Creation Kit delay

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 12:53 pm

They don't HAVE to give us a creation kit at all, not to mention that I would rather have them remove and many annoying bugs they can from it before letting me play with it. I remember so many things in the Fallout 3 one that would cause a computer to freeze, or was simply not possible for some reason. Hopefully they are addressing these kinds of things for the benefit of us all.

Yes they do. They promised it and therefore it is part of the understanding for purshasing the product.

If they fail to deliver it within a reasonable amount of time, I will demand a refund at the very least and never pay for another Bethesda product. But lets not get carried away. They will deliver it, the question is only when.

no.

on the contrary.
the editor is exactly why this game is as famous as it was.

the mods are the only thing that kept me around.

if they EVER fail to release an editor.
the FIRST TIME they fail to release an editor.
I will stop buying their products.
Battlefield was known for being the best most modable FPS ever made.
They got greedy and told the customers to FKLOFF and stoped releasing editors.
I stoped buying their @#$.

I refused to buy crysis 2 untill the editor was released.

I buy these games on PC specifically for the replay value.

I will not pay 60 bucks for a game that gets old after half a dozen hours.
its the mod tools that make them worth it.

Everyone needs to chill out. Console sales have little to do with when a construction kit is released. Geeze it seems some people will do whatever they can to start a fight...

I genuinely can't wait for the creation kit. I loved oblivion, i played it to death, but it was the mods that easily doubled the hours i put into it. The ideas people come up with and the mods they create are amazing. Especially as people can add things into the game that bethesda themselves aren't really allowed to do.

Don't get me wrong, I love the DLC's and nothing would stop me buying them, even if there was a mod that did pretty much the same thing (which frankly is highly unlikely given the scale of the teams working on the DLC's compared to modders working alone on solo projects), but the mods people make just allow me to customise the came exactly how I want it.

I do hope its released soon. Frankly aslong as they fix the big bugs in the game and ignore the smaller ones in favour of pushing out the CK I don't mind as no doubt there will be modders out there that will fix any bugs bethesda miss.

It's just a matter of waiting now..... O.O

Oh god, this thread makes my head hurt... The GECK took what, a week to a month to come out after Fallout3?

Just be patient.

Many reasons

Making it user friendly
Writing user manuals/tutorials
Removing bugs
cleaning up the interface

This.

I think it's safe to say that we will probably be waiting at least another week at the very least. This is the most stable and enjoyable game Beth has ever released and I think most of us should be spending more time playing different characters, beating the MQ and roleplaying like mofos. I've been playing the game for 4 days now and haven't even come close to beating the MQ yet, let alone explored even 10% of what the game has to offer. If you need mods already you've got issues (mind you, I am dying for a HGEC type body mod to come out).

I've been around since 2006 (had to make a new account for some reason) and I am confident Bethesda will not disappoint us. Patience is a virtue!

It's probably fairer to say that they are trying their best but need to spend resources to fix the PC issues before releasing the Creation Kit. No sense releasing a modding kit for a game that some people are having trouble getting to run.

ye coz then the modders will fix most of the problems instead of them!

look how many problems modders have already repaired!

i wouldnt be happy if i released a game that had so many issues and left it for the paying customers to fix...

You kind of sound like me when Fallout 3 was released. I was so angry that the CK wasn't available right away and there were so many things that needed fixing, mind you I think Oblivion had more bugs than any of Beth's games thus far. Still, with Skyrim being so stable and absolutely amazing I think we can all wait just a little longer. Beat the game, do the side stuff, roleplay, make your own fun and before you know it the CK will be released.

Mainly removing licensed stuff, and replacing CVS features (that allowed several peoples to work on the same file simultaneously) with something that will run on single computers without access to a version management server.

Even if they released the CK today, I doubt that we will be able to create plugins that compete with the DLCs so fast. We might be able to beat another set of horse-armor or player houses, but not a Fallout-Style DLC.
Yeah, this. They are cutting out all the super crazy stuff that isn't licensed for public use. And when we get access we certainly wont out-do the DLC. Hell, I have a DLC scale (and hopefully quality) quest mod planned, but it wont be done for at least 6 months. Certainly we will see DLC before then, thus I am not affecting their sales whatsoever.

I hope they create new stuff for DLC sales, instead of cheap stuff (a dagger entry in the CS already existing, and the $3 DLC just places it in-game), or selling us stuff that originally was in the game but got removed (the Wizard's Tower). I miss Tribunal and Bloodmoon sized expansions... I think they should make a DLC that has Hammerfell invading Skyrim or something ridiculously grandiose like that.

Consoles are majority but i am willing the bet the digital downloads of the PC version more than double the amount of pre-orders of the PC version and not only that that site has been proven multiple times to be way off on a lot of their pre-order statistics over the last few years.

Out of the 10 people (including me) I know that bought the game, 10 bought it on PC (even though we all also have x360s), and 8 solely via digital downloads, only 2 bought physical copies (because we found them for 30% off :D ). It might not be very representative of the general population though, since we're all co-workers in the IT part of a big group, so computers, modding and hacking stuff are definitely our thing ;)

Oh, I actually enjoyed the Mehrunes Razor DLC! It was almost as if they have designed that dungeon specifically for stealthy characters - plus, it had a Morag Tong assassin.

If they keep in the track started with Fallout DLC's, I assume it's ok. If they actually improve on that concept, and release at least one real expansion like SI... :celebration:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1243446-1000000-american-pre-orders. They don't include digital downloads, but it's pretty clear that consoles are a huge majority.

I'm sure there are more console players, but Skyrim is currently the top selling game on Steam. It doesn't show sales numbers, but it's clearly selling more than any other game at the moment. http://store.steampowered.com/ Scroll down a bit, and click "Top Sellers". I don't know if that counts retail disks activated as well, or just sales directly through Steam. It's also the most played game on Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ Scroll down a bit to "Top games by current player count". Note, that those numbers are only counting players playing at the same time. And there are probably people waiting till Bethesda fixes some bugs before buying. So it's hard to tell exactly how big of a majority the console players are.

Are PC users still buying their games on plastic ? I thought it was the 21th century now (Allthough it might be different in the US). (Everyone i know who bought the game bought it for the PC on steam)

Some of us like having a physical copy, or have crappy internet. I know plenty of people who ordered it physically.

Oh look, it's this insulting quip again. Seriously, why is it that people do this? One is not a troglodyte because one prefers to have physical media which cannot be taken away if Valve goes under.

I don't think Subjektiv was trying to offend anyone who bought a physical copy, no need to jump down his throat. (Unless he was...in which case, well, you know.)

I did buy a physical copy myself, but I can say that a much larger of the PC's sales likely comes through services like steam at this point. PC games aren't supported much, if at all, by actual stores lately.

Unbelievable how Bethesda can be slagged off for "when" they release a free tool that they don't actually have to give us in the first place!...

Bro that tool made them truly famous.

Well the DLC for Fallout 3 were all pretty impressive.

I hope they try and top that showing.

Mods don't take away anything from their selling DLC. Right the opposite, in fact, since mods will indeed start demanding that the player has this or that DLC installed. Nor can us modders really create anything that takes away sales from official stuff like DLC.

And come on, the game has been out for less than a week, so I don't get what "delay" you're talking about.

Everyone was crying the same tune about the delay of the release of the CS when Oblivion came out too. Everyone needs to take a chill pill again.
