Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #24

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 11:21 am

Huh? Sure, I guess. He could of killed some of them. But not the entire clan. Hell, he returned to the priest's chapel four days later after he fought the Volkihar. It would take a lot more than four days to wipe out an entire vampire clan at once.

He was given info by a member of the "order". And it appears there are Volkihar vampires in Skyrim.

I do hope there is more reference to the novels. Really enjoyed the story there. Maybe a future game or DLC will play on this. More than anything I would love to visit the floating island.

True. Then again it comes down to people's taste and what they want to see. Some people want to see the Snow Prince, other people want dragonmounts, some people want better vampires and etc.

and Im telling you they can all be put into one, its just about prioritising them so the one that seems more important is made more important

Wrong the guy that gave him the info, also gave movarth's mistress -forgot if it was man or woman- info on the "order", the info came from your everyday breed of vampire

Yeah, I guess the Order priest used the hunter to his benefit by killing rival vampires in other provinces. I probably was amusing to watch a vampire hunter do a vampire's bidding without knowing, almost getting himself killed.

But the whole Skyrim vampires are "the Order" or the "Volkihar" is confusing and it usually ends up nowhere. So I won't even broach the subject of which vampire is in Skyrim. And it's slightly off topic.

well the island (umbriel) ended up "home", wherever that is, so I don't think it will be possible to visit it, but I would LOVE to see some references to the characters and events in the DLC. the story was quite good.

Uncle Sweetshare. The Santa Clause-esque Moon sugar druggie? Haha, I remember him. I hope Bethesda adds someone like him as an easter egg. He was memorable.
Exactly x) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRJW8lcpOlY Remember that?

why did movarth a cyrodilic vampire want info on the order?
No No No, Movarth was the Vampire hunter in "immortal blood", the priest was a Vampire who was using Movarth as a tool to kill the other vampire clans, the priest was a member of the order.

He was human at that time. He had no clue the man whom he was asking for advice was a vampire masquerading as a priest. So after he killed a bunch of vampires, he asked about the Cyrodiilic vampires. The priest told him, and Movarth went to search for Cyrodiilic vampires but did not find a single one. He returned to the chapel, frustrated. That's when the priest who was giving him information revealed himself as a vampire. The vampire ended up biting Movarth, considering he is still alive in the events of Skyrim.

There are no snow elves left on Solstheim, tho. They all died.
hmm i just searched the uesp wiki and they dont have a page on the snow elves, and in "fall of the snow prince" it didnt say anything about them being exterminated, but some of them did flee.... i hope for the sake of my theory that some are still around somewhere, maybe underground...?

What do you think is the best way of going at DLC?
Should I use an existing character or start a new one?
I have a level 54 Khajiit who is unstoppable and a level 20 pure mage.

That gave me an awesome idea, war between the two factions.

And what if Dawnguard is because you guard the dawn, maybe the falmer dislike the sunlight (they've lived underground for ages) and want to block out the sun or stop it from rising, and the Snowprince is the antagonist.

I don't know how much Bethesda will put into Dawnguard, but it would be cool to see more than one faction in the game. Not just about vampires, but other things that can appeal to the other audience. The addition of the Snow Prince might change that.

Do you mean to tell me that the Prince has turned himself into a snowman, and you guard the dawn that will melt him?

and ascension as in ascending.

its more likely that after we help (or destroy) him he will ascend to the sky in a bright light.

Indeed. In the last thread someone mentioned it might be in another DLC they use Clavicus Vile, so never say never on visiting the island.
Spoiler
Also Ysoldas dialogue on how the sleeping hollow tree got there from a spore from a floating island. As much as I'm aware this is just some small reference to the books, you never know, that camp could have a vital role. Maybe I'm being too optimistic though

Mass effect 3 used the novels hugely. A mission on the Academy (main location of the second book) and Kai Leng the antagonist is the antagonist of the second to final book. Although I dont count the final book as official, because it was so bad.

It would just be a shame if the story was never put to us to even have a brief visual exploration. Would even be cool if we had a quest to find the
Spoiler
floating potion Annaig uses to get on the island.
Also the hist need to be used more.

Since I've had little better to do, I've been thinking about Dawnguard.

Tamriel translates into 'Dawns Beauty' in Aldmeri. I hope we're all aware what guard means. For this reason, I think it'll be adding an elite, Blade-like faction dedicated to guarding Tamriel from all threats - such as the Thalmor. It would encompass all combat-oriented classes, and have a headquarters hidden in the mountains and guarded by all manner of creatures, so that only the worth may gain access.
That sounds pretty cool.
All the ideas here are idiotic. Falmer and Snow Elves? Snow Princes? Resurrection? Honestly it sounds stupid.

Dawnguard... Dawn is the rise of the sun. The sun signifies life. If we're guarding light, or something Aedric or divine, we're in all likelihood defending from death. So, I expect an expansion to the Vigilants of Stendarr and Vampires - two things left basically untouched in vanilla.

So. I think there might actually be a diverging main questline - maybe siding with a Vampire bloodline (volkihar?), or with the Vigilants depending on your moral compass. Naturally there'll probably some betrayal plot (Think. Three of the guild questlines involved betrayal. Although Ancano's wasn't really that unexpected... The point still stands), and maybe a secret Meridia worship sect in the Vigilants.
Be respectful of other members.
I wish it was E3 already...
Agreed.
When will we find out more about the DLC? E3? Or earlier? Also when is E3?
E# is next month. June 3rd through 5th.
I'm sorry Apple pie, but that theory is just idiotic and ridiculous. It probably has nothing to do with the Falmer.

Q: what faction exists yet is basically untouched?
A: Vigilants of Stendarr. They have no quests or anything, so they're a prime suspect to be expanded upon in an expansion with content which should have been in in the firsg place.
be respectful of other members.
There's this new thing you see its called authentication, you see bethesda added them to make the world seem more real, the more the merrier, like how they've got the red mountain but you cant go there, its pure aesthetics, understand sweetheart?
this.
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST! THE NEW DLC WILL HAVE WHERESHARKS!

but still if he is a vampier why are his eyes showing it... and only his eys i think he has taped in to some kind of power (Talos-god power?) or Alduin power (he has glowing eyes two! but more evil) http://thewhimsicalwanigan.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/alduin.png65
Weresharks are in the lore.
I wish I could say the same for the main quest. There was much more important things than dragons and dragonborn.
No there really wasn't though.
