don't play Dawnguard watch it's various sources to understand or get the shortest story telling ever! lol

i know right and it's funny because the Dawnguard story lol can be seen in related movies, games, and tv shows about hunting vampires and while the vampires it's like they taken off from a myth about vampires or something ugh no wonder Dawnguard isn't a 10/10

Always got the idea that they copied Babette from Interview with a Vampire.

I feel it's more an anolgram of everything sans Twilight. Crossbows = Van Hellsing, VL form + Werewolf bonuses = Underworld, chance for Vampire Hunter to be a Vampire = Blade/Hellsing, and Vampire who wants revenge on a God = Dracula.

After looking at this DLC very closely...this DLC is like a Van Helsing storyline humans vs Vampires

In that case, I would love to transform into a bigger, blacker, more badass wolf to kill the final boss, like Van Helsing.

You know when I saw the Vampire Lord in the vid Todd showed after the game was released I thought it was a bad joke. Why would they ever really add something as goofy and SO OVER DONE as that to a TES game.

Joke was on me I guess.

Bethesda lost all thier originality after Morrowind.

To be honest if it took you THIS LONG to realize Dawnguard is just a blatant rip-off of mainstream media's most popular interpretations of Vampires instead of an original Bethesda idea (yknow, like the Volkihar in Immortal Blood before the book got retconned) then no, you don't deserve your 1600 MS points back.

No, not sans Twilight. Serana is a transsixual Edward Cullen.

Actually Serana is more like Selenefrom underworld. She even looks slightly like her. And thank you for posting a topic we have seen so many times now. Also thank you for being one of those irritating people that can't mention Vampires without having to add twilight to the conversation.

And no, it didn't take anyone "this long" to realize anything. From the very first trailer people already made connections to existing vampire movie things. It's just that a bunch of them did what you did and the rest of us moved on and acted like adta without anger problems.

Want to complain? Complainanout the bugs. Rage all you want but the DLC and its story are here to stay, the bug problems on the other hand...those can still be changed.

Read Bram Stoker's Dracula ;)

(or watch the '92 Coppola version)

The whole sunlight thing was from Nosferatu. The idea just caught on and got added to popular vampire lore.

But Dracula didnt invent Vamps, every culture has a ton of mythology on them and in some they burned in the sun

Excuse me?

I DIDN'T bring up this topic that's been done dozens of times before; OP did.

I DIDN'T bring up Twilight; the guy I quoted did. Hell, the guy that said "at least they don't sparkle" came even before the guy I quoted.

And yes, apparently it DID take OP "this long" to make the connection, and obviously I agree with you that people have been making the connection since the trailer, if my point was OP deserves to lose his 1600 MS points for taking this long to make the connection we've all been making since god knows when.
I don't know what your problem is, but if you're going to try and attribute EVERY part of this thread you don't like back to me, when all I did was comment on comments and observations made by others who came before me, then I detect illogical hate-targeting. Calm yourself down.

And on that topic, the OP and everyone else still has a right to complain. With your attitude that no one should ever complain about released and intended content, for example, Mass Effect 3's ending never would've been changed.

I meant in terms of looks and the conveniently similar name. (or at least as close as you can get using Skyrim's character creation)

But Dracula didnt invent Vamps, every culture has a ton of mythology on them and in some they burned in the sun

I am well aware of that, I meant in terms of Vampires in popular culture as Stoker's vampires were written in the late 1800's and Nosferatu came out in the 1920's.

If you want to argue vampire folk lore it can be posited that original folk lore varies and in many places vampires ranged from seductive creatures of the nught of bloated corpses feasting on flesh.

The most common ideas of ghouls and zombies today originally were started with ideas taken from vampire folk lore mostly found in eastern europe ;)

Only someone who completely lacks creativity themselves would say that something which revolves around vampires clearly stole everything from movies. If that's the case, the movies stole everything from books. And the books from folklore and old wives tales. And those from hunting stories the men would tell in the evening. And those from reality. Maybe.

Van Helsing doesn't have a monopoly on anything vampire related. Hell, the stories behind vampires have been around for thousands of years. So, if anything, Dawnguard was based off some pretty old mythology/folklore. Blade? Really? I am having a hard time taking your post seriously. If a humans vs. vampire theme is a blatant rip off of some main stream movies, isn't the whole idea of a civil war over the throne with multiple contenders and an empire kind of a rip off from Game of Thrones? Or an ancient evil threatening the entire world a blatant rip off of Lord of the Rings?

EDIT: I suppose this is Skyrim. We shouldn't have anything that could possibly resemble another fantasy universe, that would just be unethical and unoriginal.

Vampires are attributed to mythology, actually Serana is most likely based on Lilith because she is seductive yet Whiny and rebellious (and a Vamp of course), betraying her father for what she sees as a greater good. Pop Culture has twisted Vamps enough to erase the Mythological roots so nobody ever says "You stole that from Russian Folklore"

I believe the reason Dawnguard is coming under particular scrutiny is because....

Serana is most likely based on Lilith because she is seductive yet Whiny and rebellious (and a Vamp of course), betraying her father for what she sees as a greater good.

The similarities are quite incredible at times...
