If i was to get crysis(LE edition) from a store, play on it for 6 months and then get the steam version and play on that, would i still have the LE edition? Does the LE edition only give you a LE account? or is it tied to the game as well?

Nice question Foois.

And Tom why is the Steam version isn't discounted like the retail version. I ordred from amazon but i always prefer steam. The problem is that steam is expansive compared to the box retail version which is illogic because the online store should cost less.

Whoot! TYVM for putting it on Steam..

Steam should be cheaper, but its more convinient. Since the game isn't Steam linked (ie, you can't activate the retail copy on Steam, I don't mind paying a little extra this time). But with other games, I buy the cheaper retail copy and activate it on Steam.

Biggest bugger is that you have to re download the game everytime you format or on every computer you have and steam pretty much kill any lan possibility (account in one place only)

You know Steam has a back-up utility. I have all my games archived on my 2nd drive. Any time I want to play a game again, I just find the back-up and it does a quick install.

So,

- You buy L.E. on DVD,
- Create an account and play online,
- You then buy standard edition on Steam,
- You log in to your account on your new Steam version and...
- Do you or do you not have custom skin, dog tags, etc?

I get the question, will try and find an answer ASAP :) I do, however, think that it will be tied to your game because your game isn't limited to one account and therefore not limited in the benefits given with the L.E.

My question with steam and all: Is the game going to use the VAC (valve anti cheat) from steam or have its own anti cheat program?

The german Steam Store says that i get a "Low Violence Version".
Is this only a placeholder or will we germans again get a cut version?

If i buy this game on steam, can i still play with other people online who buy the game on the ea store or retails? Or only with steam users? Because some games like Blacklight Tango Down has this problem!

Crysis 2 features dedicated servers, you can play with anyone no matter where you buy the game from.

I'm passing on the steam version after all the issues I had with Warhead/Wars on steam. Such as how it doesn't give me the option to choose directx 9 or 10 without going to the folders themselves, and constant crashes on Wars caused by steam issues. I hate having boxes of things though, is it possible to register my game with EA and re-download it from EA sometime in the future if i lose my disc?

sorry for double post , but this is related. Why are all the new games 59.99 on PC now too? Every since Starcraft 2....I blame Actvision but why do other companies [EA in this case] feel the need to do the same? What exactly warrants the extra 10 dollars? it's not like making games all the sudden got harder from some kind of "new technology" or we're getting a lot more things than we did 2 years.

Problems with crashes???
I had no issues at all with any single game related to steam but to a bad or corrupted configuration on my system.
I do had problems with the .Net installer that broke something on my system and I just reinstalled all and installed this from microsoft site with no issues. And as the way the install process of the game occur I am forced to rename the folders where this files are in because of the lack of proper installation process, it don't verify if you already have installed DX, .net and such, so it force you to install something you already have, fully updated, so it install an old version screwing your system.
Perhaps some day game developers will learn how to do this and we are not going to be forced to install unnecessary software.

Yeah, my issue was a very common one that had a lot of threads on Crymod/steam crysis page. It was definately something caused by steam and a steam admin confirmed it for me.They never actually gave me a fix and to this day after several re-installs on different systems in still crashes 30% if the time.
