Clarifying blog post on Bethesda Blog

Great news! Yay!

I think this whole episode of how a misquote can attract just as much attention as an accurate quote. It goes to show that interviewers/reporters will leap on even the smallest misunderstanding and spin it all out or proportion, no matter how wrong it is.

It seemed the only people going wacky over the "quote" were people who jumped into the threads without reading anything but the first post. Many level-headed members had already completely debunked the so called quote.

And it was repeated many, many time, and more just came out of no where.................

Well, it wasn't an interview. This is why we generally try only to do interviews by email, whenever possible, because it is inevitable that someone jots down a note based on something we say that is almost, but not entirely, completely incorrect. And then it gets attributed to us as if we DID say it...riots ensue....dogs and cats...living together...mass hysteria.

Deep breaths everyone. Find your happy place again.

Fantastic Ghostbusters reference. Thanks for clearing things up!

Glad to hear, maybe now the only repeat threads we'll have are the ideas and province threads.

Princess Stomper's happy place is too happy. Everybody back to the panic room!

I beg your pardon.

Serious moderator is serious.

:stare:

And it was repeated many, many time, and more just came out of no where.................

... and yet, amazingly, nobody actually had the actual quote. :D

This is a glorious, happy day for the Elder Scrolls, sanity, reason, and Pete's avatar. :)

Now we can panic about finding Pete a new avatar.

Wait... did you just dis Opus? :stare: ---> Thanks PS, didn't realize :D Oh look! over there... somthing shiny!

I find it helpful with some of the random bits of unconfirmed news and quotes about games to just keep my fingers in my ears saying "Lalalalalalala I can't hear you" all along. :P

No, Pete only just added him. Half an hour ago, his avatar was a broken link.

Oh. I just threatened to eat Kateri's hat if they didn't make a new one some time in the medium to distant future. :D

Why are you all satisfied with this?

It still seems apparent to me that the "next big game" by Bethesda will most likely not be an Elder Scrolls title. So inevitably we will have to listen to them tout other franchises like Wet for months, rather than have any info a a new TES.

Ah. See, this makes a good deal more sense. I'm glad to see a clarification posted so quickly.

Now to go back to waiting patiently.

Bethesda is only publishing WET, Brink, New Vegas, etc. And seeing as FO3 just recently came out, it is very likely that this big secret project is TES V.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people got so worked up about this announcement...it was basically the same thing we've heard for months now.

Hooray for clarifying what every sane member of the forum should have known from the get-go!

That's not to say I'm not grateful for the clarification, of course.

Now, this should really bash in the skulls of those people who went completely nuts saying things like "There will never be a TESV, and you know it. It's just wishful thinking."
Would be fun to see their faces now. But now they'll probably just go back to complaining about it not coming out in a veeeeeeeeeery long time.

I said it last night in one of the speculation threads, that I hope they would clarify this today, although I highly doubt they would, but they did.

Thanks for the clarification gstaff and Pete.
