i believe so... from the look of it theyre really not wanting to punish you for picking the "wrong" race.

This changes everything! Srs.

Nord gets +5 in Speech? Really? They were never very personable in the prior games. In fact they were the opposit.

My guess would be that since we are in the land of the Nords, they have some advantage in investing in shops and negotiating.

Bretons and Altmer are still a cut above the other races, it seems. :sadvaultboy:

That might also explain why the Imperials don't have a speech bonus. Most people hate them in Skyrim.
This. I had the exact same reaction when I saw these in-game... and then I figured out what LeBurns said, above. In Skyrim, Nords are the norm and their social standards are THE social standards. I thought this was a cool design choice.

I do NOT understand the Redguard poison resistance, however. Unless my memory is failing me, they never had such a resistance before.

This is awesome information I was waiting for this!

I am even more excited to play my first ever pure mage Altmer as my first character. Having a bonus in all mage skills and being altmer plus being under the Mage birthsign should level me up very quickly... Hello end game!

No birthsigns, I'm afraid.

Does Berserker Rage effect spell damage? I really want to make an Orc Caster.

I think he means gaurdian stone.

I was referring to the standing stones that make you level the respective skills faster, amiright?

That 50 magicka isn't as good as the bretons 25 resist imo. At level 50 anyone can have 600 magicka, Altmer can have 650. But mixing a Breton with Alteration perks and you are pretty hard to kill... 55% resist magicka passive, 30% absorb passive, +50% absorb power and alteration armor for when you need it... It is hard for a flat bonus to compete with a percentage, especially when that is a resistance against about half the attacks in the game...

Edit: Also wanted to add that I think these races are amazing! Very well balanced so that each race has a unique advantage.

Quite tempted to do that myself if Berserker Rage does, in fact, double all damage.

The Destruction bonus for Redguards is what really surprised me. I guess the Redguards are slowly starting to embrace the awesomeness of magic.

Beserker rage > *

Especially if it's confirmed to work for ALL damage.

Well i'm interested to see what kind of an impact +50 magicka will have. Pretty small buff compared to past games, but I will wait to judge it until I know what spells cost, etc in the game. And i suppose with no spell making I won't be able to have massive spells that cost over a thousand magicka anymore. Dissapointed bretons lost their magicka bonus too.

Adrenaline rush got the nerf-bat. There goes the whole redgaurd being the most naturally talented warrior in tamriel.

I like the Woodelves power if it is as stated. It was a pretty low level spell in oblivion so it will be cool if it's something you can use the entire game now. Makes my ranger woodelf much more viable if so.

Orcs look pretty good. Berzerker got a buff. Enchanting and smithing bonus too. I wanted to make a craftsman who specializes in both so might just make an orc for that.

I thought it was part of Redguard lore that they hated magic?

Imperial looks like it would make a perfect Paladin/Knight character, I'll keep that in mind. ;)

Perhaps it is mentioned in game. Like others have said 200 years has passed and a lot of big events have happened, we'll find out about them and how they've affected the races in game I suppose.

Berserker Rage is basically an 'I Win' button for boss fights.

Really hope it applies to all damage as well.

Things change apparently. Also it seems Night Eye has a cool down, that is a shame. Well at least I can still make "My vision is augmented" jokes.

8 points per second of fire damage.

BOOO for non-scaling bonuses.

Edit: On second though, maybe scaling isn't an issue under this system.

Exactly. "Here dragon dragon dragon... I wanna play."

Beserker rage... storm call dragon shout... unload destruction carnage upon the dragon.

Awesome :)

But Orcs do seem to have the least bonuses (apart from +skill)

Yeah, I was hoping they would keep their magic resistance passive from previous games but oh well. They don't exactly get the skill bonuses for a mage role either but that's a fairly mute point with the way the skill system works.

Five games now and racial skill bonuses are still just a minor head start instead of an actual bonus to that skill.

Argonians no longer get poison resistance, but Redguards and Bosmer do? I know Argonians are the only race with three bonuses, but that doesn't seem right.

This might not be true. A 10x increase of the regen of stamina could help a lot if stamina factors into effectiveness of your actions. For example, if at half stamina you do half damage, or if at half stamina you only block half damage, or if at half stamina you get staggered twice as much, etc. then this regen could actually be very useful, especially with the perks that make stamina using power attacks more important. Stamina usually already has a faster base regen than the other 2 "attributes" so a 10x multiplier on that could be huge. And it really would make redguards more talented than orcs since the finesse aspect of combat (blocking, endurance, special attacks) are where redguards would be more powerful.

And in response to someone else's question: Yes, redguards do traditionally have a resistance to poison.
