Honestly Skyrim didn't do as much for me as previous TES games, and I've done about everything there is to do in the game at this point. I still check the forums every once in a while to see if there's something I haven't heard about or tried myself, but I think my time in this game has come to an end. At this point the only fun I have is roaming the country side as a werewolf and ripping through bandits/beasts. And even then, it's only about once a week for 30 minutes or so when I get bored of other games. I keep hoping something will rekindle my desire to play, but everything is rather "been there, done that".
I was hoping for more of a firm time table from Bethesda regarding Dawnguard, though I never counted on it. The truth is, from what I've heard the DLC is fun, but not necessarily spectacular. I'll likely be done with the game completely by the time it releases for PS3 and PC, and though I am slightly curious about certain things, it won't be enough to spend $20.
Honestly I just feel like Bethesda is shooting themselves in the foot with this deal. I can't be the only one who has grown bored with the game, and without fresh content in a reasonable amount of time, there won't be much incentive to keep playing. In two months, Skyrim will likely be a thing of the past for me. Many friends of mine (who are also TES fans) have also moved on, and Dawnguard is not enough to bring them back.
Now flame on....
Yea that happens to me as well with DLC, notably Fallout New Vegas, I was well done with playing the game after Dead Money, and I didn't like Dead Money. Honest Hearts was cool for the .45's, anyway the point, Bethesda more notably waits FAR too long to release DLC. Dawnguard is enough to draw me and many people back to the game obviously, but if they didn't do the vampire, werewolf, vampire hunter thing so well I would not be playing the game or posting this right now.
So basically if they released DLC that was not quite as cool as Dawnguard is to me not too terribly long after the release of Skyrim
I would buy it. Where as if they did that now
I would not buy it because they waited far too long to release content after release. The only way to come out well on that is to release good beefy content that people want to play.
On slightly different note, this DLC mainly appeals to vampire, werewolf & vampire hunter fans, that IS the DLC. It is cool enough for some people to restart the game from scratch. Givin some of the 7.0 - 8.0 reviews which pretty much degrades the DLC for lack of content & bugs, some of those journalist are not huge fans of vampire or werewolves. A 8.0 is very respectable, it is a $20 DLC, you won't find a modder that is willing to take the time to come up with a none glitchy Vampire Lord among other things in the content. There are worse DLC's to spend $20 on out there.
If I personally was not so big into the whole vampire & werewolf thing being on PC there is no way I would spend $20 on this DLC. I am just going to throw that out there, I don't owe Bethesda anything so I won't fan boy Dawnguard by any means. There is nothing there that is appealing to anyone at $20 if you do not like what they've done with vampires & werewolves. Not for someone on PC, not $20, mods are free.
