Fix the lag please...

Post » Mon Oct 11, 2010 5:41 am

why do ppl feel need to get defensive about the game? it is a lag fest, thats a fact! that doesnt make it a bad game, just a game in need of fixing.
i know the difference between lag and me being plain stupid by now. I know im not a great player, and never will be. At best, ill be average, but ive played enough fps's to know when it's me being bad and plain old lag. Like i said, when u being shot around corners or you are getting hit with a melee by someone facing opposite direction and about 3 ft away, or the kill cam shows u getting shot 7-8 times, whilst u didnt shoot them once, and in reality u have unleashed an entire clip into them and they hit u once, its fair to say this is lag. I havent had these kind of issues on bc2, mw2, halo reach or even kz3, and coincidentally, when its lagging my k/d ration triples, so ppl stop with the defending of game, and telling ppl that it could be their tactics blah blah, as we all know it's not.

@suarez07. We all experience the game differently, not all have as much lag as you might have. It depends on alot of things. Connection, who you play with etc. It's easy to point fingers when things are going bad..

U misreading me, im not saying i have it bad all the time, and I know everyone has different experiences, but this is mainly due to the netcoding. its the coding that crytek implement that should minimise these issues, as can be foud in games like mw2, where theres minimum lag. Its early days no doubt, but the netcoding on this game is horribly off, and the game shouldnt be placing ppl with hosts across other side of world etc.
I dont have amzing connection speed, but i have a solid one and a great ping speed more importantly. I know about the ins and outs of online gaming, and dont expect perfection, and also have said that ppl need to be bit patient about them patching it in past, but it drives me nuts with posters blaming ppl's playing style when clearly its nothing to do with that, and the game in reality has lag issues for a lot of ppl.

im not even that angry about whole thing, as im taking break from it, just playing the sp and got bc2 again to occupy my mp demands. just dont want to hear bs excuses , and ppl defending game, when theres no need. its a good game if they sort out the issues, until then its a bit of a mess online for lots of ppl

Is it just me that have 'a solid 3bar' connection most of the times and an occiasional dip to 2 bars and a few 4bars even when not host?
I hade more lag issues with MW2 then crysis 2 and in mw2 you had even more 'host advantage' imo. I can play Crysis 2 on 2 bars, mw2 on 2 bars was just to drop the game and hope for another one, ie totally unplayable...
The only times i have 1 red bar is when everyone but the host are having 1-2 bars or when i think i get matched up with people far far away (everyone else in game is at 3-4 bars except me with 1bar)

@suarez07

Since I know nothing about netcoding I'm staying out of that discussion. I didn't mean that it's not lag. I'm just saying it might be more too it than just lag. Neither of us have played with the poster so we really don't know. Probably is lag but not every time..
I miss BC2 a bit now when you mentioned it. Haven't played it since C2 came out.

[quote="MECHAGODPHILLA"]Hey guys, wondered if you could put my mind at rest. I've been putting it down to LAG or Matchmaking (anything but my poor game playing skills).

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. Why (and if) good Crysis 2 games are so hard to come by. I really like the game, but I feel I'm at a disadvantage online. Official details would be nice, but I've poked around and get the impression they are not to be found here; and therefore anywhere. Hungry my mind remains...

If you feel like you're a good player and you're not doing well then it's probably your connection.

Might be true. But still you need to keep trying different tactics and so forth if you feel you could have done better. Not just say "well I shot him first this MUST be lag". There's always room for improvement. There's not one way to approach every situation. Often when I find myself killed wrongfully I find out there was more than one person shooting at me.

Well, that's why I said "if you feel like you're a good player". Now I know there are plenty of people who just instantly blame their not doing well on anything other than them "svcking" but I've played enough games over the years to know when something isn't "right".

I really don't like to bring up stats but if you look at the stats I quoted in my original post when having a good connection versus a bad one I think you'll agree those numbers differ drastically. In a lot of cases it's the same room with the same people just another host. So four straight matches I'll have a good connection and get MVP every round. Then I'll have a match with a terrible connection and look like a completely different player.

I can't speak for everyone but I know that a lot of times when I'm not performing up to my personal "par" it's not because I'm playing with superior players, it's because my connection went down the crapper.

The only way this lag is going to stop is if they 1. Use Servers or 2. You get a less **** internet connection, or stop watching youtube and netflix while you're gaming. That's the only ways it's going to get fixed. A patch isn't going to fix your internet connection, and it never will.

Zipper took a stance on this a loooooooong time ago, and it's the same case here. It's nobody fault but your own.

I'm not saying it's right, or justified. It's just the way things are right now.

Try doing a ping test on google.com, and watch as it pings away. And then watch for about 5 -10 sec how you just stop pinging for no reason and then it picks back up again. That's why there is LAG, dont believe me TRY IT!

It's your ISP guys, not the network code.

I opened up all the ports I possibly could for this game, and it runs perfectly, once in awhile I'll get dropped, but thats only because COX is a piece of **** when it comes to internet service.

You Burger King ("Gotta have it my way" "customer is always right") kids need stop with all the finger pointing and actually do some research on your own. You might actually learn something.

Says the guy who lives in Portugal. With the **** internet of them all. What's your max speed??? Like 30MBs??? If you even have that plan on fiber which is laughable at best, it's never that consistent. And if you're gonna sit here and say every game you have plays perfectly, you're full of ****, and you're a liar.

I like how all you PS3 wizards out there just sit around and bich instead of trying to figure out the problem.

Don't be surprised if this never gets "fixed".

problem is definitely my ISP, which provides me with a nice and working connection for all my online games but crysis 2.
I guess someone is totalylmissing the point.

Also, to the OP: we are in the same boat. Its called hit detection, and it svcks bad.

Thanks for all the posts guys. Seems like it's probably a mixture of my poor game play and lag :-)

The game's only been out a few weeks ~ so just going to sit tight for any patches/fixes. In the meantime, just have to deal with it. ...it's a good game, but it'll be a great game when we get a level/consistant playing field.

Does anyone know if it's just PS3 suffering with the lag/matchmaking issues?

Actually we have ISP's providing up to 1GBPS speeds in Portugal so don't make a fool of yourself... Next time use google.
