I was just talking about this the other day with a co-worker, wondering what happened to it..well now I know. Looks pretty awesome, probably gonna pre-order.

I normally hate FPS games, because they're so generic and formulaic. I love how Borderlands goes completely against the grain and just does things right.

1.) Gearbox realise that EVERYONE loves loot. Therefore they focus a lot of the game around getting the best gun possible.

2.) Great tongue in cheek humour

3.) Awesome graphic style

4.) Best team based combat out there.

1) I am increadibly glad to see not everyone has forgotten split screen.
2) I will be pre-ordering this purely to show support of the style (both graphically and gameplay wise)
3)I now have to get #1 and all the DLC (only played a couple of em)
4) I will now have to get back to gold live membership
5) Suffca and Antibody, I expect you to be there!

That being said, did they revamp the "ghost" chick into a more realistic person?

More guns then last time? More then 3.7 million? Hot dog, the peeps at Gearbox must be going mad with that gun-creating AI of theirs.

...the hell? I didn't die, I just got quiet for awhile. Jeez I didn't think you would abandon me that fast

Anyway I've been wanting to get back into BL1 for awhile, I'm glad that there's a large interest in it still, I hate playing alone.

Anybody else pumped?!

Yes!

I really like what they're doing with the guns this time around. Each brand will have a specific advantage point and aesthetic.

Also, an actual story would be nice.

This has got me hankering to play Borderlands again... !

A non-DLC storage system. I really liked the Bank in the Underdome, but a main game storage system would definitely be preferable.

Is the pc version also getting a split-screen option? I could only find 1 article that seems to confirm pc split-screen but it was based on an old interview.

Please say yes...

I don't really like the classes but the date's perfect, will probably have extra money that I can afford to spend on Borderlands 2 and yes I agree the game needs a main storage unit like the bank in the arena DLC.

They make the best game trailers, I swear. Makes it look awesome. If the PC version has split-screen, hubs & I are going to have to get a 2nd pc-xbox controller so we can play together on the big TV. That would be AWESOME.

Also...how can I not love a company that uses the word "joypuke" in their trailer?

Bonus: Axton is hot.

BAJILLIONER.

I saw this yesterday and am glad we have a discussion thread already. That trailer... omg... aoshgosgs... needless to say I'm already joypuking my head off. It was so epic! Literally from start-to-finish epicness. The characters the guns the everything looks better than I could have hoped.

I see there are two gun-based classes, so I wonder how that will work out and if the berserker was implemented into another class or omitted altogether. Gun, melee, magic, sniper seemed like a good diverse team but I trust what Gearbox is doing. But sadly, it seems like the assassin will be the overused character again. I mean, who WOULDN'T want to be badass sword-wielding cloak ninja named Zer0? Like BL1 I'm probably gonna join 100 games where 3 or 4 people are this guy, including myself. Not thrilled the soldier is making a return (as I thought the gunzerker was taking his place) but like I said I'm sure it'll work out.

And the guns... oh the guns! Atlas isn't in this game which was my favorite manufacturer but there's now gun customization not to mention insanely enhanced aesthetics.

[censored] I'm excited

You mean the Siren? And by realistic you mean not in flames and insanely overpowered? Then yeah, her style is a bit different. From what I understand they took the "controller" tree from the first siren and blew it up. She can phaselock people (when upgraded targets multiple people) which suspends them and impairs them. She can use it on enemies or on allies to heal them. She seems more like a support character than damage dealer. I think her specialty is still SMGs

IGN's Rewind theater of the trailer has some interesting info in their narration.
http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/02/22/ign-rewind-theater-borderlands-2-doomsday-trailer

--They're technically all still guns characters, btw, just like in Borderlands1. The Beserker did just fine with guns, for example, if you wanted to play that way.
--Zero's skill is just different than Mordeci's bird. Zero does not get to modify/find/equip swords, for example...I'd assume that's his default melee weapon. Zero will apparently have a sniper tree.
--The Commando's turret is going to be somewhat different from the Soldier - it'll have short, medium and long range "builds" (including one option, apparently, to be able to "toss it/activate it" at a distance location instead of right at your feet).

I get the impression there will be less skill focus on specific weapons for specific classes, but there may still be a little in there. But hard to say until we have complete character skill trees. Could be a while still. 7 months to go.

True true but you know what I mean, as far as specialties go. Berserker was rockets (more of explosives than guns IMO) and shotgun, which soldier and siren were also proficient at so w/e. Anyway upon some further reading on Gearbox forums and such, I can confirm your assumption that they're taking out this class-gun specificity (soldier:ARs, shotguns/Siren: SMGs, etc) albeit the assassin and his sniper tree, and focusing more on new abilities. Sounds interesting. Sounds like this is where the new turret features you mentioned come in and where these classes differ from the old. I so badly don't want Zer0 to be a regurgitated Mordecai. *crosses fingers*

Anddd no new swords. Not really a problem b/c they did a pretty good job of making it look BA already, but I'd like to see some skills/abilities if not a whole tree surrounding it.

camo->slice->camo->slice->headshot->camo->slice... :cool:

Was Mordecai really that popular? I never played MP (here's hoping the PC version of BL2 will have a better MP service), but for myself I couldn't manage to get into him. Honestly, I have a hard time playing anyone but Lilith. Between how overpowered she is, and being the hot chick, I would have expected her to be the most common character.

Mordecai was my favorite by far. Conversely I couldn't get into Lilith or Brock.

I'm in the same boat. While each class had 3 different trees, Mordecai was the only one that I felt had a huge amount of flexibility. Unfortunately he wasn't all that strong on his own, but if you paired him up with a good group of friends that can take all the damage for you, the sniper/critical skills would make him an absolute powerhouse.

Tomorrow, any of you guys up for some BL1? I'm free all day till about 6pm EST. Xbox only unfortunately.
