Dawnguard PS3 and PC Release Date [merged similar topics]

Honestly Skyrim didn't do as much for me as previous TES games, and I've done about everything there is to do in the game at this point. I still check the forums every once in a while to see if there's something I haven't heard about or tried myself, but I think my time in this game has come to an end. At this point the only fun I have is roaming the country side as a werewolf and ripping through bandits/beasts. And even then, it's only about once a week for 30 minutes or so when I get bored of other games. I keep hoping something will rekindle my desire to play, but everything is rather "been there, done that".

I was hoping for more of a firm time table from Bethesda regarding Dawnguard, though I never counted on it. The truth is, from what I've heard the DLC is fun, but not necessarily spectacular. I'll likely be done with the game completely by the time it releases for PS3 and PC, and though I am slightly curious about certain things, it won't be enough to spend $20.

Honestly I just feel like Bethesda is shooting themselves in the foot with this deal. I can't be the only one who has grown bored with the game, and without fresh content in a reasonable amount of time, there won't be much incentive to keep playing. In two months, Skyrim will likely be a thing of the past for me. Many friends of mine (who are also TES fans) have also moved on, and Dawnguard is not enough to bring them back.

Now flame on....

if it's exclusive for 30 days, that means it's only on xbox for 30 days, how would it still be exclusive for 130 days if it's only exclusive for 30 days? Think about your logic.

Microsoft bought exclusivity for 30 days. That means Bethesda can release it no earlier, but after that, whenever they damn well pleased.

It's just not fair. I have gladly enjoyed 511 hours playing Skyrim on PS3, sure there were a few bugs, but the patches fixed any I had. I find out a DLC has finally been announced and was more than thrilled.........then I learn my dear ol' Bethesda granted exclusively to freeken Xbox!!! Why Bethesda? WHY? I would at least like a release date for PS3, they're just video games after all, not national secrets. I mean c'mon, I redeploy back to Afganistan in a few weeks and I won't even get to be a vampire lord. What a shame.

I'm hoping they use this time as a sort of extended beta testing period so that those of us on ps3 and pc will have a more polished experience.
I really think this what us 360 users were. Nothing but a big bunch of guinea pigs for Bethesda and their half-finished products.

As I said to my brother in real life the 360 players are going to be beta testing the game and most likely and the PC and PS3 will get a more polished version.

Beth can keep it for all I care! Personally making it exclusive for the 360 for a month only pushes people to pirate the damn thing. Doesn't hurt M$, but hits Bethesda's bottom line. If I decided to buy it for the 360, I'd make sure I bought it used so Bethesda doesn't get a penny from my purchase. Two can play the exclusive game. Mine being used game sales.

Oh aren't you sneaky! You guys act like it's the greatest thing in the world. To be honest, it's really not THAT great. Sure, it's fun and adds some things but again this is simply some content.

Hey Guys, I know that there is no set release date, but ive been hearing rumors that dawnguard is releasing on september 13th for ps3. I dont believe it, but if anyone has any information of any kind they could give to me about the release date, it would be very beneficial. Thank you.

At least 30 days after the Xbox release. Could be a month, could be two, could technically never be released. But I wouldn't really see how a really delayed release/no release would help Bethesda in the long run. They'd piss a lot of people off and lose a fair bit of revenue.

No way its coming out in September. It should be 30 days after it was released on Xbox360.

You'd think. But Todd's reaction to the question in the E3 interview and Pete's recent tweet doesn't make it seem like that's the case.

Yea that happens to me as well with DLC, notably Fallout New Vegas, I was well done with playing the game after Dead Money, and I didn't like Dead Money. Honest Hearts was cool for the .45's, anyway the point, Bethesda more notably waits FAR too long to release DLC. Dawnguard is enough to draw me and many people back to the game obviously, but if they didn't do the vampire, werewolf, vampire hunter thing so well I would not be playing the game or posting this right now.

So basically if they released DLC that was not quite as cool as Dawnguard is to me not too terribly long after the release of Skyrim I would buy it. Where as if they did that now I would not buy it because they waited far too long to release content after release. The only way to come out well on that is to release good beefy content that people want to play.

On slightly different note, this DLC mainly appeals to vampire, werewolf & vampire hunter fans, that IS the DLC. It is cool enough for some people to restart the game from scratch. Givin some of the 7.0 - 8.0 reviews which pretty much degrades the DLC for lack of content & bugs, some of those journalist are not huge fans of vampire or werewolves. A 8.0 is very respectable, it is a $20 DLC, you won't find a modder that is willing to take the time to come up with a none glitchy Vampire Lord among other things in the content. There are worse DLC's to spend $20 on out there.

If I personally was not so big into the whole vampire & werewolf thing being on PC there is no way I would spend $20 on this DLC. I am just going to throw that out there, I don't owe Bethesda anything so I won't fan boy Dawnguard by any means. There is nothing there that is appealing to anyone at $20 if you do not like what they've done with vampires & werewolves. Not for someone on PC, not $20, mods are free.

The DLC for New Vegas were epic though, even though there was an abysmal wait time between them. (The only thing I didn't really like was the Burned Man turning out to be a preachy Mormon guy after having been the bane of the NCR for years.)

I'm guessing the OP saw the September release date on a Gamespot forum or somewhere? If we're thinking of the same thread, the dude is a pretty obvious troll, seeing as how he refused to give any evidence and consistently redirected the topic.

That being said, the best we can do is just hope that it'll even release for PS3, and that if it does it will be at around 30 days after rather than on some GOTY edition a year from now. It will frustrate myself and probably a lot of other gamers if they don't release it for PS3 or delay it as late as some are expecting for PS3, but in the end that probably doesn't amount to much. Personally I love Skyrim as a game, but it has its share of problems and the company simply doesn't seem to give a troll's fart about PS3 users, if anything I suspect they may straight up loathe us. I'm tired of feeling discriminated against based on what game console I bought for relaxation and fun, but for now there's not really much anyone can do except for those desperate enough to go buy a 360 to play it. (I really, truly hope no one is that desperate to play a DLC, especially on a system that will be outdated by New Year 2014).

As soon as any official word comes down, I'm positive you'll have no problem finding the info. There are so many repetitive threads on here, it's kinda ridiculous. Not attacking the OP or anything, but it's tiring seeing identical threads everywhere, especially on the same page.

The delay is most likely due to the fact that Bethesda just want to make sure Dawnguard works right on the PS3, and not to have the same issues millions of PS3 users had with Skyrim when it was released which was not properly resolved for 4 months after its intial release. I don't particularly mind it being delayed as long as the bloody thing works right, I have already seen multiple threads with people having issues with Dawnguards performance so it seem that technically the early release of Xbox is a further testing passed the Beta stage (possibly lol). As for holding back the PC I have know idea, that was the only platform this game actually worked properly on.

Or it could just be that Bethesda are getting a massive pay out from Microsoft to hold back the release date in hopes that everyone will get fed up and just go and get an Xbox lol Microsoft have been known for there petty-ness and some-what unethical techniques for getting ahead in the market.

Now lets wait for the outraged Xbox user slanderings I will get for saying that. :D
