Dawnguard is the best dlc you have made yet bethesda!

I don't understand the love for KoTN...maybe its just that I don't care for "Holier-than-thou" crusader groups or the fact that the writing was pretty weak and there was no real depth or surprises or real content besides a few normal looking dungeons, a manor with like no storage space and a group of useless companions that would die quickly and a new armor set with two weapons.

Yeah, the story was predictable, it didn't really add anything interesting to the game, and felt too "black and white." Though to be fair, vanilla Oblivion didn't hold my interest any better.

Try the whole game felt "black and white" though, even if you were a DB member.

KotN and Oblivion in general were kind of dark days for the Elder Scrolls series... If they were a part of any other game series they would have been hailed as great but, while they were good, they just paled in comparison to what Bethesda had already achieved. I lost many hours of my life to Oblivion but it never had the magical control over my life that Morrowind had. Sure, I played through KotN nearly without stopping but I wasn't blown away with how much there was to do (because there wasn't much) as compared to Tribunal and Bloodmoon. I think that's why they worked their butts off on SI :P

Speaking of being black and white, did anybody just not feel evil enough with the Dawnguard Vampire quest line? I mean I liked how they had a way for you as a vampire to work for good but I felt as if a certain sense of baby-eating//punting maliciousness was missing...

I agree Morrowind was pretty much one of the few games that could have that magic hold on me.

Yea a few people have said that the dawnguard after awhile start looking like complete a-holes, honestly I can see them as acting like an Inquisition like group doing whatever they can to hunt down vampires, even if it means roughing up or killing a few civilians.

KOTN was not black and white, the original leader of the knights was a murdering socio-path.

I love this DLC, I have not finished it yet but just making vampires playable for me is great. I love pretty much everything about the vampire lord. I am hoping the dawnguard side is as interesting, even though I care nothing for crossbows or heavy armor.

That's kind of why I joined the vampires and not the Dawnguard for my first play through to be honest haha. I'm wary of anything fanatical or too strongly religious based, and my first run in with the Dawnguard rubbed me wrong. They were 100% fanatically obsessed with killing vampires (not exactly bad not exactly good) but the way in which (spoiler... Even if it's just of 5 minutes in) they treated a Vigilant of Stendarr just wishing to gain aid was just cold to me. They felt nothing like good guys. Then after meeting Serana and seeing how charming she is, I chose to join up with the Vampires and stick close to Serana, keeping her safe.

Not to mention the use of armored trolls by the Dawnguard also rubbed me wrong... These beasts are destructive, dangerous, and difficult to control, yet the Dawnguard equips them with armor and blades on their armor. Sounds dangerous and desperate haha.

TL;DR Dawnguard felt like bad guys, Serana specifically felt like the only good gal there.

Not to sound like a dike, but the label of "murdering socio-path" is pretty black and white. And since the in-game faction harbors no dark secrets to reflect its origins, it's a bit of a moot point.

dawnguard would be physically impossible to be the best.Since the shivering isles had way more content and more landmass.dawnguard is way smaller than it.

I would say nothing tops the Shivering Isles, not even the base game of oblivion.

It's good, I just started it, never played SI but for what Ive been Shivering Isles is a huge expansion and this is just a DLC with no huge areas to explore, but It adds nice content and the story is great.... BTW I have one question... when you finish it will you continue finding random vampire attacks or is it just over? cuz I like this is full of action

I think that I most likely think it is too, but I reserve judgement until I have played the Volkihar side of the story.

I consider it the best DLC, next to Bloodmoon! The others are too boring.
* looks at Werewolf&Vampire's post*
I saw that one coming!
BTW: same for me, I loved Bloodmoon!

Dawnguard is certainly decent. It seems so stark against vanilla Skyrim, it has its own particular atmosphere that for me at least is prominent. That's the most important thing.

I would have liked a little more depth however. Some things weren't really expanded on that well. The "politics" and infighting seemed superficial to me, and was rarely an issue.
