I'm really excited, we've definitely gotta play co-op as soon as it's released, along with other members I'm sure.

This is 2012's equivalent of Skyrim for me :ahhh:
Oh, we definitely will, as long as they don't go back to the port issues they had :P haha

No magazine today :(

What's that? No, it's not unreasonable to expect the magazine to come within 6 hours of the announcement... the post office just needs to invest in some teleporters.

MAN!.. I was just going to make a Borderlands 2 topic. Always.. lol.

Anyway, I played the living CRAP out of the original Borderlands. I even had all the add-ons (except the Claptrap one). Almost all the achievements as well. Once I found previews and screenshots of the game I was intrigued.

PLUS, my local Meijer Store had it on sale for 40$. And it just so happened that I had a 40$ Gift Card from X-Mas. (Pretty much got it for FRIZEE!) :intergalactic:

Just got wind of B2 today... I thought my lil bros cousin was lying but he showed me you could already pre-order on GameStop.com. Can't wait for this one wonder if it'll be more players in co-op? (6 instead of 4 maybe?). Crapton more weapons obv. But more Character/Classtypes to choose from instead of just 4. Catch my drift? XD

Def. a game on my list for next year, next to HALO MOTHAF***ING 4!!!

In a single sentence:

RPG with humor and lots and lots of freaking guns.

In detail:

It's a self-described Role-playing shooter. Story kind of takes a backseat to humor and old-school RPG-style looting everything that's not nailed down for the sake of getting your next shiny, possibly flame, acid, explosive, or electricity-shooting gun. Guns are generated using a procedural generation system that randomizes stats and things like sights, etc, on the guns so you will never get the exact same gun twice. Also, there's an enemy called Mutant Midget Psycho. Just throwing that out there.

totally psyched for Borderlands 2. i always felt like the biggest problems with the original game stemmed from the fact that it wasn't 100% designed around the art style - there were still a lot of weird remnants of the previous game, odd choices in level design, and the tone was kind of conflicting at times. i'm positive Borderlands 2 will be a general improvement in most areas.

the biggest things i'm hoping for right now are more variety in weapon generation, as far as the way things look, feel and act (like, say, the idea of the bee-loaded revolver that was going around before release), and a bit of procedural generation for the areas in between points of interest. adding a bit of variety to each playthrough would do wonders for keeping the game fresh for just jumping in and starting a game with bros.

I hope their's some form of character creation, I'll take a basic form of either male or female for the classes and colors. Even though the game is 99.9% of the time in 1st person I could never attach myself to the other 3 classes besides Siren. Speaking of Siren I hope that's back in Borderlands 2.

I'm sure it will be since Sirens existed outside of Lilith. Check out Commander Steele's markings on her body.

So, will we be seeing some old characters? As NPC's? And will we finally go in the Portal, or will this game be a complete different story?

Anyone experiment with Roland using a sniper rifle? I've got a heavy machine gun for close and medium range and a decent three round burst machine gun (not very accurate, but it'll do). How would a sniper rifle work? I'm sure with the right skill point loadout, it would work fine. I've got the added magazine size (and a class mod that also helps that) so I turned a 6 shot sniper into a 9.

I think it would work out alright. Gonna experiment.

Roland is kind of the jack of all trades character, so he works decently with nearly any weapon. I've used them with him in my early levels (mostly because I found a Surkov with more long range DPS than any other combat rifle at that level), but now I generally prefer using semi-automatic combat rifles for long range work.

So wow. I just started playing Lilith for the first time today and I think she's my new favorite character. Phasewalk is just plain overpowered even without an artifact. I just did Sledge's safehouse and I managed to take out the group of 4 or so enemies at the very beginning by just charging in and using Phasewalk. All of them except one guy died from the combination of two phasewalk bursts and a random nearby corrosive barrel. The last guy I just took out with a melee attack and a shotgun blast. Can't wait to see what she's like when I actually get decent weapons and skills.

I still haven't gotten my magazine in the mail yet, and while I'm trying to avoid reading any details online until I get it, I'd assume that the details are on the Gearbox forum by now, if you guys didn't already look there.

I just ordered this game off Amazon.

How long can I expect to get out of it with purely singleplayer? (I know it's mainly multi)

All of the content can be done either solo or co-op with your friends being able to jump in at any time. It's a lot like Fable 2-3's co-op without the massive piles of svck.

Singleplayer without the DLC is still pretty long. The last time I played it by myself was way back when it first came out in 2009, and even then I played the later half in co-op. But if I had to guess I'd say 20-30 hours is a good estimate, and that's not counting the time spent gun farming. But quantity doesn't necessarily equal quantity, as you already seem to know. In my opinion the difference between loving the game and hating the game is whether or not you play it in co-op (with someone you know irl or online, not somebody you found in the games matchmaking), and even the most boring sections of the game are fun if you're playing with someone else.

I just don't have any form of cables in front of my house :/.

But that's a good thing. Should provide me with a lot of fun. I get fun out of Battlefield 2, and I've never been able to play that online.

20 to 30 hours seems good. Better length than most other shooters. And for the rest...I still ejoy Battlefield 2.
