I recently had a nightmare which involved Bethesda making the next Fallout game.

When I fly in my dreams I'm always swimming in the air too. Sometimes it turns into a nightmare because I can't control it and float too high.
This reminds of something:
Sometimes, in my dreams/nightmares, roads "bug". Instead of being a straight line as a road should, like this:
______________________
They are buggy and go like this:
__\___\___\__\__

And no matter how I try, I can't change it to a straight road. Which is frustrating. I guess that is as close to an uncontrolled nightmare I've ever been, that I remember.

Ok, I'm going to try and describe something I've been experiencing A LOT lately. But I'm drunk, so bear with me.

I'm asleep when it happens, but rarely fully asleep. It happens more often if I'm dozing in between hitting snooze on my alarm and it going off again. It's hard to explain what happens, so I'll use an example that is probably the most common occurence:

I'm dreaming that I'm browsing the internet. I'm aware that I'm dreaming - i.e. it's like a form of lucid dreaming. Often, I'm fully aware of where I am, and it's like a computer screen image superimposed over my surroundings. I can navigate things like a normal web browser. I can look things up, and my mind creates fully-realiesed Wikipedia entries, etc. Like seriously. I can read through pages of text, word for word, but my mind has either created this from scratch, or (more likely) mashed together subconscious memories. It's awesome. I wish I could do this all the time.

I'm beginning to think it's my version of a memory palace and that in this state, I can look up anything I've ever experienced, however fleetingly, via a Wikipedia interface. I've compared stuff that I've created in my mind during these periods to actual fact, and they almost always match.

If I could learn to control this... awesome.

Of course, it might just be the booze turning me slowly insane.

I had a good dream for once and dreamed that I was on a roller coaster (the one where the railing is above you and you're dingling from it).

I actually had a dream last night of my father. Everytime I approached him he shrugged me off. I hope this dream didn't mean anything :(

Were you trying to get on him or something?

Worst I ever had was waking nightmares in which I'd sort of halfwoken up but the nightmare was still going on. I'd be walking around talking to my parents etc but the nightmare would still be there, usually a shadowy shape that wasn't there when looked at directly. Happily I haven't had those for about 40 years but I used to have them quite often.

I had a really strange dream in which I had Jewish style side-curls for some reason. I think its my subconscious telling me to get my hair cut.

had a dream the other night i was roaming around the local forest and stumbled upon a treasure chest. it was locked by a magic ward (kingdoms of amalur style), then i had my character from skyrim sneak up behind me, tried to backstab me. i avoided it with cat-like reflexes and he chased me through the forest (then i woke up)

another weird one from yesterday.. went to a camp with my mother. in the dream she was 99 years old, but it was called "level 99". i went for a walk through the camp and some random started chasing me, throwing fire bombs at me. one hit me on the head and burned off all my hair. my hair grew back long (chin length, scruffy and parted down the middle, like i had it when i was a teen) and kurt cobain appeared and chased me around the camp trying to comb my hair!

We went over dreams in general psych last Tuesday, so apparently there are four stages of sleep that you experience in addition to REM sleep. The longer you sleep, the longer REM lasts. What you remember from dreams is from REM sleep before you wake up. http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/gif/ssleep.gif

I quite regularly shout and scream in my sleep. I have no idea what my flatmate thinks, she only ever mentioned it once. Sometimes I wake myself up doing it and lay dead still thinking I've woken up the whole neighbourhood and someone is going to come and tell me off, which is crazy.

Not crazy at all. I used to think the neighbours may reprt me to the authorities. At least the local constabulary hasn't knocked at your door.

Well this is a recent one:

I threw a party at my house ( I assume ) and it was a blast. Everything was great and there was some girl that I hung around the whole time. I was carrying her I assume to my car or somewhere, I can't remember. She laughs and I look behind me, and there's a random man sitting in a chair behind us. He threatened me and I returned it. Then it went dark and I was bludgeoned. Woke up in a hospital and the guy was there and we fought. I beat him pretty badly and then I woke up.

I have no clue what it means or how that's what I dreamed of. Cool though, girl was cute I guess.

I remember when I was around 6 I had a dream that me and Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog were being forced to work in a kitchen by a bunch of identical men who I thought were from the government.
You should have just told them that the secret ingredient was vinegar.

Last night was awesome, after doing a spasm during the night because I thought I was falling, I had this dream were zombies had overrun the city and I was defending my house and making trips to the local ASDA and boozer - for some reason no one stocked up on booze or sweets before the invasion so it was a glorious trip, it turns out red barrels actually do explode - even in dreams

- Weird thing was though a girl I know who moved to New Zealand was in it and she said the outbreak of zombies started there, I will be keeping an eye on that country :P
