[RELWIP] Crafting 300: Swords & Axes of Tamriel, Thread

Almost done the textures for all of the daggers. Once that's done I'll include their approriate replacer in an updated version. The worst part is making my new meshes point to my new textures. Such a PITA.

I'm sure that will get easier when the CK comes out, at least I hope it does.

The CK won't help. It's Nifskope that's used to assign textures to meshes. It's just a tedius and repetitive process. So sar I've assigned 801 textures to 498 meshes. I'd rather just make textures. :P

Send me some files and I'd be glad too. Though I must warn you I've only done a little bit with nifs before, I'm much more of a scripter-type modder. :P

Swords, Axes & Daggers of Tamriel, 0.4.0
-Daggers completed.
-Dagger replacer implemented as follows.
Iron Dagger > My Iron Basic Dagger
Steel Dagger > My Steel Nordic Dagger
Elven Dagger > My Moonstone Altmeri Dagger
Glass Dagger > My Glass Altmeri Dagger
Dwarven Dagger > My Authentic Dwemeri Dagger
Orcish Dagger > My Orichalcum Orcish Dagger
Ebony Dagger > My Ebony Nordic Dagger
Daedric Dagger > My Daedric Dremora Dagger
-Glass weapon style (I call them Ornate Altmeri Style) also completed, though only the axe models are used as a replacer, the sword & greatsword texture/meshes are all done and included in the download.
-Ebonblade now uses my Ebony Akiviri Dai-katana mesh/texture instead of the steel one.

Uploading 0.4.0 to the Nexus now. Please playtest in-game. Thanks.

Well. If you're serious, take a look at the nif files I have included. You could convievably change any one of those weapons to use any style/material you want, if you know how to use nifskope. You could for example make them all use the basic style if you wanted, or the dwemer style, or be the vanilla styles but all made out of steel, etc.

If it hasn't changed much since Oblivion, I can do that.

EDIT: OOH! Ebony blade is pretty. Might need to start using it...

Nope. Just open the .Nif in Nifskope. Click on the model in the view window. Expand that brance until you find the "..." under the "txt" line, expand that in the bottom window and lcikc the purple flower to pick a new texture.

Hasn't changed at all since Oblivion. Just open the .Nif in Nifskope. Click on the model in the view window. It's not difficult or complicated, just tedius when you have 500 weapons.

Are you any good at modeling? because it would be awesome to do with mod with stuff like weapons of the third era
Just asking, because seeing morrowind-stlye daedric weapons done like this would be amazing :P

I asked to include his meshes in my mod, but he never answered. If someone makes a morrowind-style daedric sword mesh, I'd be more than happy to texture it.

Well, hopefully he gives you an answer when he gets back.

I'd download the new version but I'm getting SQL errors from nexus right now. :( Well that seems to have sorted out.

Hey, Baratan; I figured I'm bored, and since the CK isn't out, I can't work on the mod I wanted to work on, so I might as well try to help you out. I've never done any kind of Meshing/Texturing, but I figure even if I get a really rough outline, somebody more talented might pick it up.

Anyway; you seemed to like the idea of Chinese-based Orcish weaponry - what do you think of http://i.imgur.com/fqycz.png?

From left to right: Orcish Broadsword, Orcish Greatsword, Orcish Battleaxe, Orcish Poleaxe, Orcish Mace, Orcish Warhammer.

Assuming I can make decent meshes, anyway.

I think the Battleaxe is too ornate, and the head is a little on the large size, so I will probably scale that down a bit - and I'm not sure about the greatsword...

I doubt it's any good, but you're welcome to use my new seax knife mesh if you want. it's rough, but you might have a use for it:

I'm working on the finishing touches of a kukri. you're welcome to that too, as soon as I finish it.
Edit: Here's the kukri- http://www.4shared.com/file/2aVXBfrh/iron_kukri.html

sadly no: I haven't learned how to do that yet-was gonna do that after I got about 10 meshes or so done. I can get to work on learning though, if you want to use them. shouldn't take more than a few hours :P

Hi Baratan, I noticed a small issue with the new Steel Dagger. The mesh is rotated at an unusual angle in the 3D view for the crafting / container / inventory interface, http://eloquate.net/images/skyrim/enb2011_12_31_21_3_17.jpg.

From what I have seen so far the rest of the new items display as expected.

I really like the newest polished / gloss effect for Glass and Ebony weapons.

Also, the copper decorative work on the new Ancient Nord weapon textures has really grown on me after some initial doubts. Do you have any screenshots of these with some of the other metals or will I have to wait till version 1.0?

A very happy new year to you and your partner.

Steel dagger should do that in vanilla as well. I dont believe I could have rotated the mesh's orientation.

Hmm, here is a view with the mod uninstalled: http://eloquate.net/images/skyrim/enb2011_12_31_23_31_17.jpg.

It might be unique to my install though. If yourself or someone else in the thread could check that it's not just my computer being difficult.
