location*

Personally I don't use this idiotic magical arrow.
If I find the place , I just search it.

The problem is, the more they remove the larger the market they reach and the more money they can make. I can see the future of this series...and I don't like it much

My biggest problem about the map is that it's hard to read. Because it uses a weather system. Lets say there is a cloud on the area you want to look at. It makes it difficult to see. I love how the people in Skyrim have Google Nirn.

I like the in game map that Oblivion uses. It looks like a real map and it shows the raods.

Exactly! I actually often forget that Skyrim's "journal" is supposed to be a journal. Its only purpose seems to be magical arrow toggle-r.
