Dawnguard Vampire Faces: The red slit

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 5:33 pm

So for those of you playing the DLC as vampires right now, some may have noticed on several Mer races and I believe on Imperials as well that there is a red slit going from the tip of the player's nose down to the chin. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was default based on race, or if this was caused by a misplaced slider.

If anyone knows what causes this, I would be appreciative because I dont want my character looking like he got a permanent nosebleed.

I play as a bosmer vampire...never noticed this.

Can't look right now, so I can't be 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident that red slit doesn't exist on my character so...maybe you have something going on with your save / disc? Does reloading make it go away?

No, this is a constant visual on my Altmer male vampire. My other vampires do not have this feature. This was also mentioned in the Closed Beta forums a couple times, but we couldn't pinpoint the exact cause from what I recall.

Hrm...weird. Sorry bud but I can't help you - it isn't happening to mine.

EDIT -- Could just be a bug, which may then get worked out in an update.

My Dunmer Male Vampire has that red slit as well. I wasnt sure if my game messed up on loading or if it was lag but a bug makes sense. It's just weird to me eitherway.

I have one on my Orc, looks pritty cool IMO, if you have ever watched Blade 2 and seen the reaper vampires, they have a line going down there jaw, looks pritty similar IMO, but no this is a permenant effect.

Well, I was going to say that it is likely a texture seam, but this explanation is a lot cooler.

Really? So far I have fed quite a bit both in VL form and normally, through battle, seduction and castle thralls but the thing is still there. Oh well...I can always just make myself bald and rename myself Jared Nomak I guess :P

You can say that about any problem but it doesn't help.

Have you tried making a new character and making him a vampire? Do you have it on all older saves? Have you tried restarting the game and checking again? That's all I can think of.

oh i'm not worried about it at all. i think it looks neat. and the red lips...its from drinking peoples blood. obviously.

i just hate how people think that even though they are a vampire, their character is supposed to be beautiful. you're a friggin vampire! you're gonna be ugly! get over it.

Pretty sure it's not a bug or glitch. My Breton has one and it seems to be more noticeable when I reach stage 4. I'd rather it not be there, but it really doesn't bother me. It's not like I can see my character's face while I'm playing the game anyways.

this was brought up during beta, along with countless other vampire bugs beth chose not to fix (as well as other general bugs that i saw during beta that never got fixed -_- )

it is not based on any slider nor anything you have done in your game, its a texture issue of some sort, a very rare few report not having the issue but if you do its probobly there to stay and there is not really anything you can do about it.

its very sad, vampires got really cool in this update, but they are to visually buggy for me to want to play one :(

and yes, apearence matters, ask anyone in the world anyware ever.

Wouldn't be an issue except half the vampires in the DLC do not have the weird red line, it's irritating to have it on your own character when it doesn't seem to be the 'default' for vampires.

It is not a bug, vampires are now supposed to have the red slit and I would have liked to have the bat-like face as well. All characters I tested had the red slit but some races are bugged and do not have the new yellow eyes, just the old vampire eyes that now glow.

My Dunmer and Breton have it, i think it is like the "young" version of the Bat face most of the vamps in Harkon's court have and it is awesome

That is quite possible though it would have been good if you get the bat-like face at stage four though. Gives players more reasons to feed.
