Dominos or Papa Johns

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 12:27 pm

I don't think it's about whether or not they'd serve you; it's about whether or not you'd buy from them. I don't watch Fox News and would never buy a BMW (for reasons which are pretty evident, but I won't go into in order to avoid issues with forum rules). It's all about supporting those who you agree with and not supporting those who you disagree with .
This is exactly what I'm pointing out, but a transaction involves at least a seller and buyer. Adding politics into a business transaction, if none already exists, stands to hurt consumer choices. FOX News is a news channel that delves into politics so people are going to make political decisions about whether or not they want to watch it. If I go out to buy a cheeseburger, or say a play gym for my daughter, if the political aspect isn't getting between my ability to choose a product unhampered, unhindered, and not being proselytized to, it wouldn't make sense to force that because in the end it limits my choices, which = bad for consumer. It also tells those who supply products likeability is more important than product quality, also bad for consumer. In the case of OP we're talking about pizza. Shouldn't be much politics involved unless you want to delve into where each individual morsel of food that went into making the pizza derived from and the company that supplied it, or look at the business' political contributions to some PAC but this has nothing to do with business between them and you and is an added waste of time.

Dominos is my favorite pizza place even over small places. I love small places over big chains when it comes to hamburgers because they really do have better ingredients there but honestly even if small pizzeria places have fresher topics than Dominos their constant fascination with burning the bread ruins it. And the greasy ham is actually pretty darn good.

Really when you go to small places they always advertise themselves like "real oven baked pizza!" but then it svcks because it′s burnt. Really this is the 21st century, we don′t need to use old fashioned ovens anymore, we can use new modern ovens that don′t burn the pizza.

I haven′t tasted Papa Johns pizza (not even sure we have those in Iceland) so for now Dominos is the best.

We don't have Papa John's in Canada but we have Domino's. We also have a large Canadian pizza franchise in Ontario called http://www.pizzapizza.ca/PPLWeb/CommandServlet?command=screenscmd&screenID=homepage. I prefer it to almost anything besides Pizza Hut and specialty italian restaurants.

Whaa?? Papa Johns is EVERYWHERE here. Pizza Pizza though, is found Saskatchewan and farther East.\

My favorite though, is Pizza 73. Best selection and their roasted chicken, jalapenos, and salsa for sauce is to die for.

EDIT: Apparently Pizza Pizza is the bigger name for Pizza 73. lol I thought both websites looked similar.

EDIT2: And picking local pizzerias over larger chains can be good and bad. Alot seem to neglect any kind of food safety and I've seen lots shut down for health violations. But on the other hand, you'll find that one small place that should be on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. Like http://www.cocobrooks.com/

Your definition of burned may be different from mine, but if you ever eat at a place that cooks a good pizza in a brick oven and they cook it well, a modern oven just can't match up.

TBH, I'm not crazy about either one, but if no other options are available I'll take Papa Johns thin crust. Given a choice though, I'll take a place around me called Marion's Piazza...Large pepperoni and sausage.

Damn, now I'm hungry.

I love both. I prefer Papa Johns over Dominoes, but the Dominoes now is much tastier than the past version. I like a lot of pizza chains.

Domino's. I like Papa John's but ever since Domino's started using that new recipe nothing else comes close to beating it.

My mistake to generalize. I even googled to see if Pizza Pizza was all across Canada was surprised to see that they just saturated the Ontario pizza market.

I googled the Pizza 73 website as I was aware of it when I googled the latter. Pizza Pizza has stronger branding!

I just got papa john's with my sister just a few minutes ago.

And for one who had dominoes at work for a Christmas Feast, I prefer Papa John's.

More filling to me, but pizza is pizza hard to go wrong with, even Caesar's is decent.

Wick's is a local pizza chain(Well its got a few places to go to) and it stuffs its pizza with alot of tiny sausages.

Probably because Godfathers from the 80's is different from contemporary Godfathers. If there even are still GF pizzas around.

I just Googled it and found two of them within 10 miles of me. it's possible that it's outdated information and they're no longer there, but one of my co workers mentioned just today that I was insane for not liking Godfathers. Different people have different tastes.

I haven't had Papa John's since college (and it was garbage then, but cheap). I don't remember the last time I had Domino's. I live in Chicago proper, so I have access to "real" pizza without needing to resort to "fast food" pizza.:P

Domino's, but I'm not too fussy; I'll also take Papa John's, Pizza Hut or Little Caesar's. I actually can't stand any of the "real" pizza joints around here, gimme the fake stuff any day.

Papa Johns or Papa Murphys...

Locally...
Double Daves even though they have horrible drivers.... took about 45 minutes for them to get to where we were.
Mangias
Southside Flying Pizza
Homeslice

......
Little Caeser? tastes like bread with crap tossed on and heated in a toaster oven for a few hours.

And all the people who live in Italy guffaw at people who think Chicago has real pizza, like the people who live near Italian/american areas who guffaw at people who get fastfood pizza.

Local Cleveland area pizza chain called Antonio's completely wipes Dominos, Papa John's, and Pizza Hut, off the map. I'd put it up against any Chicago or New York pizza with confidence. Another local pizza chain called Teresa's Pizza isn't quite as good as Antonio's, but it still obliterates the big three franchises.

Basically. So did this other local place my mom used to pick up every Monday after work. They had a $4 medium special. Literally just microwaved pizzas they made the night before. Tasted like cardboard. For some reason no one realized that but me.

I will agree with the general sentiment that both are rather blah, especially compared to a local pizzeria (Newberg Oregon Abbey's FTW ). If i had to chose betweent eh two I would go with Dominoes. I haven't had their pizza in many years but have heard some good things about their recent re-branding.

Oh, there's no guffawing happening. It's not easy to even find a Papa John's or Domino's here. It's mostly individual restaurants and local chains with 2 or 3 locations around the city. You have to go to the suburbs to find Papa's or Domino's (outside of the odd Domino's here or there, but they're few and far-between). And by "real" I mean not chock full of preservatives and other chain restaurant stuff. To me the pizza from most of the chain pizza places tastes waaaaay too salty.
