phenom II X4 940 and a hd5870, both overclocked lots :) they're the important parts.

Don't these two produce intense heat ?

Unless he has an Antec case, it could be possible.
Plus AMD processors are generally pretty cool.

i7 920 OC @ 3.66ghz
Coolermaster V10 heatsink
EVGA x58 mobo
12GB DDR3 @ 1600mhz
GTX 295 (minor OC)
2x 40gb OCZ SSD in RAID 0 (500mb/s+ read...)
1.5tb + 500gb HDD
Creative Sound Card (its like a mind-range, $60 card - does the job).
Antec 1200 case

However, just before (literally days before) C2 comes out, I will be building a new rig with the following:
i7 930
6gb DDR3 @ 2300mhz
EVGA x58 SLI3
GTX 580
2x 40gb SSDs RAID 0 (same as before)
2x 500gb HDD RAID 0
Corsair 800d

This will be my 3rd Core i7 build, and fourth if you count my laptop. So total of 32 cores, 28gb Ram, 4tb HDD, and 4 high-end GPU's (GTX 295, GTX 260, GTX 460m, GTX 580) etc. in my computer room.... the ambient temp will be real nice :/

2 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda
Liteon DVD Multi Writer
Coolermaster UCP 1100W

Windows 7 Pro x64
AMD Phenom X4 940 BE (stock heatsync & fan)
4x1GB 900Mhz / 4-4-4-12 timings (mixed brands)
EVGA GTX 460 1GB (OC'd when necessary)
Asrock A790GXH/128M mobo (not SLI capable... f**k!)
Antec 520W psu
Mouse & Keyboard & Speakers, I had before I knew sh** about PC building.

Nice medium-end machine, totaled around $800, more or less.
Gonna get a better cooler for the CPU, then my ~first~ PC build will be COMPLETE! I've been changing out parts for awhile and decided to stop here and build a better one in the future. I expect Crysis 2 to run 45-50fps average, at least on High, 2xAA, 1280x1024. I hope it won't dip into the 20s often in big battles. CryEngine 2 is poorly optimized, imo. But Crysis is EPIC!

Using a Intel processor, combined with an Amd Gpu is very bold. Even with the AMD vision feature available when coupled with Amd to Amd. :|

So... You can't use Intel Xeons with two 5970s?

Plus, why would you use those horrible Intel Gpus.

Any combination of Intel to Any other gpu is fine, except the one's that are integrated.
And Xeon with two 5970 is not bad, its cool.

this is why you should custom build you computer, cut the price by 1/4.

You can't get Alienware components. But either way, it will take extensive research to find the components of your computer as well as building it.

I agree, if I actually spent the time researching and buying my rig piece by piece I would have saved, but I'm lazy and I wanted something built for me, so I just went into the Alienware website and maxed everything out that I could.

That included stuff like after service & insurance too. The insurance alone was about $750 for 4 years full cover. Plus I bought a monitor for about $500, so it does add up, the rig itself probably cost about €4k with about €2k spent on extras and insurance and delivery.

But I am happy that I did get it, and I don't regret spending that much on it.

Intel Core Two Duo E6750 @ 3.4Ghz (Overclocked from 2.66Ghz)
Nvidia GeForce GTX285
4GB DDR2 RAM @ 1600Mhz

Right there with you talon.

Intel core 2 duo e 6850 @ 3.00 Ghz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 465 (recently upgraded from 8800 gtx)
4 Gb ddr2 ram @ 667 :(
Vista 32

I plan to up my ram and go to win 7 this winter. I'm also looking to upgrade the chipset and go to an i7 too (maybe not the 900 series though as I'm too poor)...if i can find the cash and if the new set will fit my chasis.

But this setup has been good for 3 years of Crysis 1 mp and Wars. I have played it mostly low-med settings because of my competitive nature, but it will run high settings just fine now that I've upgraded the gpu.

About your Gtx 285

If you could...

You might want to save up for Gtx 580, definitely worth the cash. Better than a Gtx 480 and 1/4 cheaper than it. It was definite good deal. :)
