The creation of this thread is to keep speculated information of future TES series in one place. As quoted:

Also, the first Elder Scrolls Novel, http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017, and it's release date, November 24th, 2009.
Further, an Amazon plot synopsis that was later removed indicates TES:V will take place 200 years after the events of the Oblivion Crisis. Here is the http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:LTwbGwuYMjgJ:www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/1848566867 of the page via Google archiving.
Mkay, apparently that cache archive has been overwritten. UPDATE: I've zipped and uploaded the Google Archive I saved. Download's http://www.mediafire.com/?zt0jtmunzjj through Mediafire (blech, but unless you guys know of a better free file-hosting service...). Unzip and open the html document to see the confirming archive of Amazon's page.

OK. After a discussion with summer we have decided to reopen this topic but under the following conditions.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when - or if- it is going to be released, it is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be or any other subject of that type, they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.
Some of you are treating this as a personal chat box with one liners and little substance. Again, that will not be acceptable.

If you have something of value to add, then great, but there is no requirement to make posts just for the sake of it. The moderators will be keeping a close eye on this thread.

I'm out of ideas. Well, I have one more detailing the last thread by which my sanity is still clinging to my mind.

seti18's journal:

Day of waiting for TES V... I don't know, I've lost track.

I keep staring at the case of Oblivion in my room. It's taunting me with the same phrase over and over again. TES V, TES V, TES V, TES V, TES V. I can't take it anymore. I don't remember what the feeling of a new Elder Scrolls game feels like anymore. I've forgotten the taste of freedom in world foreign to me. I've forgotten what it is like to hold a brand new Elder Scrolls game in my hands. I don't know what's real anymore. TES V doesn't seem to be coming.

:P

Seriously though, what are we supposed to do now, speculate about the same exact things for the next few months, perhaps even...years? It would be easier to speculate with just a shred of information. I want a setting, a name, or even just an announcement that TES V is being made. Does anyone feel like guessing what the focus of the next game will be, again? The Septims are gone now, so it seems like TES V will be a turning point in TES series in terms of plot.

Well yeah, it will be pretty different. The Empire is in shambles. Black Marsh and Morrowind are now ruled by the Hist Argonians, and if we count all of that territory as a single province, they're the biggest province on Tamriel. Bigger than Cyrodiil. The Dunmer are refugees on Solsthiem, and the Nords wont like that. And the heir to the Imperial throne is currently in Umbriel, that just so happens to have disappeared from Mundus.

TESV having a boring plot just don't seem possible. Bethesda would have to purposely try to make the plot boring.

I haven't read the novels, and probably won't. Do you think I should still be able to understand TES V without the knowledge I could obtain from the novels?

They'll probably explain it all in game.

You really should. I just got the novel today, and spent most of today reading all 280-290 pages of it. It only takes a day. There are summaries here and there on this forum, but the thing I enjoyed most was the small tidbits of lore that people generally don't mention in summaries. But it's up to you. Though I'm sure you wont be all that lost when TES:V comes out.

I still say that TESV is going to be this:

You are going to be an imperial agent of some sort (most likely a prisoner) dispatched to Skyrim to thwart a plot to throw the province into chaos as a prelude to a strike at Cyrodiil. By Keeping a lid on the north, you'll effectively keep the Nords in a position to resist certain parties from rolling over Cyrodiil. If you haven't read the novel, don't sweat it. It should be obvious who would want the Nords disorganized and why from the First Era :)

See, TES I-IV are about defending the Empire.
V through VIII (likely) will be about holding together what little there is to hold together. Maybe even picking up the pieces. But maybe not! The novel establishes a reason to think that the last of this arc will occur in either Black Marsh or Summerset Isle.

I didn't see this reference posted so I'm adding it here. It does NOT include clues to TES V release date or content but it does give strong credence to Bethesda's continued use of the Gamebryo engine.

I wonder...

Is there a way to see whether Bethesda has bought rights to use the GameBryo engine recently (they do have to constantly renew rights to use it, correct?). If someone could find proof, we'd know they're up to something for sure.

They are up to something, they told us that. We just don't know what game it is, but I am sure it is TES V. To make Fallout 4 now makes no sense and to start another game series now also makes no sense. They must be working on TES V.

They said that they add onto it each time they make a new game so most likely no. Although Umbra did sound pretty awesome.

The only thing I can say for hints as to TES 5, and this is really grasping at straws here, is that they've kept the upcoming games section of the forums open just for Brink. This could mean that they're lazy and didn't want to change it to Brink, or it could mean that they're planning on adding another upcoming title. Once again, really grasping at straws her ( the only reason of which is because we've gone without creditable news for so long).

As good a guess as any, maybe we'll see another title in there soon.

What do you mean "did" sound awesome? It's still just as likely they will use it in their next game seeing that all they really have to do is sign a check and flip a switch.

LOG: 27 DECEMBER SUNDAY 2009

The team is starving, there hasn't been a single sign of the prophecy, many travellers are weary and are giving up, we must continue onward in our search for the fifth elder scroll.

I say we continue the rest of the thread like this, until we get news anyways.

Bethesda leaves us no choice. We must keep an account of our suffering.

Bethesda will wait until this forum is a ghost town. Then they will release an update saying that TES:V will take place in Tamriel and the forums will flood with speculation once again. "Which province, which province?!"

But if it's a ghost town who'll see it? *GASP* Beth wants to announce TES V, but it doesn't want people to know about it! Everyone deactivate your accounts and hide, maybe then Beth will announce :ninja:

It's called being sneaky.

Still, you should hop over to the offical 360 forums. Over there it's always fun with noobs saying about how they want guns and dragons and other stuff. People like me have to keep a constant patrol there to kill anyone who utters "Lets make it multiplayer"

Sigh... looks like somone has invaded the 360 forums with fresh ideas. Back to work *whisles while twurling a baton.*

I know that there's nothing to speculate on so its hard to have this thread stay on topic. However please so we don't get locked stay on topic, ideas for the next game go in a different thread. If you have nothing to say about cumulative speculation don't post.

It feels like these speculation threads are getting ancient, and they are. There is absolutely no new material, or really any material at all to base speculation off of. I certainly hope we get something soon, but until then I've got games like Mass Effect 2 to tide me over. Man, I really dont know why i'm even in this thread right now... I guess I'm waiting for someone to come into this thread screaming that Bethesda announced TESV. Were jumping from milestone to milestone on announcement dates, the vga's, christmas, new years, the current one (besides new years) seems to be E3 2010. Sorry for rambling.
