Did Bethesda learn anything from previous games?!

Have they?

ME3 still sold. I doubt the care what some interweb people say.
sadly this is the truth,no matter what happens people will still bend over and accept it.
I think they will try to avoid similar incidents in the future. As a business I would imagine that they would want to avoid such controversies. There are plenty of people who didn't just bend over and fan critisism has an effect.

Mass Effect isn't the first IP they've nuked, and won't be the last.

You seam to not really understand friend, TES games are these huge open world games that push the systems to there vary limit, bugs, glitches, and freeze are common in TES games.

Or they're just poorly optimized and coded. You know that saying bugs, glitches, and freezes are common isn't really a point in Bethesda's favor, right?

I wouldn't say it's the pushing of limits - glitches will still happen on uber steroid PC gaming rigs. I think it's simply the sheer volume of code and programming that goes into it - the more stuff you have bouncing around and interacting, the more stuff will go wrong.

Basically, the bigger and more detailed the game, the glitchier it will be. GTA will always be glitchier than Forza and FIFA for example. Bigger game, more different stuff happening, more which can go wrong. :)

Maybe the 10 year old engine is the problem? ... I dont know but i'am considering to not buy the next DLC and boycott it.I'am geting tired of this, feeling like in a time warp, like in the movie Groundhog Day.

Feel free to let off some steam

Wrong, Skyrim uses a new engine, kind of surprised you didn't catch that. Also you can't effectively boycott something if you're the only one doing it. Also, if you have all these problems with all these games, and you keep buying them, it seems you may be the fool here. If it's still worth the money and that's why you buy them, then why did you make this thread?

Maybe this would not happen had Bethesda used a new engine instead of Gamebryo with a different name.
This is what i said to myself, true

1.They used a modified version of the old engine.Seems you are the only one thinking they used a "new" engine, but thats incorrect.

2.You should read the definition of "boycott" before you post nonsense.

3.Why do people buy something? They buy a product becouse they either like it or they find it useful. That doesn't mean it has to be flawless or people wont buy it.But if problems i and many others had/have,tend to happen over and over again, then something is going terribly wrong.Maybe i'am a fool but at least i ask questions and talk about things that are going wrong.

4.I made this thread to talk about peoples expirience with previous games and if they think that Beth games have actually improved, bug and stability wise.If you aren't interested in contributing anything productive or keep your posts at an advlt, civil level, then why did you make this post?

Don't buy it then, it's your choice... also Bethesda didn't make Fallout NV, they just published it.

Why not agree with him, because he does make a powerful point.

Well, to get this ship back on track: in terms of this point, I've not really seen a difference in terms of bugs, but my experience if skyrim in comparison to oblivion has been WAY more stable - oblivion would freeze and crash with such frequency I actually became able to spot the warning signs in the frame rate, and often managed to squeeze in a save just before the game froze up. Skyrim has frozen, ooh, 5 times in the 200+ hours I've been playing. Oblivion has frozen on me that many times in a day.

Overall, BSF notwithstanding (which i thankfully never experienced) I've found this game to be way more stable. That's my personal experience though, I wish I could share it with other less fortunate souls :(

I must admit you ARE right, however, to a limit. He thought that Bethesda would learn from their previous mistakes and finally put some testers on the game and their DLC. Speaking from personal experience...

The sad thing, as i see it, is that they won't work on patches for skyrim in the future (meybe they get to the 1.9-2.0 patches?) and it will still be buged as hell... the countdown is running :(
This is what has me concerned the patches so far has only properly fixed quest the arrow clean up and the nirnroot glow stacking. 1.2 pretty much broke magic and the dragons, 1.3 was a fix to fix 1.2 and 1.3 broke enemy and plant respawns, 1.4 did not properly fix the ash pile clean ul. Lastly 1.6 did fix enemy respawns properly enemies in the wilderness still don't respawn.

1.6 also did something crazy to the magic my lightning spells pass threw enemies and sometimes the electricity does not display its animation. I've spike grow to the size of ice spears stuck in and enemy and ice spears are just gigantic inside of an enemy. I could go on.

They won't ever be able to fix the ash piles, I think. There was a long explanation why they couldn't, it applied to Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas so I think that'll apply for Skyrim too. If I find it, I'll post it.

I swear I've heard Todd say numerous times for Skyrim, FO3, and Oblivion ''We've gone through an rewritten all the code ... - new engine '' something along those lines.

Odd how Bethesda can't and the Unofficial Skyrim Patch can.

Also if they cannot fix it why add it in the first place its not cool and it gets annoying this has been a bug of their since 08.

Friendly reminder while Obsidian made New Vegas the Publisher is in charge of QA and in this case as reported Bethesda opted out of doing QA which is why their games are often buggy as hell.

My game originally didn't experience any bugs. Then they started patching it and the bugs came a marching endlessly. Every-time I patch now I wonder what new problem will the patch bring which is pretty sad.

There's a lot of things that apparently a bunch of fans can get done on their own initiative that a group of paid professionals can't, despite the fact that they wrote the code and engine that these games are made for.

No wonder why Fallout New vegas was awful someone else had a hand in it. It's common sense not to take something like a series one company has been working on and perfecting to a form of art for years, then dump it on a smaller, newer inexperienced company, with a bad track record like obsidian

They learned that unlimited training, vastly overpriced soul gems, and easily accessible artifacts make a game too easy after playing through once unless you handicap yourself.
They learned that leveling every enemy and their gear devalues gaining high-end gear and becoming high level.
They learned that people want a wide variety of armor.
They learned that without wealth exploits and unlimited training, the old leveling system can be painful and time-consuming.
They learned that companions need to make things easier for you, not be simply an easily killed burden.
They learned that people want beards, more distinguished facial differences between races, crossbows, better perks of being a vampire, and mounted combat.
They learned that people like mutually exclusive factions.

Yes Skyrim does falter in some areas, such as guild questlines. But I think they've learned a lot and put what they've learned to good use.

I believe Obsidian was actually formed from what was left of Black Isle, the original makers of the Fallout series.

Implying a distinction were it isnt welcome.

yes Obsidian made New Vegas...with Bethesdas own Gamebryo engine.

The benefits go hand in hand with the bugs!

Id say the biggest problem was Gamebryo was tailored to slow moving projectiles.

This made oblivions arrows accurate enough through "Predictive Aiming" yet avoidable if you were good enough.

...but also let a Talon Company merc in Fallout dance around at a million miles an hour shooting at you non stop through a scoped sniper rifle...AND EVERY SHOT WAS A WINNER! :swear:

Tha hot smelly garbage game design nearly made me ditch FO3!

You're partially right, some employees from Black Isle went to form Obsidian. The rest stuck with Interplay and they sued Bethesda. (I have no idea what happened with that, or if it's even still going on)

I believe that was about the Fallout Online MMO, and last i heard that is still open, and thus not to be discussed in these forums.

In truth, I rarely get crashes from Skyrim. When I do crash, it's usually because I run my console and the game disc like a slave driver. Binging for 7+ hours in one sitting really exausts one or the other.

When all you make is massive openworld games you gotta expect a few bugs. For what it is, Skyrim is remarkably stable. There's a million different variables all running at the same time.
