Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 10:24 pm

Can I see a picture of what this machine looks like? I'm a PC user so can't check it out, but from what you guys describe I have a sort of theory - Need to see it before I put it out there though

Didn't look like anything special to me - like a small-ish dome, around waist-height on my Nord I think. Kind of reminded me of a modern pizza oven actually.

There were pictures on the other thread.

Looks like one of the domes that used to cover the entrances to Dwemer ruins in Morrowind.

Except semi-submerged into the floor.

Food for thought.

For clarification, I mean the ones that literally fitted over the doors and had to be moved using a nearby crank.

maybe it is a dwemer tv and one of the dwemer would escape to his circle-shaped pod to watch what was going on in other realms, almost like tv shows. then suddenly kagrenac screwed up and he disappeared... obviously im kidding.

I think this is the most likely. After all the Dwemer Airship is in Moesring Pass but called Strange Vessel.

I read on this thread that a guy saw a black figure with his arms raised to the sun in a drawing beside the structure. Could he have mistaken this for the Dwarven Black Bow of Fate? Has someone tried shooting the sun or this Dwemer structure with the Bow of Fate?

I'm away for one day and this thread comes alive :D

People who asked for pictures: backtrack through this thread for a whole series of pictures via links I posted.

People who suggested things to try: The Steam helmet, the blood extractor, Ariel(?) Gane's ghost and the heating spell have all been tried.

Good to see the community united (mostly) over something as simple as a dead end :D Well, i'm actually on a four day break from Skyrim (as of tonight) as I want to give another game a go. My neighbour was kind enough to lend me Hitman: Absolution. However, as soon as i'm done, i'll be back on Skyrim and no doubt will still be trying to think of what the 'machine' is.

I will still check in here from time to time though :)

I know people have tried Auriels Bow on the machine. But have people tried it on the Sun and went inside while the effect was still active?

Not been tried as far as I know, though from what i've been old, using the bow in Solsthiem is difficult.

You know the more I think about it I realize this door reminds me of an old creepy pasta story about a morrowind mod with a door that would open only on a certain day.

here is a link http://inuscreepystuff.blogspot.com/2010/09/jvk1166zesp.html

you can easily draw several parallels between the two.

1.)people out at night not knowing who they are saying the same things

2.)use a scroll of Icarian flight in morrowind at the top of the map you land near where the house is in dragonborn.

3.)It is a partial dwemer ruin.

4.)the shadow could relate to herma mora seems like his minions.

So my advice to everyone "watch the skys" ^.-

Haha, that was an interesting little read. The concept of something that would only open on a certain day is certainly an interesting one, but the rest of of was really lame.
NPCs eyes bleeding? Seriously? That's the biggest cliche in these stories-- plus it was pointless.
Plus the ending was a cop-out. It's like the guy didn't know how to end it.

Still, I'll feel a bit more uneasy whenever I go down there lol (the in-game notes about the house is creepy enough though)
=p

Edit: Oh, has anyone tried searching Hrodulf's body? Or the little boat he was near? Maybe there's something there.

If not, I think this is probably pointless that isn't meant to be anything.

I only noticed the sound because I was wearing a gaming headset. I doubt it has to do anything with digging a shovel up. And Solstheim is such a small island. Collectively I think we've all been everywhere and there is nothing on the actual island that relates to the machine. So I think it's just an unfinished quest. But still. Hrodulf's corpse is nowhere to be seen so has to be something.

His body is by a boat near the shore.

Alright, because I love the "opening on one specific day" theory so much (haha it's just so creepy), I did the following:

I added up the numbers in Hrodulf's journal, and got a sum of "111" (Skyrim came out on 11/11/11)
Sooooooooooooooo....

Converting that to months in Nirn, the date would be 1/11/????, or 11/1/???? (the year is unimportant because of practicality).

Soooooo, that would be the 11th of Morning Star, or the 1st of Sun's Dusk.

The astrological signs are, for Sun's Dusk, the Atronach, and for Morning Star, the Ritual (Ooooooooooooh spooky).

So, let's see if people can make use of this.

The opening on a certain day sounds interesting. Just spam wait 24hours for a whole in-game year while sitting on the chair looking at the "door"?

If something's gonna happen, it's not the thing opening. There's nothing behind it.

Is it possible something could come up to connect to the "door" that we can't see when we clip through it?

Hit it with Volendrung. It may be a Daedric artifact, but it was Dwemer made.
