Fear of spiders

Post » Wed Jan 23, 2013 2:15 am

I don't fear spiders in the game or in the real life. In real life I fear dogs because I have got attacked by them a few times when I have been walking on the streets but in Skyrim I feel no fear towards them or other kind of such creatures. But I can still understand your feeling quite well because in Shivering Isles Skinned Hounds were creepy ones.

Shivering Isles Skinned Hounds.

Especially if you played it with heavily modded darker nights.

Those red eyes charging at you... Almost as scary as the zombies.
Seriously, though. [censored] zombies.

When I discovered that a nearby house close to Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad contained zombies I packed my things and RAN back to Bruma.

Is it weird that I love all these messed up creatures yet the centipede monsters are what make me walk away for a few minutes?

I adore spiders in real life. This is actually kind of a drawback for me because so many movies assume I'll be repelled by the merest suggestion of a spider. The minutes in Shelob's lair in LotR, for instance, have absolutely zero tension for me. When I see the spider walking across James Bond's shoulder in Doctor No I think to myself, "Aw, how cute."

Ghosts are what scare me most in games and movies. There was a ghost in a house in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines that still sends chills down my spine even today, just thinking about it.
Yes they are very cute! ;D the only one I hate is the camel spider (OMG!!! WTF IS ZAT?!?!?! D:)

Did someone mention Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines?! That game has the best atmosphere... EVER! I loved that ghost mission. The one about people with a disease is also very chilling. Then there's the fleshcarver guys.

I think ghosts are adorable in a tortured way... I also think vultures are bloody adorkable.

I hate Charaus (Charauses? Charausi?) they sound creeping just walking.

Big spider, ok whatever. Spiders like the little black fuzzy spider of doom (as my sis calls it) and little brown spiders freak me out:
1. The brown one could be either Brown Recluse or could be a Brown Widow. Both be a bad thing and apparently both live in Texas where I am.
2. The Black fuzzy one's eye's glow, that and they click their mandibles a lot its weird.

*I also hate Camel Spiders cause then can run faster than you...*
They can... Crawl... Faster? Than we can run...

THANK GOD I DON'T LIVE IN AFGHANASTAN(or whatever)

I kill every spider I see. Except the Grand Daddy Longlegs. Those are nice guys. I don't kill brown recluses because I heard their venom eats the body. I only kill normal household spiders and am a complete wuss in real life once you get me away from my video games and horror movies and death metal.

That cat needs to be my sidekick in my quest to kill http://advancedtermitecontrol.com/images/Cicada2.jpg
If a bug can be so big it can just grab a cicada and fly off, it needs to go. Or at least burn. Or be chopped up by a machine. Maybe the cat knows how to make Cicada killer ultra death traps...

Yeah. In Daggerfall, you would often see cats as scenery objects. Daggerfall came out during the 90's, but it counts since it was when the lore started getting more elaborate and less, "Kill evil battlemage!". Off topic even more: Arena runs hilariously fast for me... That was the first TES game, and people are always power walking for some insane reason.

I have yet to find a game where the spiders are ACTUALLY scary. Stuff like Shelob and the Frostbite spiders aren't scary because they don't resemble real creepy-crawly spiders. Google Brazilian Wandering Spider and you'll see what would actually scare me in a game.
I don't find the Frostbite spiders scary because they look HARD and RIGID. Scary spiders are spindly and fast with long legs but the Skyrim spiders look like they are armored and tough. Not creepy at all.

But really. Google Brazilian Wandering Spider...

I don't mind your garden-variety spiders IRL; I actually like them and let them live because they take care of the bane of my existence: mosquitos!

Still, I wouldn't want to run into a tarantula or anything of that size or larger IRL, so I guess it's a good thing that giant spiders only exist in the game!

They run in your shadow to stay cool, so yea, they run faster than you. That and they can get really freakin' big. (Yes they are in the Middle East area so you're safe so long as you aren't there)
