Cyberpunk 2077 [merged topics]

Yes.

It takes some gall to title something after the genre itself ... so we'll see how that goes, eh?

Edit: ooh, Cyberpunk 2077 will be a sandbox-y openworld type of thing. Bethesda, prepare to defend yourself!
I'm guessing it's probably a reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020.

That's the ruleset they're using, so I'm sure it is. Still ... the hubris!

Nah, I'm sure it shoots lasers. A few well-placed shots would do it.

Ooh, ooh, http://i.minus.com/ixfYBmIhrEnsH.jpg http://wpc.4d7d.edgecastcdn.net/004D7D/www/cyberpunk/img/1600x1200_GIRL-CP77.jpg.

Ugh, I wish CDPR would stop the blatant exploitation but, Poland, eh?

And http://www.abload.de/img/1920x1080_art4kp4i.jpg?

Edit: this "for mature audiences" schtick is getting old. Lots of swearing and naked women, then. How mature. Hopefully that's not how "for mature audiences" translates again ...
That is [censored] creepy. Real uncanny valley [censored]. I don't think they have to worry about it. Looks like a soulless mech zombie. Assassinates you when you least expect it, hahaha.

Edit
So far I am meh on this game. I just want another Witcher game. I have no expectations for this and am not following it too much. Hopefully when it is released it will be a suprise.

So it's called Cyberpunk 2077...

Anybody else get the feeling that it's going to be cyberpunk?

Is anyone familiar with the P&P material?

Are they going to be dealing with the weirdness that came up in Cyberpunk 203X, which pushed the game into an interesting post-cyberpunk direction

What does this comment mean by "post-cyberpunk direction"?

Nope, although I do have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5rl3rg_Gmc which is a mobile phone game from 2006 :P

The only cyberpunk P&P I've played is Mutant 2089, which was only released in Sweden. Easily my favorite P&P out of those I've played though, and pretty much the reason why I've grown so fond of the cyberpunk genre.

Probably http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PostCyberPunk. In short, cyberpunk is dark and cynical and portrays everyone in power as deeply corrupt and generally has a cautionary view on technology. Post-cyberpunk can also be dark, but it tends to aim for more moral ambiguity across the board and is generally more neutral about technology.

Oh, interesting. Hm. It brings up interesting (for me) questions of genre, but that's not really relevant to this thread.

I do hope C2077 isn't too dark ...

I hope they make it a true open world experience so they get their hands 'dirty' for next Witcher. When the Witcher series will become open world then TES has real competition and will have to push harder (no offense Two Worlds, you're also almost competition but just not yet )

Please no. Just... no.

The Witcher works as a strong, focused story. Making it open world for the sake of it would ruin that rhythm and pacing. And for what? Go anywhere! Do the exact same thing in each location anyway! - No thanks. Let TES continue to water itself down into a puddle. The Witcher's strength is its story and characters. going open world would whiz on that from a height.

Holy [censored]!!

That looks like a combination of Blade Runner and Deus Ex, which makes this officially my favourite game to wait for.

Yes, I played quite a bit during junior high. Really looking forward to this game, as CDProjekt hired Mike Pondsmith to consult on the development and it seems they plan to keep the class system from the PnP game. It will be interesting to see how they handle the narrative for an open world game where you can play a corporate executive, a smuggler, cop, hacker, journalist or even a musician.

Holy crap I forgot about this until now, now I am reminded of it. It doesn't sound like a "this year" release to me. Perhaps early 2014?

Now like any amazing teaser this is the last thing we ever see of it. It gets cancelled, they burn all of their work in a fire, execute the employees, and make contracts with the MIB so no one ever hears about anything ever again. Why? Because this seems too good to be true and it happens to these sorts of games more often than you think. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ScrewedByTheNetwork that sums up what I am fearing.

I want this game to be good. I really, really do.

Oh, and there's a http://i.imgur.com/MGaRq.png at 2:14:

Do you like our latest creation? We certainly hope so :) Yo may remember that we sometimes send you guys secret messages like this. It's a great way for us to speak right to you instead of burying ourselves in corporate mumbo-jumbo so let's begin!

First of all - have you noticed all the details in our teaser (yes, it's a teaser. We'll make a proper trailer in the future)? If you know the Cyberpunk setting there are some things you can spot, like implants - look for the weapon hands and the real skin - corporate emblems that should look familiar and more. Happy hunting!

You're probably curious about the release date. It's currently scheduled a way off in 2015 but in truth the delivery date is more like "when it's done". We will release Cyberpunk to you when we're convinced it is nothing but pure, refined, unadvlterated awesome. We want it to be the most kick ass futuristic RPG ever - OK, maybe this sounds pretty bully, but it is our actual goal! You judge if we deliver it!

Oh - and you may wonder why we announced our game so early before the release. The reason is that we're still building our dev team so if you are a talented dude or dudette willing to work in a really different company (gamers rule & boring corporate stuff drools!) on a super ambitious project, send us your application right now! careers@cdprojektred.com

So you want to know what kind of game Cyberpunk 2077 will be? The short description is that it will be a story-heavy, nonlinear, open world RPG based on the well known Cyberpunk pen&paper system and setting. Building open world games is something we are mastering right now and we believe that properly joining nonlinear gameplay with an excellent story telling will bring a totally new quality. Mmm... We'll tell some more about it soon!

And that's not all that's new. We are about the reveal our other project which is much closer to being completed and yes, it will also be a fully open-world game with an intense story. You can probably guess the game we're talking about :-) On the 5th of February it will all be clear.

So stay tuned as we will have quite a lot to show and tell you soon!

We are waiting for you on our newly created forum called Afterlife - what other name could we have chosen for it?
