But it's 5 free levels of increased Magicka. 5 levels that I can spend on Health or Stamina instead and become even more powerful. [censored], no wonder we're called High Elves.

Yeah, I think I'll go for that too

This isn't an MMO. Feared enemies aren't going to aggro something on the other side of the room. If you're in the same room and fighting, they're already aggroed.

Hey don't blame me when you get the whole dungeon agro'd on you.

I was originally planning to go Nord on my first playthrough, just seemed appropriate. But the Imperial stats are really more in line with the build I was planning.... le sigh.

Nord gets +5 in Speech? Really? They were never very personable in the prior games. In fact they were the opposit.

Don't forget they are a trading race, they are pretty much found in every port to trade. So a +speech isn't that odd.

So all perks, no minuses this time? No racial weaknesses or limitations, just perks? If so, that some of these perks seem a little so-so would be ok.

Night Eye just does not seem to compare with most of those other powers. No problem for me, I suppose, since I wasn't planning on being a Khajiit anyway. Still, too bad for the kitties.

I'm curious about the Apprentice & Atronach standing stones, perhaps they will give you extra magicka with a weakness like oblivion.

I think orcs only get the one, because it's very powerful.

Can't wait. They've done a great job on the racials this time around.
Still going to be a Breton, because thats my favourite race but theres advantages to most of them this time.

I am interested in the Imperial ability to find more gold. Even if its just a little more for every chest/body you loot, that could add up to a whole lot of money in the end.

hmm, was set on an orc, but it seems their stuff is a crap shoot. block, and 1 and 2 handed. i would have preferred block and 1 and something else, or just 2 handed and 2 others. kinds svcks that while it's giving you choices if you want to bash, or play defensive you'll be ok, but it would have been nice to see them pick a side.

True, but as you progress that 50 points gets comparatively smaller, and when you add enchantments it declines even further

No doubt it's a good bonus though.

I'm trying to weigh up which is better - 25% magic resistance or 50 magicka points

Difficult

It all depends.

The extra magicka from an Altmer is always useful regardless of what type of enemy attack while the Breton's bonus only works versus enemy spellcasters. Now assuming enchanting is powerful enough that you can add enough magicka to your liking and that you can become immune to magic regardless of race, one should look at the start/middle of the game.

At the very start of the game the magicka bonus will be better assuming you fight mostly bandits and wildlife and then starts becoming less and less significant each time you level. The magic resistance will be the better choice in the middle levels where you have sufficient magicka to kill things and not enough gear to become immune to spells.

breton does seem like a good class now, especially on harder difficulties.

I think they should still have their passive magicka resistance from previous games but Bethesda obviously felt different :(

That Claws ability looks fun, but I wonder how it works -- do you have go weaponless, or is it a bonus to weapon? Since the Hand-to-Hand skill went away, maybe it's meant to be paired with the Fists of Steel ability in Heavy armor that turns gauntlets into weapons? That'd be cool -- a heavy armored man-tiger laying the clawdown on anyone who gets in his way.

Beautiful, thanks OP

Something I was reminded of recently has made me think that these bonuses are going to end up meaning quite a bit more than many people seem to be thinking. Especially the +10's, which are a different skill for each race.

Todd has said that the higher your skill level is, the more it will contribute to leveling up. So races that start with +10 in X skill can level up a bit faster if they concentrate on that skill early, and thereby obtain higher level perks for it sooner. This seems to be the perfect touch added on to the dynamics of the new skill system to give race/character differentiation just a bit more of an edge and push it into "no two characters will be alike" territory.
