Dominos or Papa Johns

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 12:51 am

I prefer Dominos over Papa Johns pizza. I find the Dominos pizza to be spicier and tastier all around. Thoughts?

Both are slimy garbage to me. :P
I prefer a small local business over any of the pizza franchises. Fresher toppings and much less grease, for the same price.

The new recipe Dominos is using is actually quite delicious. I was surprised myself.

In these parts, Papa John's is far better if a little inconsistent; Dominos are more consistent, but consistently vile. They're not quite as bad as Pizza Hut, but that isn't saying much.

I'm sure they didn't used to be that bad, I mean all three are worse than I remember from years ago, and I'm sure my tastes haven't gone particularly upmarket over time.

We don't have Papa John's in Canada but we have Domino's. We also have a large Canadian pizza franchise in Ontario called http://www.pizzapizza.ca/PPLWeb/CommandServlet?command=screenscmd&screenID=homepage. I prefer it to almost anything besides Pizza Hut and specialty italian restaurants.

Gotta agree with this. Dominos beats just about every other "pizza" franchise. Anytime I'm craving one, their who I go to.

Speaking of which.. :liplick:

Domino's or Papa John's is like comparing the time I vomited because I was sick and the time I vomited because I ate too much. At the end of the day, the latter is better, but they both still svck.

If you want good pizza, never go to a chain. Local pizzerias will always do a better job.

I'm usually not too picky about pizza, but I tend to have a preference toward MacKay's (small pizza chain in the GTA that makes New York style pizzas with huge slices) or Delissio (frozen). I've had a few decent pizzas from Dominoes but having a few friends who worked at a restaurant of theirs at some point, found out most of their stuff is pre-made and reheated cardboard. If I were to go cheap pizzas, I'd probably prefer Little Caesars.

Domino's is one of the few big pizza chains that actually has branches here, and it's awful. Blegh.

Dominos' old recipe was complete garbage. Their new recipe is worlds better, but still tastes like cardboard and tomato paste. I used to eat it all the time because it was the only place that would deliver (and when you live in a very rural area, delivery is the only thing that determines where you get your pizza).

Now that I have moved to a more suburban area, I will never order from Dominos again as long as I live.

Papa Johns is really not that good either. I prefer any of the small local places or my own homemade.

Nothing can beat homemade cooked on a brick pizza. Although I prefer Papa Murphy's over both Dominoes and Papa Johns.

The local pizzeria are usually superior as its usually made fresh and I can see them making them. Otherwises, its either Costco Pizza or Little Caesars if I am that hungry for pizza.

Domino's is headed up by Tom Monaghan, who spends a lot of money to support right wing causes. Could be a plus or minus depending where you stand. On topic, I think it depends which stoned teenager is working the kitchen at your local branch.

Would they deny me business based on my political stances? I doubt it, so whatever they do with their revenue (outside of the business they conduct with customers) doesn't matter to me unless I own stock. OTOH, In-N-Out Burger's religious proselytism on the products they serve their customers with (no matter how subtle) is enough to either go elsewhere or decide not to be lazy and have my wif-- I mean grill my own burgers.

I don't think it's about whether or not they'd serve you; it's about whether or not you'd buy from them. I don't watch Fox News and would never buy a BMW (for reasons which are pretty evident, but I won't go into in order to avoid issues with forum rules). It's all about supporting those who you agree with and not supporting those who you disagree with .

For what it's worth, I live in the town where Tom Monaghan began his first pizzeria...in 1960...so I was a very wee lad then.
As far as I know, he was the first to deliver pizzas to your house.

For the record, I can't stand Dominos pizza, but I have a very deep respect for Monaghan.

Popa John's. I appreciate the inclusion of the garlic dipping butter and the pepper.

On all counts, that depends on the local business. There's a place around where I live where I swear to god, they're charging you extra for the tub of lard they melt over every pizza.

The only thing I know that's wrong with BMW is the people who drive them: there's only so much tailgating, overtaking on the inside and assorted other dangerous manoeuvres a person can be expected to put up with! We used to have a German chappie from BMW living next door, he seemed amiable enough.

Dominos Farms HQ is not too far from here, you can see it from the highway.....and let me tell you...they put on one heck of a Christmas display...

My favorite little sandwich shop is called Jimmy Johns...but I'm sure they're not all over the world....I'm aware of Papa Johns but have never eaten there.

The Pizza Company.

I don't think I've ever had a good pizza from a local pizzeria. It's all the same greasy crap with as little sauce and cheese as they can get away with slathered on [censored]e crust.

Both are pretty bad. Given the choice, I prefer local pizzerias; there's one or two good ones around where I live.

I used to like Dominoes until they decided that pizza should taste like garlic and not pizza.

Now I eat at a local family-owned pizza place. It's more expensive and sometimes inconsistent, but always a lot better. We get a family special every week which is a 2 topping large (we get feta cheese and spinach  ), breadsticks and a 2-liter of pop for $15. Yeah, you can get three Dominoes mediums for about that price, but this pizza doesn't make me gag.

Dominoes reminds me a lot of the way my dad cooks. His philosophy is that everything tastes better with ungodly amounts of garlic, nasty crunchy chunks of sea salt, and hot peppers. You might as well be eating condiments, not food.
