Well we needed a new thread, and I'm not done being angry and entitled yet. Feel free to continue discussing here, and I'm going to be angry over how I'm being shunned out of a beta, and this game looks like it's going to be the next defiance.

Eh, the only issue I had with ESO coming to consoles was just how they were planning on doing the servers. Now knowing that console players will be separated from PC players is an encouraging thing. I was a bit uppity when I first heard the news, but now that I let it sink in for a bit I don't really have a problem with it.
My guess is it'll end up like defiance.
I'll just do like i did with diablo 3 and Defiance and not buy it, wait for someone else to take the blow and read the forum everyday to see if the game is worth it or not (in the case of D3 and Defiance, nope)
This is exactly how I feel as well. I'm going to put ESO on my backburner for now and follow WildStar because honestly, it looks more promising from a MMO standpoint.
I spent 130 bucks on defiance, I don't want to talk about it.
If it was all one server (or you know everybody in NA together and one for EU or whatever), I'd be actually a little happier about it. If you played Defiance, you know what its like playing an MMO singeplayer. It's horrible. And god forbid if this game has the playerbase of defiance spread across 3 platforms (majority seems to be on xbox for that game).
I doubt I'll play Wildstar, but this announcement has me looking a lot more closely at Archeage and a lot more excited to hear about EQ Next.
I think this is a bad thing, splitting the player base 3 ways just seems bad oh well I guess. Might as well have made it 4 ways and make it for the wii u.
Im kind of leaning the same way, something with complexity, I fear this game just got less complex.
Solid logic here.
Everyone knows that if two things share one common aspect, they are equal in all other ways as well.
ESO is to Defiance as pineapples are to grenades. Since, you know, pineapples and grenades have a roughly similar shape. MUNCH MUNCH...BOOM!
Seriously though, this doesn't affect any aspect of the game other than this aspect of the game. Whatever excitement you had for ESO shouldn't be dampened by the fact that other people will be playing it on a different system.
The issue with having cross-platform servers is the patching protocol that Sony/Microsoft has to follow before they allow patches on their systems. Say ESO releases a content patch that adds Winterhold to the game. What if most of the quests in Winterhold were really bugged out. Normally on a PC MMO that would be fixed within hours or a day. But add in the console protocol and that bug fixing patch could take weeks before it comes out. So you have two problems that will arise here: 1) You will make console players get incredible far behind in bug fixes due to Sony/Microsoft taking forever to allow console players to get their patches, or 2) You will make PC players have to deal with incredibly buggy content for a few weeks to wait for Sony/Microsoft to approve the patches so that console players don't feel like they are getting left behind.
That's the problem with cross-platform servers and I'm glad that they are separating it, because it hurts one gaming community or both if they shared the same servers. Most MMO games on the consoles don't share the same servers as PCs.
They needed to separate the player-base due to the patching protocol I just mentioned up above. You will piss off one or both of the gaming community's by letting them share the same server.
Seriously, it does.
Knowing how slow Microsoft and Sony have accepted patches to games on consoles makes me really worried.
I don't want to be playing a very buggy game and wait for the patch to come out when Microsoft and Sony finally allow it to happen on consoles.
WHAT!?
That's what I shouted when I read it. Must have woken up the whole house.
What the hell are you thinking, Beth. Why, oh goodness, why. Apart from everything mentioned already, this is a door opener for selling out to MS and Sony, as Beth has shown to do in the past.
An apparently, with an "exclusive beta first on PS4", it has already begun. Prepare for Winterhold - exclusive on XBOX ONE!
Anything you want to share with PC players ZOS? Except delaying the game 6 months to port it to two new platforms? Anything?
Except we've seen how this plays out. If it wasn't for modders, Skyrim was pretty much unplayable on PC. Every decision they make has to be weighed by how it will work/look/play on a console. Bleh.
This man get's me. This is why I'm glad they have separated the servers. Hopefully that won't slow down the patching in this game.
LOL unplayable?
I played it just fine w/o mods for a good 3 months.
I understand why Xbox One won't be roped in with the PC players, but why not the PS4 players? there are several games releasing on the PS4 that are going to cross platform with PC. War Thunder and Final Fantasy XIV are going to allow for cross platform play.
My annoyance over this is the delay. I've been saving money in preparation for this game. Looks like it will be going to other games, then.
Well with this crap news we should be looking forward to the next bombshell of a b2play or f2play sub model.
I feel unsure and a bit disheartened now. The game must be going bad if it's been delayed so much.
I don't know if this game is still worth playing.
At least there's still Archeage or EQNext.
I'll have to take that as a sarcastic comment, because I don't feel very logical right now
I wish somebody could tell me everything will be fine, but I know they can't. Shucks.
The only positive thing I would have taken from this is being able to play with a controller on PC, but guess what, controller support still won't be included for PC and Mac.

Now, that, they are just doing to annoy me. I think.
I'm hoping their approval systems will be different next gen...
I for one am extremely excited to hear this news. I would have betrayed my fangirl allegiance to Microsoft to buy a PS4 in order that I might play ESO with some friends who are more casual gamers and less into building/modding/maintaining PCs, but I found out that ESO will be on Xbox One, so I will continue with the fangirlisms. I've wanted for so long to be able to play in the ES universe with friends and I feel as if my dreams are all coming true.
As for release date, I don't give a [censored]. As long as I'm alive and my friends play this game with me, I'm golden.
