really??? bc2 is about the most perfect example of shooting mechanics in a game ive ever come accross, hit detection was awesome, and there was no lag due to dedicated servers.

Ea also didnt design the game, dice did, and crytek made crysis 2, not ea. Ea are just publishers, so ur logic is faulty im afraid.

@op ill read article, as tis kinda thing interests me far more than the endless whining on the forums. thanks

The best fix for lag is to simply stop being cheap and make dedicated servers... Problem solved.

Kind of like what the guys from Zipper did with Socom 4, it pretty awesome how every single bullet counts.

Are there any downsides to dedicated servers? There must be a reason why all these developers aren't using them. I really hope it's not them just trying to find the cheapest way to provide online play.

Its annoying. Like how I can empty a full clip into someone's back, only for him to turn around and kill me. Then the killcam shows not only did I not hit him, but I magically died before any bullets flew from his gun.

It just makes this game so unique. In every other FPS you have to actually aim and shoot the target. Here this is random.
But seriously. I love the killcam when I got shot in the head. It shows like I am far away and the very last moment the bullet arrives my character is jumping to it just to get headshot... Brilliant.
Or maybe the lag is so huge the killcams are 5-10 minutes old... that would explain a lot :)

Atleast others are having the same issues my top frustration is like you guys said putting a full entire mag into someguys back and kills in one shot killzone 3 has the same problem.

So crytek any sign of det servers or lag patch?

Another one: take out the laser sight. It's also unneeded extra information needing to be transferred (where is it pointing for rendering?)

Hey guys, wondered if you could put my mind at rest. I've been putting it down to LAG or Matchmaking (anything but my poor game playing skills).

Anyway, about eight out of ten games - I'm middle to bottom of the board. I've noticed from watching the Killcam(s) that I seem to be a second or so out. ...on my sceen it looks like I'm on target - but on the Killcam, I'm shooting to the left or right of the other guy (missing them completely).

Also, when I kill someone - seems to take a lot more bullets to do the job, than when I'm being shot (regardless or amour etc.)

However, every now and then - I turn Super-Rambo and completely kick arse?!?!?

Overall love the game!

[*] Looking off target on the Killcams - am I second behind? Is that a Lag issue?
[*] Taking what seems like "more" bullets to get a kill than others - Is that a Lag issue?

Impossible to say if your bad or not since I haven't played with you. Don't relay on the killcam to give you an accurate version of what happend. The times you have been a beast have you also been the host of the game? If so then it's probably lag. When I'm host it seems I have a much easier time..

Not sure, I'm only a casual gamer - I don't take much notice of who's hosting (don't know how to tell). Usually, I've got between one and three bars.

I'm an average player (at best), but my performance just seems a little too random.

And I don't seem to get much (if any) indication that I'm being shot at - before I can get to cover, I'm dead - every gun seems to kill me like a sniper would in games like CoD. ...maybe, this is just how this game plays?!

When you enter a game directly press select to see the scoreboard. If you're the first one there you're host. Also often the host is the only one with a 4 bar connection. Sometimes it's like you get blown up when infact the enemie was shooting at you. this happens to me quite alot and I would call that lag. Are you using armor when you're being shot at? If you feel you're being killed to fast that might be it.

Chances are it's lag, as game has serious lag isssues. As for kill cam, it's not totally reliable , but tends to be more accurate when there's no lag, and I'm guessing when there's lag, it falls to pieces , and what's happening on screen and kill cam are off, just like like what's happening on ur screen isn't same as whats going on in other ppls screen.
Short version, lag is killing this game.

Thanks - I'll check to see if I'm hosting.

Yeah, it's a bit like getting blown up out of the blue - I'll assume that's the lag then :-) I'm using my Armour (when I know I'm being shot at) ~ doesn't seem to do much (I guess that's because I've already taken hits due to the lag).

Massive shame - hope they can fix it. I love everything about this game - except the lag :-)

yup, lag's a fecker. Ive been shot around corners, ive been meleed by someone behind me facing other direction, and killed by someone shooting and not hitting me once.

i actually prefer the mp to the sp as i think the sp is shoddy for large portions of game, but if only theyd fix the lag.

Don't give up yet. Sometimes I can play several hours without the lag being TOO much. If it's too much I just take a break and relax and take deep breaths. PS3 controlls are expensive.....
If your doubting your ability try different approaches. Change gun, perk, tactic and so forth. We play different so keep trying and see what fits you. Even if it lags like hell for me sometimes I might still be able to plow well. So I think it's not just the lag holding you back. Keep playing and you'll be rewarded :)

The difference in my performance when I have a good connection as opposed to a bad one is like night and day.

Good connection = 3.5-4.0 KDR

Bad connection = 1.0-1.75

If you feel like you're a good player and you're not doing well then it's probably your connection.

Might be true. But still you need to keep trying different tactics and so forth if you feel you could have done better. Not just say "well I shot him first this MUST be lag". There's always room for improvement. There's not one way to approach every situation. Often when I find myself killed wrongfully I find out there was more than one person shooting at me.

FYI, if you start getting shot, bringing up your armor might help, but in most cases, it won't. Having it up prior to engagement makes the best use of it.
