ESO coming to PC, MAC, PS4 and Xbox One #2

Post » Fri Jun 14, 2013 2:57 am

Valid argument yes. I wouldn't say morons but i will put all my eggs into one basket and say most players in the console market will not accept these setbacks simply because they have never played an MMO before. It is hard enough to see people who are familiar with MMOs not accept MMO limitations let alone people who are unfamiliar with the genre. I am sure they will do their research, read up on all the hype talk, what kind of good stuff is said in game informer but I think when it comes to this kind of stuff they are going to be caught off guard.

Yes you are right their are going to be a lot of PC players that will succumb to this too i just think it is a whole lot larger on the console market.

Quote from the Polygon interview

Sounds like ZOS isn't 'dumbing down' the game mechanics as people think for PC users. It, in fact, looks like they are going to have a different UI and gameplay set up that is specific for PC and specific for consoles.

It isn't $400..it's £414..which is ~$650 american..and at that price it's less than stellar

A lot of staff on MMOs are fired right after launch..my last launch mmo was TOR..where you heard about layoffs almost every week for 6 months after launch starting with the PR team and unnecessary devs

Well, many of us were surprised about the console port over, but it's not as bad as people are making it out to be. If what Paul Sage is true, then PC users need to stop getting their panties in a bunch because they aren't mixing the two UI's and game styles together.

So you're comparing a brand new gaming PC at the same price today? What would that system cost 7 years ago.

You really made a poor comparasion to the point that it is pointless.

They could have presented it better, i mean you don't go and tell your kids you ran over the family dog and say deal with it. You sit them down and explain the issue and how rover isn't going to be around anymore and that he was a good dog, think of all the memories we had with him. It is nice to see some explanation but the news should have came from Paul Sage not the Sony Representative in a nice video and article detailing the effects and impacts it will have on the current game if not at all fine, but be more specific.

I know i ask for a lot but.

I don't know, my parents told me bad news directly like that and said to deal with it..it was pretty effective because you had to learn to deal with it and accept it wasn't going to change..and then find ways to solve the problem. I'm not saying it's the correct way, or the best way, but really the method varies from person to person

I took the news hard. I've been a PC gamer for a very long time. I had several of my posts removed yesterday, rightfully so - lots of venom in my words yesterday towards the console.

Today, as the news sinks in more.. all I really want to hear from Zenimax is how the console effort will not affect my PC gameplay. I've looked around a bit and have not found anything that I would consider an official statement on the topic.

I'm not opposed to the console folks enjoying the game... ultimately I just don't want the PC version being watered down because of it. (MMO's of late are already watered down as it is.. /sigh)

Meh I wouldn't worry too much. TESO was designed to be a PC game and will ultimately remain a PC game. I highly doubt it will be watered down and won't bother you at all. Despite this however, I can't waaaaaiiiit for that sixy beast of a game to come out on PS4!!!!!!

Scroll up a bit. Paul Sage confirmed each version is designed for its platform.

u really cant use a separated CPU and GPU when we know PS4 uses a AMD APU from the jaguar family and they cost around $120, so that total would be more like $320

this is good news, but how much will be left for us to fix with mods is still unknown, i safely say the current UI on PC is not very friendly

No idea. Different devs different game. Can read into it however you want and call devs lairs if you want. Was just relaying the message.

No. The claim was that the PS3 version was getting "extra attention" so that it would be on par with the Xbox 360 version. They never said it would be different or built from the ground up. There is no denying the consoles are getting a port because of how late the decision was to make it for the console and how much development time has already been put into the game.

And as someone else said, different developers (though same publisher, gamesas). Either way, Todd Howard is not a part of it as he is just the EP of the Bethesda Game Studios.

Yeah I read what Sage said. Have to say, like those from Missouri... "Show Me" or in other words, I'll believe it when I see it.

I just about bet you they had plans to announce it differently. I've been reading multiple sites on the ESO coming to console announcement and I'll be nice and say reaction has been mixed. They way it was announced was a svcker punch to most PC fans.

Who knows, maybe they can pull it off. To date, all of the console MMO's have been mediocre at best... the two I've tried being FFXI and the recent DCUO. I played both on the PC and did not play either long. They were just /meh.. fun for a few days, but no real reason to keep playing.

It would be nice if all of the players, regardless of platform, could be on the same mega server or at least have the choice. I have no doubt the next gen consoles have the graphical capability to play the game (cept maybe for really large PVP/AVA battles).

Maybe at account creation they could let those with a keyboard and mouse on a console choose to play with the PC players. Course that just does not make any sense. /facepalm

Here's a question: can you take a character that you created on one megaserver and transfer it to another?

Not quite. You can't buy an 8 core APU, nor is there an APU available from AMD that puts out the power of a 7870. YOU cannot get a jaguar apu. THey are only available in the consoles currently.
