And in response to someone else's question: Yes, redguards do traditionally have a resistance to poison.
Well, Argonians traditionally have immunity to poison. That's kind of a big deal if they no longer have any resistance to it what-so-ever.

Will the Dunmer Fire Shroud be affected by Destruction Fire Perks?

It damn well better be.

Why do Redguards get bonuses in magic? I thought they disliked magic?

Anyway, seems like my Nordic Battlemage won't get a lot of bonuses in his favour, but that won't matter much I guess.

They could have had some sort of magical revolution or tolerance movement in the past 200 years.

This might not be true. A 10x increase of the regen of stamina could help a lot if stamina factors into effectiveness of your actions. For example, if at half stamina you do half damage, or if at half stamina you only block half damage, or if at half stamina you get staggered twice as much, etc. then this regen could actually be very useful, especially with the perks that make stamina using power attacks more important. Stamina usually already has a faster base regen than the other 2 "attributes" so a 10x multiplier on that could be huge. And it really would make redguards more talented than orcs since the finesse aspect of combat (blocking, endurance, special attacks) are where redguards would be more powerful.

And in response to someone else's question: Yes, redguards do traditionally have a resistance to poison.

Not to mention if you pair a Redguard with Light Armor's 50% increase to stamina regen. Endless attacks I bet.

It's going to be hard for me to pick between an Orc, Redguard, and a Nord. The Nord's just have too nice of face tatoos imo. If Orcs or Redguards get anything similar, I may be happy. But being Scottish, the Nord face paint just spurs something inside of me. :)

It's nice to finally say all three don't look like babies anymore like they did in Oblivion. That was one of the biggest reasons I didn't pick any of them. Mainly stuck to Imperials.

Indeed, now Redguards are looking to be a better choice for battlemages statistically. Dunmer stats look more suited for Nightblades.

This is just speculation on my part, but its bothering me. The Argonian health regen power is more likely called Histkin, not skin, as they have some sort of relationship with the Hist (Sentient trees) not barkskin... Any thoughts?

No it doesn't matter : ) I just always get curious about stupid details, possibly why I love these games so much.

Wow, for an offensive mage 50% extra magicka at the start of the game is a very serious bonus. Altmer here we go. I wonder what the Nords will say...

This boni are quiet weak acutally. I have seen lvl 10 chars wearing items (with novice .. and apprentice in the name) that gave +50% resistance to cold, fire etc. and +50 to attributes ... it seems that equippment will be far more important than racials or your choice conserning the distribution of attribute points.

True, but as you progress that 50 points gets comparatively smaller, and when you add enchantments it declines even further

No doubt it's a good bonus though.

I'm trying to weigh up which is better - 25% magic resistance or 50 magicka points

Difficult

Just what I was waiting for

Imperial

+10 Restoration, +5 Destruction, Enchanting, Heavy Armor, Block, One-Handed

Voice of the Emperor : Calms nearby people for 60 seconds.

Imperial Luck : Anywhere gold coins might be found, Imperials always seem to find a few more.

This actually fits the character I'm building so far, except for block, I don't use shields. But it should still be enjoyable. Thoguh no speech bonus is not really surprising, we are in Skyrim, no one likes my kind here. :tes:

No it isn't.

Nords also probably have the worst bonuses. 30s AE fear? Say hello to mob trains.

This isn't an MMO. Feared enemies aren't going to aggro something on the other side of the room. If you're in the same room and fighting, they're already aggroed.

Nord gets +5 in Speech? Really? They were never very personable in the prior games. In fact they were the opposit.
They have a power called the Voice.

Get it?

But it's 5 free levels of increased Magicka. 5 levels that I can spend on Health or Stamina instead and become even more powerful. [censored], no wonder we're called High Elves.

Here's how I see it depending on what appeals the most to you.

Escape Artist:
Argonian (run and heal, run and swim, you name it)

Treasure Hunter thief:
Imperial (pair their racial with the money and treasure earning perk...pure riches; plus if you get caught! just everyone calm down now...)

Boxer:
Khajit (wonder if their claw attack bonus stacks with heavy armor gauntlet perk)

Pure Offensive Mage:
Altmer (maybe, just maybe an Orc if their racial applies to spells)

Pure Defensive Mage:
Breton

The Oh-Crap-There's-Too-Many Class:
Nord (use his fear shout with the Sneak vanish perk to hide and reorganize)

2H-Warrior/Heavy Armor Warrior
Orc (Bag 'em and tag 'em)

Dual wield/Light Armor Warrior
Redguard (Endless supply of stamina anyone?: Pair their racial with the light armor stamina perk)

Archer Theif:
Bosmer (what better use of an animal companion that to allow you to shoot arrow after arrow?)

The I-still-feel-no-fire-while-a-vampire class:
Dunmer (not really sure what else would apply just looking at his racial abilities and not his skills)

EDIT: Orcs might be the best Assassin as well though it'd just be for one hit for one kill a day with two dagger power attack to the back. That's a lot of damage up front.
