Freaking steampunk glove

Neither one is out of date (and I wouldn't mind if there were both ~its the fact that you don't see the old one at all that annoys).

Which seems more in keeping with the Fallout setting to you... A hand held indestructible anolog unit, or a digital wrist mounted unit with LED screen?

Indeed, not as an accusation, but I kind of worry Bethesda might be trying to push the 2000 out of the picture since it would be less noticable to most as opposed to Bethesda officially going 'NOPE, NEVER EXISTED'.

Could have been a cracked one as debris in a vault.

Van Buren used a wrist mounted one ~and in fact the FO1 manual describes it as wrist mounted (page 60 IIRC), but that's not what you see in the game; (the Pip screen looks to be about 7 or 8" diagonal... Howz'at mounted on your wrist?)

Well the way I can think of it being is the blocky part being mounted on the armband, imagine a dike Tracy-esque thing.

I would love it if there was a pro caliber user mod that replaced the cuff entirely with a 3d object that looked a bit more like this.... http://nanoboy007.blogspot.com/2008/11/si-el-pip-boy-2000-fuera-real.html

*and had the pipboy screensaver ~that was shameful IMO that the pip in FO3 had no screensaver (proves who played the game and who didn't :nono:)

**For those that didn't play... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOBcgwtnsZg

A guy in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1138205-wip-pip-boy-2500/ section is trying that very thing. He has the model done but is having trouble making it usable like the readius.

I would love the return of an unseen handheld kinda think or even one that clips to ur waist would be cool . . I just hate how when I wear my Chinese stealth armor or something made to be symmetrical it clips the whole left arm almost and u lose the ambience of the outfit or costume or whatever . . Especially powered armors

I have... but it seems like you'd be wearing a wrist PDA about the same size as a 700 page trade paperback novel. :bolt:
(I'm looking at one atm)

Hey wait I got an idea again . . Ok u kno how some football players wear a play card under the sleeve of the long sleeved shorts during a football game to keep track of plays and movements? Ok take that and make it a pipboy . . Under the sleeve and slightly thinner and when I view it the sleeve like rolls up while viewing and then smooths out when u drop it

In summary:

We Xbox users are jealous of the PC users' mods.
And most of us think the Pip Boy design as-is is actually pretty cool.

This is slightly off topic (sorry, OP) but the thing that bugs me about Pip-Boys is that they are so rarely seen on NPCs... You'd think, with the intel and combat assist they provide, that the NCR would pay top dollar for all those unused gadgets. Plus, ever notice how you never find them as loot?

I realize the Pip-Boy is just a game convention -- a justification for your interface (and wasn't the Courier's use of one contrived?) -- but they are also tangible objects in the game. I wouldn't mind seeing a future Fallout quest concerning a broken one -- ever notice they never malfunction?

On topic -- It would be nice to have some variation or customization for Pip-Boys, I agree, but I like the basic design as it is. It's a core Fallout icon and one of the few I hope is never discontinued.

A note pad doesn't really fit the retro-future design of the series, though. Unless it's bulky and the screen is monochrome. It sounds like you're looking for something modern and slick-looking, but that's not really Falloutish. I wouldn't care if they put an option for something like this in, but I wouldn't use it.

I use the readius mod simply because it's not constantly visible in the PC's arm, especially bothersome with Radiation Suits and Power Armors (Not to mention the Space Suit in Mothership Zeta). What i would like a mod for is one those holographic Omni-Tools From Mass Effect.

Ok I'm sick of this pop boy thing on my arm . . Seriously Bethesda look at the pip boy Readius mod and how many people have it and tell me they wouldnt prefer if THAT was standard? I want a quest or patch or something that allows you to remove it entirely or atleast make a smaller, less noticeable version like the pip boy 5000 that's like watch sized or something . . I want to wear a regular outfit like and NpC without going buy the computer version since i play on a 360. Come on give us 360 users something we want or once, that goes for you too obsidian.

Use the Pimp-boy 3000 with disco music then.

First of all pimp boy is just as cumbersome and second its just gaudy as all hell . . I mean really it's and the disco music only plays when u put it ok and only when u have the wild wasteland trait

I like it as is, but I never play in 3rd person and I suppose, it could cease making sense when you can see it while wearing PA or a spacesuit, etc. And it's gotta be ugly when wearing the prosttute outfit.

I would not mind something smaller, or even something removeable that's placed in a backpack. I do like the look of it though, and would strongly disagree with a color screen. Hell, in FO3 you played a text adventure in one office building. TEXT, as in clearly, they didn't have their graphics up to our standard. :celebration:

Considering you guys get the DLC exclusive for a few months, I fail to see how 360 owners are being neglected.

As for the Pip-Boy itself, yeah, it's big and bulky, but so was a lot of technology in the pre-War, 1950s-esque world that the Fallout Universe sits in.

Ithe 50's is merely their current societal state one what popular kinda thing just like hippies were . . The tech is far advanced enough it's merely peoples thinking that makes the 50's vibe and music having returned . . Heck old hairband style rock has come back today so who's to say that the 50-esque theme didn't merely "return to fame"

After misreading the title I'm tempted to go to the DLC thread and suggest a....

Stimpack Glove
Lots of syringes tied to your fist with bandages, you can heal others with it, or if you use power attacks over heal them causing serious tissue damage.
You could also have the ability to change the drug for different effects.
