Thank goodness for mods, eh? SkyUI ftw.

Someone already did something like this some time ago(I'm not allowed to post links here...)
After that a comparable pc system would look like this:
Radeon 7850 2GB - $200
AMD FX-6300 (Hexacore but faster per core) $120
8 GiB DDR3 - $50
Motherboard, PSU, Case ~ $150
Sum: $520
It's more than the PS4 costs because Sony gets its profit from games. Due to licence costs they're mostly a little more expensive - exceptions prove the rule.
4A Games said that the PS4 may be about 100% faster than a comparable PC because it's optimized for gaming. To get this performance you would have to use a GTX 770 for ~ $400 which would make the entire System cost about $720.
BUT: The PS3 has shown that games do not use the whole performance they could get on consoles from the beginning. So the very first games released will be on a lower level.
As with the time PC components can be upgraded and will get cheaper and faster, the unability to upgrade the PS4, beside some other disadvantages, maybe the most annoying one. So if you look at it as an investment a mid- range pc with a good upgradeable motherboard is the very better one in my opinion and I think I'm not alone with that view.
Maybe for a few months, until the next wave of PC tech comes out and suddenly its left in the dust. That's pretty much how it will go. Consoles start out as the pinnacle of game computing tech upon launch, and within a year are about on par with mid range, and then another year goes by and they're left in the dust. There's nothing a console can do that a PC can't, but there's plenty a console can't do that a PC can.
Just because one is better than the other doesn't mean that the other is bad, though. These arguments are weird.
I'm not really sure you're the average person if all of your friends are divided among every single different version of the game.
How is it any different than other MMOs having regional shards? I don't know where you hail from, stranger, but I don't really want to play with people that I can't communicate with language-wise or on a server that has a ridiculous latency for me, and I don't understand why anyone else would either. (this is assuming you're talking about foreign megaservers not being merged, if not then just ignore my rambling)
As far as the console/computer divide..I think its a good thing. I don't really want to be merged with console players, and I know for a fact back in FFXI the PC players didn't want us console players merged with them either. They made sure we knew they hated us too. It might split the community a little, but its for the best I think.
The regional megaserver will also affect me if they are completely independent.. I have many gaming buddies across the world, many being in US/CA and EU but also in Asia.
Sometimes even when each region has servers, it's possible for an account to dynamically switch to another region (for example in Guild Wars). In this case, it's not an issue we just dynamically choose one of the regional server that could have the average best network latency for everyone in the current group. It's flexible.
If ESO regional megaservers are completely independent, and that an ESO account is strictly tied to a unique mega server. Then it's more of an issue as we either
- chose to play on the same regional server from the start , meaning it's always the same player that will have a comfortable network latency and always the same that may have lag.
- chose to each play on our own local megaserver and we will never be able to meet in game.
Has there been any official info released about if player's accounts are uniquely global to every megaserver on the same hardware plaform, or if the account are tied to an unique megaserver ?
its still 50x (guess for example purpose) larger playerbase than in any server-based mmo. Its a win
Woudent say so normally MMO Players were all on PC. Now we are splitt into 3 PC/PS/XBOX. That means beast for all 1/3 on each, also we are again split between US/EU that means 6 Megaservers. Also i think if the game goes well there will also be 3 in china. That mean overall the playerbase will be splitt overall in 1/9 on each server.
With equivalent of playerbase being split to 150 servers and having generous option to pay for transfer. I dont think we should concern ourselves with the console megaservers at all, we were not supposed to have this playerbase anyway. Thanks divines they are actually separated
I'm a broken clock on this I know but there is a good possibility that the consoles will quickly lose population when a lot of unsuspecting players realize the game doesn't play exactly like skyrim did, less accepting of MMO limitations than traditional MMO players are. If this does happen players may migrate back to PC provided they have a good enough one to run it at the time.
This makes me so happy! I never thought they would actually do this. Although the amount of ebonheart pact skyrim fan boys is defiantly going to increase, i really hope zeimax finds some way to balance the factions.
Wellllllll, now you get to choose still, just far less options. Sorry it will split your group up so much, but I think overall the megaserver is a great idea. I hope they have some sort of plan to assist people like you and your friends to gather and play together.
Yea but you can't do near as many things with a PS4 as you can with a PC. Hence the extra cost goes toward user support systems. Things like Edit videos, create word/excel docs, run multiple things at once (this is the biggest reason IMO). Plus other things.
Nope all it will do is put those console only gamers off MMO's for good.
If TESO was released as PC only, ZOS would of garnered hundreds of thousands of new MMO players into the genre. potentially millions.
There is the option to move on.
This is a big blow to me, but yes it depends on how things go over the next six months. ZOS will need to win me over. Credibility means a lot to me, and ZOS has lost much of that. I am willing to see what they do, but they will be starting from scratch when it comes to if I will buy this game or not. Once more information comes out, then things may change. The idea of developing the games differently would be a huge push in the right direction.
I do feel, however, that the window may be shut because of them pushing the game back 6 months. By then I don't know what will catch my interest. With the game being a year away instead of six months there is no real reason to follow the news outlets very closely. That means that ZOS will lose contact will many of the players that are now disillusioned simply because we will no longer be looking at every little thing that comes out.
This reminds me of when the game was first announced. There was a huge amount of rage when they compared the game to WoW over and over again. Now they were able to bounce back from that when they clarified they game mechanics. Hopefully they can do the same over the next few months to help calm down the PC gamers, but that largely depends on the product itself.
That's what i also fear i dont think the console version will have great sucess, console will not hold that long, and why the need 2 server for ps and xbox is also not whise.
Right know i think XBOX will fail really fast with ESO, after that PS4 will struggle with too less players. And the badest thing that could happen that this players will be placed with us pc gamers.
Now we just sit back and wait to hear what exclusives the Xbox and PS4 players will get.
Open Beta first for one but then again that's only the beginning.
No open beta has been announced, you're thinking of the PS4 getting its console beta before Xbox One.
Your right that's just the opening shot. M$ or PS4 could throw a few million at exclusive zones or dungeons. We just have to wait and see what they get when Zenimax/Bethesda throws pc players under the bus again.
