Hmm, here is a view with the mod uninstalled: http://eloquate.net/images/skyrim/enb2011_12_31_23_31_17.jpg.

It might be unique to my install though. If yourself or someone else in the thread could check that it's not just my computer being difficult.

It does it to me too, but I don't know why. Nothing about the mesh is changed except which textures it points to. Kind of hard to change something when you don't know what it is, lol.

So who wants to point a bunch of meshes to a bunch of textures? :P

So who wants to point a bunch of meshes to a bunch of textures?

I would, but I can't figure out how to do that - I can open up the mesh, but I can't figure out how to point it to other textures...

I've swapped out textures in nifskope a couple of times before and have free time if you could use a hand with the grunt work.

My next playthrough is waiting on this mod, so I might as well help to move it along. :P

Hm... you may hate me for this suggestion XD

But have you thought about giving each material custom normal/specular maps? I think it could really reinforce the difference between each material you've done up :)

I've thought about it, and I've tried to make my own normal maps... but Skyrim uses some new normal map style that I can't generate. My normal maps always look like junk in Skyrim's engine.

Finally figured out textures in NifSkope, so just tell me which ones need pointing. :D

After I finish the textures for the bows, arrows, warhammers and maces I will have a ton of meshes that need pointing to textures.

Hm... except for the body and face textures, Skyrim's normals are the same tangent-space normals that Oblivion used. And the specular is still just the grayscale alpha channel, so there's no difference there. What sorts of results are you seeing?

Amazing mod! I find it a bit odd that you can make a katana (or other thin and fine precision weapons) from orchalsium (which i see as a rough and porous material) or iron, which isn't possible to make that thin without it breaking. Shame durability isn't in. Would be cool if you made an iron katana it broke in a few hits :)

Between magic and the skyforge anything is possible??!!

I sincerely hope that an extensible durability mod comes out soon after the CK is released.

I've read that the normals in Oblivion are a mostly blue-tinged style normal map, where as Skyrim's normals use every colour of the rainbow. My normal maps only come in shades of blue, like Oblivion normal maps and wheen I view Skyrim normal maps I see very many different colours. I believe the difference has to do with Skyrim's normal maps being generated in a 3d enviroment, like 3dSMAX where as Oblivion's and my normal maps are generated in a 2d enviroment, like Paint Shop Pro.

Iron Katanas were in Morrowind afaik.

Should be possible via scripts, though I'm not sure it will be a part of this mod. We'll see what happens. The tools we have now are not even close to the CK.

You should talk to Insanity Sorrow over at TESA. He is talking about doing some artifacts in Skyrim too.

That's why I'm hoping for a mod that works on all weapons rather than just vanilla. :D

Yeah, the all-colors are object-space normal maps; but, only the body and head models use those. Weapons, armor, most everything else... all use the same tangent-space normal maps that Oblivion uses. You can open up the vanilla normals to see for yourself. What I'd do is generate a normal map and then copy-paste the material areas (blades, ornaments, etc) while leaving the hilts and stuff intact (since the vanilla normals are generated from high-poly models, not just from the diffuse texture, they're probably going to look better). Just make sure to re-normalize the texture after painting, and it should be fine.

I'm not a fabulous artist, but I do have a lot of experience with the technical side of things, so feel free to PM me if you run into any issues (if you do decide to try it out, obv :P )

And those artefacts look really nice :)

Thanks for all of the help, advice, and suggestions. Once I've finished up the rest of the weapons I'll take another look at normal maps.
