Fallout New Vegas Expansion ideas

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:53 am

what kind of expansions would you like to see?
For me, I'd like one where you go to the capital wasteland and see whats been going on for the past 3 years, such as how clean the water is, and other stuff. but you can import the decisons you made from your fallout 3 play through, but not your character, (2 mute people together staring at each other would be kinda boring, or they get an unnoficial voice actor for the wanderer)
what would you like to see?

Going to CW makes no sense IMO.
It's like 85% of a continent away.
No reason to go there.
Should save that story for fallout 4 instead.

And I'd like http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Dogtown as an expansion.
No big organization that try to destroy the world or anything, just a bunch of scavenge teams at war with each other over the vast amount of resources.
(Not every story has to be of epic proportions, would be nice with something smaller yet still significant.)

And then http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Boulder_Dome.

Agree with the Dogtown one. Just imagine walking in between those skyscraqers..

I'd like to see A DLC with Enclave in it as a Friendly faction, and also a DLC that has more BoS in it.

I personally wouldnt mind something like an old pre-war factory going to production again, kind of like the steel factory in The Pitt, only this plass produces armor and vehichles. Things to start getting the ball rolling for civilization.

i dont like the capital wasteland idea. it just wouldnt make sense for you to be able to get there in a sane amount of time.

i for one would like to see how some of the settlements from the first and second game have developed.

i would love to see any of these places be made into a DLC. New Arroyo,Redding,Vault city, Bakersville or Junktown.

i would also like these weapons to be included

Cattle prod
Gauss pistol
.223 pistol
Needler pistol
Pulse rifle
Solar scorcher
Winchester "city killer" Shotgun

This isn't Fallout 3, it's Fallout: New Vegas, I think the title shows that the whole game and any subsequent DLC will take place in the Mojave Wasteland area. The story for Fallout 3 was completed with the 5 DLC's last year, this is a new story. It is also a new character, and this game takes place 3 years after that of FO3, it would be impossible to import decisions.

I know it's not going to happen, but I'd like an expansion that is separate from the main area and game (import your character if you wish or create a new one) - and which offers a hub based map with the (at least optable) fasttravel similiar to the original games (survival could be a substitute to outdoorsman). Where there is less to explore in one spot, but much and with more diversity when everything is combined. Everything, of course, tweaked to suit the current gameplay.

The newbies to the Fallout series HAVE to stop clinging to Fallout 3.. Believe me you won't care about the capital wasteland once you get a taste of the western climate.

It seems like everyone clings to the first Fallout game they play, even, or especially, our esteemed fellow fans at that other site. But yes, new fans, there is much more to the Fallout universe than what is in FO3 - think outside the box. Go play the originals at least once, or barring that, go to the Vault Wiki and read up on them in detail. You'll find a lot of fun and exciting ideas that make you look at the Fallout universe differently. The Fallout Bible is especially good reading. It has information not given in any Fallout game, but written by Chris Avellone, who has written New Vegas. You might get some insight into how he thinks.

Seems a bit premature to be thinking about expansion ideas since I don't even know what I have yet in New Vegas, but I'll bite. Dogtown seems awesome, and I would love to explore an area of ruined skycraqers. Regardless of the DLC, I want expansions that give me more area to explore, like Point Lookout. I don't want run and gun corridor shooters like Operation Anchorage or Mothership Zeta. I enjoyed the Pitt because it was such a great environment and had a good story and some neat, if constrained, exploration, if only in a limited area.

An interesting idea for DLC are what I would call, Tweak Packs. DLC similar in a way to Broken Steel that didn't add new areas, but modified the ones we already have. Ones that introduce additional quests and NPCs to the main world and environment, made existing quests more elaborate, added new casino games, or added another hotel on the Strip for instance.

I would also like to see radio DLC. Radio DLC could expand song lists on existing stations, possibly add new banter and DJ quips (if they can get the voice actor back in the studio), or even add new radio stations all together.

FO3 was my first Fallout and unlike some of the folks out there I don't particularly want to go back there, its story is complete no need to go back to the Capital Wasteland in my opinion. Looking forward to the Blue Skies and Sunny days in the West. :tops:

(Can't wait to get the Fallout Trilogy and play FO1, FO2.)

You're right. I only just recently beat Fallout 1, and almost everything is different, in a good way. New Vegas is not Fallout 3, some people should learn that.

On topic: As a full expansion, I would love it if we got something that lets us play after the end. Of course, the main part of the expansion would be seeing a huge part of how our character shaped the world. And a crapload of new and different quests depending on your choices.

Of course, there's several flaws with this. First, we don't know if the Courier is going to die. And if he/she does, I would not like another Broken Steel. Second, of course there's a huge probability that the outcomes of your decisions won't happen all at once.

And, no, I am not desperate to play after the end. In fact, I am happy with New Vegas having a definite ending. However, I just think it would be nice to see the world we helped shape.

I imagine the first expansion will focus on expanding the main storyline .
Maybe add in afew more factions into the mix..
Factions who move into the territory in the aftermath of whatever happens in the main plot.

precisely. i came in on fallout 3, but i read up on the first two games and loved what they presented. as such, im thinking of going out and purchasing both to play and experience for myself everything that the original two bring to the table.

as for a DLC/Expansion idea, why not uncover a huge settlement scattered throughout the Grand Canyon?

I had an Idea once when I was playing Fallout 3 and reading sections of the Vault Wiki on deathclaws that it would be cool to have a DLC to have Deathclaws as the main basis of the DLC.

In this idea, it would star the player in travelling to the Grand Canyon who's job was to deliver a package to a Mercenary group housed nearby. When he/she was to arrive, the settlement he was delivering the package to is utterly destroyed. A wounded Survivor then says about a horde of Deathclaws that ravaged the place killing the majority of the settlement. The group that the player was to deliver the package to, was the Gun Runners.

The player would then stumble upon the group of the Gun Runners and another group which are called the Apache Hunters, a small hunting group consisting of survivors from Settlements around the Grand Canyon area that the Deathclaw Horde had destroyed. They were to be under heavy attack by a Mutant Deathclaw Horde which the Player could intervene and join in. The package they were to deliver would house the Gun Runners "Payment" in the form of a Nuclear Bomb and 10,000 Caps (or which ever currency is in New Vegas).

The Player then was given the choice to help the Gun Runners and the Apache Hunters defend their settlements (the gun runners would chip in a certain amount of Caps for your efforts and a few free modifications for whatever weapons you had, the Apache would help by giving you the keys to a Safe House Settlement nearby and access to certain Apache Companions). If the player helped out the Gun Runners and the Apache's he or she would fight off a series of waves of Mutant Deathclaws.

At one point, the Gun Runners and Apache make a move to destroy a nearby nest. In the resulting travel, the player is knocked out and wakes up inside a cave with several Deathclaw. They soon show up as Talking Intelligent Deathclaws and by taking you to see the "Matriarch" she asks you to help them protect their kind. They say the Deathclaws that are attacking the Settlements are "not family" or even related and that they were created by a ghoul Scientist seeking to use them as weapons on bigot human settlements. The player then is taken back to the Gun Runners and Apache's hideout and tells them what they have learned.

The player is then given a Moral choice, to help the Gun Runners and Apache kill off all the Deathclaws including the Intelligent Deathclaws or help the Intelligent Deathclaws to kill the source of the Mutant Attacks. Alternatively, the player can convince the Apaches to allow the Intelligent Deathclaws to protect them and nearby settlements. The Gun Runners just want to kill them all so they get most of the payment they've been offered, a whopping 25,000 cap bonus on completion.

If the player chooses to side with the Deathclaws and attack the Ghoul Scientist it results in Good Karma, but if they side with Gun Runners they will recieve Bad Karma. The Apache Hunter's can be convinced to help the Intelligent Deathclaw's providing an agreement can be made between them so that the Intelligent Deathclaws can protect them from dangers of the Grand Canyon as well as threats such as Raiders and Mercenary bands.

If the player sides with the Deathclaws they go after the Scientist which has set up a lab near the old B.O.M.B. 002 Satellite Crash site. There the player discovers the Scientists lab and soon finds out that he has other alternatives besides using his mutant deathclaws.

The Ghoul Scientist uses a combination of the FEV and Radiation around the Grand Canyon area to mutate the Deathclaws and using a device similar to the Enclave of which they use to control the Deathclaws send them off to destroy Human Settlements. The Deathclaws he is using are unpredictable and even with the control device they often go berserk and kill and destroy anything in their path. As a result, the Scientist, finding a reason to get vengence on bigot humans even more use Humans as test subjects and combine Human DNA with that of the Deathclaw to create a Human-Deathclaw Hybrid that is about twice as strong as a normal deathclaw with the intelligence of an average human while still remaining a human like form but with a deathclaw face and features such as elongated talons and claws. There he creates a task force comprising of Deathclaw Hybrids which he sends to attack the player and the Intelligent Deathclaws.

After the player fights through a wave of Mutant Deathclaws and Deathclaw Hybrids, the player then has to fight a series of expirimental mutant deathclaws which include Cereberus a 3 head Deathclaw that moves on all fours, Hades a Deathclaw that underwent extreme exposure to FEV and Radiation and receiving multiple types of gene experimentation from the Ghoul Scientist that transformed him into a real monster as he is practically the size of a behemoth. And Lazarus, the Commander of the Hybrid Task Force sent against you, a modified Hybrid that is twice as strong and twice as Intelligent.

When the player defeats all three mutant deathclaws, the Ghoul scientist pleads for mercy and in doing so asks that if you spare him he will grant you power you will not believe.

If you side with Deathclaws you gain a very big boost to good Karma and an option to have a special Deathclaw Companion (that can be upgraded with special armour and Deathclaw only weapons!) and to have all Deathclaws in the area ignore you (unless provoked and only in Grand Canyon area, New Vegas Deargclaws are uneffected). If you side with the ghoul scientist, you gain bad Karma and he gives you the ability to become a Hybrid. He transforms you into a modified Hybrid that is extremely strong, resilient to Radiation and attack. As a result of your misdeeds you will forever be stuck with the face of a Deathclaw and appearance of a Deathclaw Hybrid (Claws, Face and Tail included) and all Humans in the Grand Canyon will fire upon you (Humans in New Vegas won't be effected but some will make a comment on how scary your mask is)

It's a big writeup, but that's what I'd like to see even if it is a pipe dream

I had two ideas.

1. A strange radio signal directs you toward Area 51. This will be mostly a puzzle/exploring DLC focused heavily on adventuring and creating a creepy atmosphere; not so much combat. It would be dumb to make it another Mothership Zeta. The base has been overrun by a pack of ghouls, which you will occasionally see as you travel around the area. They might be used for some scares, like say, you open up a large testing chamber or something like that and a ghoul flies out at you. Audio logs scattered around detail a time when the base was inhabited by a gang of raiders. The raiders become more and more distressed as time goes on and you advance through the building, stating weird occurrences that are happening more and more frequently. The final audio log could show the raiders screaming in horror as weird noises and static blare through the tape, indicating they have been abducted. As you leave Area 51, you could see a UFO darting off in the horizon. I loved Dunwich, and more stuff like that would be awesome.

2. Since you're so close to California, why not a DLC that takes place in Hollywood? You could roam through ruined movie backlots, explore famous Hollywood landmarks, like the sign on the hills which is almost completely destroyed. Propaganda films and posters flood the town announcing the evils of China and communism.
