Dawnguard is the best dlc you have made yet bethesda!

Reason they don't do anything is because they know you are to powerful to actually be replaced.

I wouldn't say the DLC was rushed at all, more like you got your expectations way too high and started all the raging at Bethesda when it didn't reach those expectations. I found both sides of the DLC amazing in my opinion and with all the added content I easily think this is one of the best DLC Bethesda has done, up there with Bloodmoon/Shivering Isles.

So they will scheme vs harkon whos VL form is even more powerful than the players. But they still disrespect an threaten the player even after hes the leader and dont scheme or even comment on harkons death? Right....

Dawnguard is good if you dont revisit any of the content and see the flaws. Its fun for a one-way ride.

In your opinion, I've happily revisited most locations and content although the one thing I do wish is that the Soul Cairn had more meat to it.

You can do KOTN faction quests in any order you want.

and then the areas are pretty much ignored for the rest of the game and they look like common dungeons while you claim that Dawnguard areas are dull and boring and are nowhere near interesting enough to visit again.

Only a few and doing so doesn't really effect the game and if you're using that arguement that you have DG quests where you can choose who to recruit first or which Elder scroll to go after first.

KotN was one of the best endings. You got your whole team praising you. Theres basicslly alittle party outside and a final speech. Thats perfect.

Dawnguard endings were horrible
Spoiler
"GG harkon is dead, No one gives a fig"

Might want to follow my lead there buddy. As obvious an ending as it may be, still.... you know what I mean?

I haven't played Dawnguard, but I'm going to disagree anyway on the basis of Shivering Isles.

Bloodmoon too, but that wasn't really DLC. More of a retail expansion.

Guys im sorry, I have changed my mind. I wrote this before I finished the dlc. The ending was rushed and really bad it has turned me off the dlc. You cant even upgrade the strongholds. Most of the npcs in faction dont even realise your the leader. Its skyrims base guilds all over again.

I was expecting content after being the leader since I thought this would be the chance bethesda had to show us a skyrim guild that wasnt rushed due to deadlines, Yet sadly this dlc was still rushed at the end and you get the same feeling as you do when you beat skyrim main quest and collede of winterhold faction.

You don't become the leader, at least not for the Dawnguard side.

Im loving this dlc so much! great new content and I love the dawnguard side of building up a faction and love the characters on the vampire side. Very well written quests. This is why you need to hire writers bethesda. I know when TES6 comes out you wont be able to have alot of good storys like this since you only got like afew good writer devs on your team.

Btw you need to market your dlc better! My friends didnt even know there any skyrim dlc. They dont use forums.

Edit:

LOL. This post pretty much sums up Bethesda's fickle fanbase.

Playing the game - "OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!"

Beats the game - "WTF WORST GAME EVER!!"

Shivering Isles has it beat by a mile

To be honest SI wasn't that great, the only thing that really made it good was Sheogorath and a few other characters, other then that it was pretty boring and didn't really last that long not to mention the areas seemed all alike after awhile and the writing and depth weren't that great.

a bit is underestimating how much its overrated, its overrated a lot and people compare every dlc ever released by a Bethesda game to it, hell I've seen people compare Fallout NV dlcs to SI.

I enjoyed Shivering Isles quite a bit. It wasn't perfect, but it added that much needed "environmental diversity" that vanilla Oblivion lacked, and had some very memorable characters.

However, Bloodmoon remains my favorite Elder Scrolls DLC of all time.

Bloodmoon was alright, tribunal and bloodmoon are two of my favorite and personally I disliked everything about Oblivion and its DLCs, now Dawnguard is a really good DLC in my opinion.

Dawnguard is a wonderful expansion with well written characters, good gameplay additions, beautifully told story, and true replayabiliy (though some will argue against this). However, to call it the best DLC Bethesda has released is a bit of an overstatement. Every character in it has strong personality development, but there is an expansion that has it beat there. No character in Dawnguard can I see developing the cult-like following that exists for Sheogorath.

In regards to gameplay mechanics, I will give Dawnguard this in regards to gameplay additions as added by a DLC. To my knowledge, the only big addition in a previous addon for an Elder Scrolls game would be Bloodmoon for Morrowind. While it was awesome to be able to play as a Werewolf again in Morrowind, werewolves and werebears and were-what-have-you had already existed in the Elder Scrolls universe. The Vampire Lord is something I had never heard of in the Elder Scrolls universe and it was done in a very interesting way.

In regards to lore, I cannot give Dawnguard the favor nor can I take it away. When it comes to learning more about a story it is all about what story interests the reader. While this did teach us a lot about vampire history, culture, and religion, perhaps not everyone finds this to be the most interesting bit of lore. it had grand revelations on the scale of the revelation of Sheogorath original form (not stating for the sake of possible spoilers, in which case, go back and play the previous games kids >_<). It is a solid expansion on lore, as were many other expansions.

However, I will give Dawnguard one more point in my argument. They did cater to the consumer here, which when making a product is good. We wanted mounted combat, they gave us mounted combat. People have been complaining about vampires since Morrowind (it was just so much more fun to be in a coven), they gave us a vampire faction and a form that would make even a power-gamer consider being a vampire. We loved the Werewolves, they improved on them even if they weren't even related to the expansion. There is always more they could have delivered on, but I really cannot recall the players being catered to in such a way by any other expansion.

The thing is the only character in SI to actually get a cult following is Sheogorath and he was already very popular among TES fans before that.

Well, it all comes down to personal preference, I suppose.

Without bias in regards to their base games (Oblivion being my least favorite TES game), I'd have to say my ranking system would look something like Bloodmoon > Shivering Isles ~= Tribunal > KoTN.

I won't be able to play Dawnguard until it comes out for PC, unfortunately/ =/

I don't understand the love for KoTN...maybe its just that I don't care for "Holier-than-thou" crusader groups or the fact that the writing was pretty weak and there was no real depth or surprises or real content besides a few normal looking dungeons, a manor with like no storage space and a group of useless companions that would die quickly and a new armor set with two weapons.

Sheogorath was the only one to gain a cult following from SI. I was just trying to sum up where the game stood on all levels I thought mattered haha. Personally, my favorite expansions will always be Tribunal and Bloodmoon simply because they hold a special place in my heart (and look at how little I talked about them). As Levanon said, it's all about personal preference.
