[RELWIP] Crafting 300

Yes! This!

I've been wondering a million times how come no one has done it before. So do you intend on adding all the stat combinations manually, or thinking about writing some piece of code to do it for you? That of course depends a lot on what the CK allows for, but personally I wouldn't even bother adding all the variations in manually, as that would be an insane amount of work to do, especially if you add variations between weapon models.

Now, on the other hand, do you think we could have misc. weapon effects for the weapon types, e.g. critical strike bonus (sword spec), armor reduction bonus (mace spec), or stuff like that? That would really help in identifying each weapon type as unique.

Depends if I can implement those effects without them counting as an enchantment.

You should see about partnering up with the Tytanis mod. its my absolute favorite right now and this would fit right into that mod.

I think if I make them "come with" enchantment, it will mean that the player cannot enchant them. I'm sure I will make the weight/speed/reach/armour/damage vary, but I don't know if I can do enchantments. Elven style will weigh less than most others, for sure.

Well I use enchantment to describe how the system might behave. The real point of my post is to see if there is a way to make weapon and armor styles not only look unique, but also behave uniquely. I do believe there are certain weapons in the game that come with affects to them, which are not exactly enchantments. Weapons such as "so and so's lucky dagger" have attributes associated with them such as 10% crit chance. I also believe these properties should be relatively small but improve with smithing upgrades to keep it balanced and add an interesting affect to smithing. If it is possible to add such an affect without breaking the enchanting system, then I think it is still something worth considering. If not, well I guess I can still have an awesome looking elven sword in the end-game. :)

I believe that dagger's effect functions as an enchantment. I do not believe you can enchant those weapons. I will see what I can do when the CK is released.

Maybe I'm colorblind, but the Orichalcum swords seem... Not green enough. The look more black, which makes them too much like Ebony, in my opinion. A dark green more like the ingot would be better, I think. Regardless, great mod, can't wait to use it!

You must be colour-blind. It's definitely green. In fact the colour is actually extracted from the orichalcum ingot's texture.

Completed a bunch more armours. These are very difficult. I really wish the vanilla textures didn't svck so bad. I think I may wait for texture replacers to come along before I finish these.

Your weapons look phenomenal. I bloody love you, Baratan. This is one of my most-anticipated mods along with SkyUI and a few others which I don't remember the names of. I'm going to ask (though it might be redundant for me to do so) to reassure myself... You'll be putting these up in the Steam Workshop, right?

As for the armor... :ninja: :pinch: They look so awkward in such bright colours, I find. Probably just because I'm such a fan of steel/iron/ebony/orcish armor looks myself.

Keep up the good work though! :D

The Dwemer and Malachite are the only bright ones. You don't like the Iron, Ebony or Daedric ones?
I may have to wait for a good retexture before I can commit on the armours.

Oh I do like them haha. I think it was just the brightness of the dwemer and the malachite that threw me for a loop.

Yeah. I may change them back. I really don't like the vanilla textures, and Millenia won't let me use his textures so I'm stuck.

The colouring of the metals looks much better now! I think that's the way to go. One thing that bothers me somewhat is denting on the metal in each types. I guess it'd more a result of smithing technique than what metal is used, but still kind of bothers me that every metal has the same kind of dented look. Makes it look cheap.

Well, if you're talking about the basic longsword. The one I just uploaded version 2 of. It's supposed to look that way. That's the rough, hammered metal basic longsword. The Nordic-style longsword (What the game calls Steel) will be a much smoother bladed weapon.

The basic longsword is a bunch of ingots heated up and hammered together with a wooden handle slapped on. It's the most basic design.
