If Bethesda hadn't removed the Sarcasm skill, you would know.

Curse you Bethesda!

I want to be skilled in the art of nudity.
Sounds like an awesome skill. :user:

A short summary of this thread:
"Let's whine about how things have been removed, ignoring all of the things that have been added and blame everything on the evil race of 'casuals'. Clearly we know more about how to design a game than Bethesda, and only hardcoe RPGers should be allowed to play Elder Scrolls games."

Let's assume for a moment that TES is being 'streamlined for the casuals': then continue on, Bethesda! I'm liking this new direction, so keep it up.
Skyrim doesn't feel like an RPG any more, and the RP experience is why I played previous ES games. But instead they've turned Skyrim into a hand holding tutorial on orienteering giving you no directions and instead a Dovahkiin GPS and a Google Nirn device in your huge rucksack.

I'll tell you what. I would rather have a GPS in my car when I take a trip rather then some vague directions some random person gave me.

I'd much rather NPCs mark locations on my map than give vague, inaccurate directions.
Quest markers are completely optional too. I don't understand why people refuse to open up their map every once in a while ...

But Skyrim hasn't really had a technological revolution yet, I mean there's no guns let alone electricity.

You know, that might actually be a good idea. Would make good for a sarcastic bard.

I wouldn't mind just markings on the map but tbh they don't even do that it instead just magically appears, as well you have some magical compass built into your eyes telling you what direction to go. And objects inside caves are marked so if we didn't have quest markers on it would be impossible to find without any directions.

I never noticed that the Cursed Ring of Hircine was automatically equipped. I was able to take it on and off at will. I was even able to give it to a follower. I never wore the thing.

I never use the quest markers, and have no problem.

Skyrim's caves aren't particularly confusing as there is usually one route to the end where usually the thing your looking for is perched on a table in the centre of the room almost impossible to miss.

I find that pretty annoying. I like looking for stuff that is harder to notice.

You just said without markers things would be impossible to find without directions. I'm confused now.

I meant for more generic quests and side quests that didn't involve one route caves and where the thing you were looking for wasn't at the end and instead in a chest. As well not just in caves, it can be in the open world what you are looking for.

Not only that. But your objective usually ends near an exit or a path close to the entrance.

The game's journal doesn't usually give any directions if any. This is why it is hard to go the right direction, most likely. I wouldn't mind the journal at least saying where the quest came from. Did it come from Whiterun or Morthal? There's a step in some direction.

You could get rid of the compass and use your map. And some people actually did give me directions. Well actually it was quest-givers that gave me directions. Farengar and

Camilla when you do her brother's quest

And there's almost always a GENERIC LOOT CHEST ™ just before the exit.

And no http://morrowind.bonusweb.cz/obrazek/ee_fatlute.jpg. I feel the lack of phat lutes is making the games too actiony and less about music.

Oblivion is pretty cheap used. I was able to find it easily, at least. It was my first TES, though.
