Freaking steampunk glove : Fallout: New Vegas

Ok I'm sick of this pop boy thing on my arm . . Seriously Bethesda look at the pip boy Readius mod and how many people have it and tell me they wouldnt prefer if THAT was standard? I want a quest or patch or something that allows you to remove it entirely or atleast make a smaller, less noticeable version like the pip boy 5000 that's like watch sized or something . . I want to wear a regular outfit like and NpC without going buy the computer version since i play on a 360. Come on give us 360 users something we want or once, that goes for you too obsidian.

Why would I want a steampunk glove?

The Pip-boy 3000 is fine to me, apart from removing certian parts of left arm armor, it's a very Fallout feeling device. I don't care for an iPhone pipboy that the readius mod adds.

Dude I'm calling the pip boy a steam punk glove . . I hate the bloody thing especially since there are no personaliztions for it aside from the pimp boy which is not my style at all . . Ok a compromise, let players choose!!! In game choice of pip boy or PDA

The Pipboy 3000 is a perfect throwback to the 1950s optimism of future technology, advanced, yet bulky. Besides, you're hardly going to look at it in game unless you spend most of your play time standing still. If personalization is the most of your problems with this game, then be very grateful.

Edit-To add onto D-11, The Pipboy falls under the category of 'Retro-Futurism'

Hey don't get me wrong I love the game and I've played every fallout ever made but the pip just gets me is all . . A choice would be nice considering technology is noe far more advanced by new Vegas time or atleast let us put a sticker on it to personalize is all lol I play in 3rd person until I'm in combat but I also don't like having one fingerles glove and the other fingered or not one at all

I'm a mod user and I really don't like the Readius mod. And I like the pip-boy glove.

Wow -_- I'm screwed . . It seems mod users have everything figured out but what I'm saying is give the player a choice ya kno . . Like kinda like getting the pimp boy 3 billion but with PDA type thing like a readies or something

By definition, the Pipboy IS a PDA, it's a personal information system and it organizes everything for you. Sounds like a PDA to me. :spotted owl:

i was hoping in FO4 they will have a Pip-Pad with lots of great apps, and a built in tip calculator

Heck I'd like no form of techno thing personally I'd like a back pack and when u use pop button it pulls off the pack and open pockets and such for items but that's too complicated so I went with the easier one

I understand what you're saying, but I'm fond of the Pipboy 3000, I'm finicky about new technology being added. I'm not against new inovations, but I'm very defensive of following the atmosphere the game tries to give off, and I can't see a hand held PDA looking Retro-Futuristic.

If it's done properly, I'd be willing to accept it, I mean, when you're at your 10th Birthday in Vault 101, he berates you for having the 3000-A model, so that WOULD imply there are other models of the pipboy, but I personally would be annoyed at something going from clunky 50s technology to modern hand held iPhone, thats simply nonsense in my mind. Maybe an alternate pipboy would be a little smaller than the Pipboy 3000, a more clear screen and maybe it has some sort of cosmetic feature that the PB300-A model doesnt, but it's a very iffy line.

All I'm saying it's been over a hundred years (maybe more) since the great nuclear war and none advanced in any tech. Now that's iffy to me But I get where u come from specially if u played ALL the fallout games an got attached to ur pip boy (no pun intended)

Actually the Fallout and Fallout 2 Pipby is different than the one from Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.

That said, The game indicates there IS GPS technology. But about your tech advancement, you have to consider only two people have the capablities to reproduce technology on any level, the Enclave, and the Brotherhood of Steel. I suppose you could ad Mr. House into that group too, seeing as he founded Robco and all.

True, but knowing how to read is one thing, learning how to get 200 year old nuclear powered cars fully functioning is a completely other ballpark.

Ok I'm picking a side. If I had to absolutely choose martyr or gizmos idea . . I'd definitely go with martyr . . The pipboy 2000 model is way too out of date to keep up with even the 3000 arm mount unit obviously

Also, when you mentioned the screensaver, it reminded me, one thing I did like about the Pipboy 2000 were some of its useless but friendly gimmicks, the screensaver, and the holiday reminders. :vaultboy:

@Mik- It IS outdated, but it does feel alot more friendlier in terms of its functions.

Better IMO to have the choice be "use what you've got", and maybe upgrade later if you find a better one.

Neither one is out of date (and I wouldn't mind if there were both ~its the fact that you don't see the old one at all that annoys).

Which seems more in keeping with the Fallout setting to you... A hand held indestructible anolog unit, or a digital wrist mounted unit with LED screen?
(or does the CRT extend into the forearm?)
