Dwemer machine in dead guy's basemant? #2

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 7:45 pm

#1 Here: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1429562-dwemer-machine-in-dead-guys-basemant/ - (I didn't start the first thread so the title for this is a copy/paste and not named by me, so don't comment on the 'machine' being/not being a 'machine').

As there were still some of us interested in debating what the 'machine' is/was and the idea of the Dwemer returning, there is another thread here to continue the discussion. Please, don't start posting hate for the return of the Dwemer - if you're not interested, don't post! Simples

Asgarr left us with: Dwemer were such an interesting race.

Discuss

Man. I really hope it's something. It's probably not tho. It's there for almost a week and no one has found anything about it. I doubt it's really something :(

No ill try it in a sec but i did try using bend will and some spells...i think im going to have to say its probably a hint at the next dlc or something the same way we got the dwarven bolts in the museum as a hint towards the crossbows i guess.

I just clipped through using the bowl on that shelf and there's nothing back there. Just the light blue expanse and a surprisingly cut off hallway.

I don't think it's the return of the Dwemer. My vote would be leaning more towards it being a lockbox or something to do with their actual machinery than with themselves.

Assuming it's just a 'decoration' or room filler, why did Beth put so much into it? The journals, the bandit dialogue, the blood-stained letter etc. Even if it doesn't do or mean anything now, maybe soon, in a patch or DLC?

Yeah, one of my pals 'in the know' mentioned it just before DB came out. At the risk of bans etc, I shall so no more. I would love to see if this 'machine' is a link to a future DLC, but why put it there now? And what IS it?

I jumped on top of it and looked all around it and it seems very special. Why'd they take so much time to make a little ball blocking a hallway? Is this a new design? Did they start to make this quest and stop, finding their time too little to finish it? The Semi-Circle just seems so out-of-place.

I had the same result when I tried it a few hours ago.

After reading all of the notes and letters I assume that this is all just a reference to H.P Lovecraft or something else.

I was half expecting it to be a Giant Dwarven Sphere when I first found it. I want to know what, if anything, the middle piece does.

I've been examining the bottom by constantly falling, and the golden plate seems to continue farther under the front of it while the top discontinues.

So its possible that this 'machine' will have a use at some point, either in DLC form or something else?

Looking at it more closely reveals it has intricate arrows or rays shooting off around it in the usual dwemer fashion which leads me to believe that it possibly represents the sun.

Edit: You don't even have to clip to see the sun comparison, just look at the bowl itself.

Some of the Dwemer architecture has a similar pattern to it, but it could mean something in this case. I doubt it's linked to DG and the bloodcursed/sunhallowed arrows, but something along those lines would be nice.

The sun in TES lore is a portal to Aetherius whence all of Nirn's magical properties are derived. Maybe that's where the Dwemer went...

I think if a DLC is likely to cover the Dwemer, it will only be so in the context of the Falmer - there is a lot of hints that they'll be involved in a DLC, what with the hints that they may be away to invade the surface, the way that Dawnguard touched upon them (What with finding some living, uncorrupted falmer and the hints that Gelebor would like to save them), and the addition of extra caravans raided by Falmer, hinting that they are becoming more active.

I'm a little late to this conversation, but I just ran into this today, and it did seem very odd that there is all this unique stuff down there but then it ends up being nothing. I was expecting a dungeon or something, but it does make you wonder if this was just a little side story of little consequence or if this is hinting at something. Has anyone made any attempts to understand that guys journal? He felt like he was leading up to something, but I don't understand.

Reminds me of an joke story, group of people learned how to teleport just by thinking of the location, then disappeared then they thought of the sun.

Aetherius has always been near to the top of my 'missing Dwemer location' list. Never played MW so not sure of the whole story of the Heart and the Dwemer vanishing, but from what i've read, its possible they didn't have a choice in the matter. If they did, maybe this 'machine' enabled to do it?

Wait has anyone tried shooting it with Auriel's Bow and the special arrows?

Falmer or Dwemer, either way it's got to give us more to go on :)

Welcome :) I did go into this a bit on thread #1, quoting various passages and explaining different things in my own opinion. Feel free to quote it and give your own opinion(s).

The Dwemer are smarter then this... Aren't they O.o
