Dlc better not be online download only...

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:32 am

that was something that really ticked me off about Fallour: New Vegas was that the DLC was only downloadable from the internet. i dont have Xbox live, and cannot get it, and it would beyond svck if i was left out of the DLC because they decided to be cost efficient and make the releases online only. i know bethesda frequently makes Game of the Year editions that have all the DLC in it, but i would hate to re-buy skyrim for $65 just for the DLC, and end up having 2 discs. so it would be much better for people like me if bethesda released individual discs, like they did for oblivion, with the content on them for around $25 each. does anybody know anything concerning this?

If you have a buddy with xbox live I'm pretty sure you can :
Spoiler
transfer his DLC to a flash drive and then upload it to your xbox.
I think?
I know it works with updates, I have done it in the past before I got xbox live.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure the DLC (DownLoadable Content, after all) is going to be download only, at least until there's a GOTY edition.

I'm pretty sure that these days they won't be releasing a DLC disk except for a GOTY editiion.

I do not own an xbox ... but I believe you can get a free month trial of xbox live yes? Surely can use this trial and download whatever you pay for I would imagine.
If not then I wouldn't expect dlc on discs, but they did do it for fallout 3 so you never know.

You don't need to pay for XBox Live. A Silver membership is free, and you can download all you like.

Can't chat and such (I believe, I don't use that feature anyway) but DL content? As much as you like.

honestly its not feasible for them to do so, your part of a very very small percentage who dont have access to the internet and making discs isnt cheap especially if they dont sell.

Lets see, im gona say this once so listen carefully

DLC = DOWN LOAD CONTENT . . . which translates to "download from the interwebs"

I assume this will make it clear

Just asking but how do you have internet without xbox live? Is the internet not at your house? You could take your xbox there and download it then. If you have internet just plug your ethernet cord into your xbox.

For Oblivion & Fallout 3 they put the DLC on disk so people without internet could get it, for New Vegas they didn’t... you had to buy the complete version. So nobody knows what will happen with Skyrim, they may and they may not.

As stated you can get a free XBL account and purchase the content that way, if you don't have a way of paying for it through XBL, you can get a points card at all major retailers.

As you are online, I will assume you have some form of internet, so running a Ethernet cable from your Xbox to your router or modem should be possible.

a very very small percentage?

Certainly people from US, Europe, Canada, Russia, China don't exactly have a horrible infrastructure can make online content only viable and has for several years, 3rd world countries are not the main selling spots of games hell we are at the point games require a internet connection because of the release now patch later thought process we see devs do either due to time restraints or stopping used copies/new copy benefits.

Anyways as drag said DLC = Downloadable content. Originally yes any new add ons especially minor will only be accessible through downloading it. The GOTY may or may not include EVERY little add on it will include the first main content package.

Xbox live is not an ISP. And believe it or not, they have these computer-machines that use the intertubes nowadays as well. Sounds crazy, I know.

DLC = Downloadable Content.

All the Oblivion DLC was only available via download.

What you're talking about are the expansion packs, and they're different. It's a possibility in Skyrim, as they said they are prefering to do large expanions rather than the smaller DLCs from fallout.

I did phrase that a bit bad for people with less reading comprehension to understand, but seriousuly man? If you have internet and an xbox, all you have to do is plug an ethernet cord in. I have an ethernet cord running from the back of my computer to my xbox, works swell.

You can download the dlc with xbox free accounts, and if you are on the net, then you should be able to get online on th console, just plug it into whatever you are currently using....

You don't need a gold membership to download DLC on Xbox. Gold memberships are just for playing online and joining parties.

You can and will be able to download any DLC they release using a free account. Just hook your xbox up to the internet. Simple as that.

*source* myself after having owned a 360 for 7ish years.

My spelling and grammar errors did not detract anything from what I said. I merely spoke truth. I just wanted to know how he had internet but no access to xbox live. Anyways sorry for offending you.
