[RELWIP] Crafting 300

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 8:49 pm

Oh, thank you. I am glad to hear that and look forward to it (patiently). Guess I will get back to experimenting with mesh hacking two armors together, something I have a little more experience with, hehe.
Armoured robes are always cool. :)

Haven't decided yet. Those three all look very similar.

Yeah. That's the primary component.

Ebony Basic-longsword > Elven-style Iron sword
Are there any plans to rework the smithing tree to support this? I get the feeling that each style represents an increased level of craftsmanship and I'm wondering how this will fit the current smithing system.

The smithing tree will represent the ability to work with the different materials, not the styles. The styles will depend on the character's knowledge. If possible, the alternate styles will be learned from books. But the primary component in calculating an item's strength is it's material, and that's where the smithing tree comes in.

Got it. Will there be statistical differences between the various styles? (ie, elven is slightly faster but weaker than a normal sword)

Depending on what options are available in the Ck the different styles will vary as much as possible.

I expect that you'll be able to have at least as much variation as there is between a dagger and a warhammer right now so there should be a nice wide range to work with. :)

Unless for whatever reason all swords must have the same speed/reach for example

Gotta say that one of my favourite parts about your screenshots is the Deadra Heart that makes appearances. I understand why, but I still find it entertaining :P

I love how actively you're working on this, too. Love seeing updates! :foodndrink:

cool. The only thing that would make this mod better is the added ability to make arrows. You get that in this mode, and I would most defiantly download it when you are done with it. XD

I'm so looking forward to this. I'll be experimenting with a wide variety of styles and materials until I find what I really like the look of. I suspect that an Orcish-style sword made of Glass might look really cool with the right armor.

Wait, make arrows in general or make arrow types with different materials? There are mods already that allow you to make arrows (which would mesh well with this mod) but the latter seems like a lot of effort for very little payoff (in my opinion).

Arrows in general. I know there are other mods already, but considering how much this mode is changing, it mite be better to just add one of them in to avoid conflicts and stuff.

Gotta say the new textures look really awesome. However, I would prefer seeing some kind of consistency in the handle material. So either try to pair up a specific handle material with the metal, OR pair it with the weapon style, i.e. all basic longswords have leather handle, OR e.g. all iron swords have wooden handle, all steel swords have leather handle etc. Consistency.

Anyway, great work so far! This is starting to look better and better!

Havent decided how Im going to work out the handles. Thats why I keep changing my mind. lol.

I think the material handle will depend on style, not material. All basic longswords have handles made out of the metal of the weapon, nordic longswords have leather wrapped handles, Imperial swords have wooden handles, etc.

You posted pictures of the Nordic sword variants and the iron armor variants, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to craft them. Are they implemented yet? I'm still only getting Iron sword variants.

Probably not. I haven't been practicing safe six on the internet or irl recently. I'll try not to be stupid in the future.
