Glitched Quests You Have Found - List Here -

Oy, another quest glitch.

The Throat of the World
Talk to Arngeir
High Hrothgar

I've talked to Arngier, done all the dialog options, tried it at different times of day and night, but he never allows me to continue and the quest never updates. I cannot continue the main quest until this is fixed.

Unable to complete 'Under New Management'.

Earlier in the game I got rid of my thieves armor for Linwe's armor and then Nightingale armor. Tonilia will not give me the Guild Leader armor until I give her a piece of the thieves armor set. Seeing as I sold Tonilia my set to begin with this is unsolvable? I have tried killing other thieves in and out of the guild with no luck.

Please add thieves armor or pieces of the outfit to some thieves. Really easy fix! As is, can't fully complete the thieves quest-line, receive the armor and am screwed out of the achievement. Searching around I see others have had this happen already as well and am sure many more will also, thieves armor is not the best so why keep it when something better comes along?

Gerenal glitch for me:

When you find a quest object before actually getting the quest, you cannot give back the object you found. This breaks the quest.

Also, the quest of the Sword of the Eagle Aquila (sorry my game is in french, and I don't know the right translation of the quest). Everytime you read the book that gives you this quest, you get the quest over and over again (even if you already did the quest), giving you the sword that opens the door (on the dead body) a countless times.

This. So many quests are broken by this bug, should be fixed immediately.

Yet ANOTHER glitched quest. Wow Bethesda, this is getting ridiculous.

Tending the Flames
Return to the Bard's College
Bard's College

The quest points me to Viorma. I used each and every dialog option, but the quest never updates. This is the third time today that this kind of bug has occurred, on three different missions, one of which was Main Quest.

Agreed, so frustrating i cannot just drop the item and pick it back up to fix it as well.

Do away with this type of system please and label quest items as such. Not like it's going to break anyones RP moments.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but there are too many pages to dig through to find it in this particular thread.

"Death Incarnate" freezes when you embrace the Night Mother and the screen fades to black.

This happened to me three times in a row and then I unequipped all my brotherhood gear and the Volsung that I was wearing. I also had an amulet and ring on, which I removed. I got in wearing a jester's outfit and everything went smooth after that.

I had to go back about 3 hours of gameplay to before I picked up the witches head to solve the issue cant progress the companions quest until this is fixed.

Quest: The Pursuit

Bug: I met with Karliah in the cellar of the Frozen Hearth tavern, and the quest shifted to meeting her at the Thieves Guild. In this instance, she left the cellar, and the game progressed. Shortly after leaving the cellar myself, I noticed some many levels later that the marker for the location had shifted - by this time I had been across the vast majority of Skyrim, unlocking locations and completing smaller quests to gain levels. Now, when I try to visit the Thieves, they are all waiting for the supposed meeting and arrival of Karliah, only to be locked in a continued state of 'attack mode', and unable to respond or engage in conversation trees.

At this point, I am too high a level and invested in the character to warrant a restart - I'm level 32, with 40+ hours under my gaming belt, and I'm nearing the same skill state as my Oblivion character previously, after many hours of gameplay. Needless to say, I can't progress in the Thieves Guild... nor finish a component of the Assassin's Guild (explained below), and it's very disappointing.

Bug 2: Consequently, I am also unable to speak with Delvin Mallory (Thief), concerning the Assassin's Guild quest 'Where you hang your enemy's head', namely due to him being in a constant state of 'attack mode'. He is unable to activate, and simply says "We need to deal with this first.", or something along those lines.

I have the EXACT same glitch, Karliah is still standing in the cellar of the Frozen Hearth tavern. I have already progressed very far past it (at least 10 hours), its upsetting to say the least. 45+ hours into the game. Hopefully all these glithes will be patched soon. I'm almost afraid to try other quests now.

Once harvested, ore can't be collected one month later. The texture shows ore veins but nothing happens when button A is pressed ^ ^

In the investigation quest in Markarth (lovely dunmer city, don't know the name in english), the guards in the temple of Talos keep arresting me, even after i finish the associated quest.

I already spoke about this in my own topic, but its indeed a wise thing to bundle all quest-related issues.

DRAGON RISING QUEST FREEZE

I'm a level 21 character having visited all cities and gathered a lot of quests along the way.

When trying to continue the main quest the game collapses. After I take the Dragonstone to Farengar and we go upstairs to see the Jarl about the Dragons attack on the watchtower.

The Jarls says: "I've got something for you from my personal armory..." and thats when the game crashes and gets frozen.

I use a lot of saves but it happens every time! No matter what the time or if I do any other quests first. Nothing works!

I do hope Bethesda will come up with a solution because both Morrowind and Oblivion suffered from less bugs than Skyrim!

In "find the helm of winterhold" after you complete it, if you talk to the jarl he gives you the same quest again. This goes on forever. You can do this quest as many times as you want.

In "the forsworn conspiracy" when you enter the shrine of talos to talk to the quest giver and complete the quest there is only a quest marker pointing the floor, a city guard and a imperial guard. Nothing happens.

In "the house of terrors" the preist keeps standing still after entering the house and you are unable to proceed.

In "a night to remember" after you wake up at Dibela's temple the preistess asks you to clean up your mess. Once again there is only quest markers pointing the floor and no mess to clean.

There is a lot more, but I can't remember the quest's names.

Cannot complete thiefs guild last quest where you are talking to Nocturnal.. I've seen on youtube videos that Karliah appears and you talk to her after. I loaded back, looked around just when i put the key in and i see Karliah.. leaving the room. She does not appear again :( When done talking to Nocturnal, nothing happens.. at all.

edit: Quest - Darkness returns

makes it easier for people to search for the bug if it happensf or them

I'm having a similar issue. Nocturnal finishes her dialog and disappears. The quest marker is still appears, but is below the ground where Nocturnal went. I can move around the room, but can't interact with anything. If I try to talk to Karliah, it tells me that she's busy.

Only two real issues I've noticed so far in the Xbox 360 version:

- The game goes into a hard freeze on occasion during loading screens and the console must be manually restarted; this can occur whether reloading from an autosave or changing zones (and autosaving).

- In Shroud Hearth Barrow, the combination on the first door does not work (and not all traps fire on failed entry). I did attempt all 27 permutations of the code just in case, but none of the 27 worked. Initially, only one trap fired (the lower one to the left, I believe, as you face the door). Upon restarting my console, two traps fired, both on the left. Further restarting did not yield a different result. Going back to an earlier save after getting the Sapphire Claw returns me to the single trap firing.

Otherwise, the game has been extraordinarily enjoyable.

edit - I performed a cache reset on my console but it did not fix the issue. Sadly, the last other save I have is also from after getting the claw, so if it's generated then, I'm unable to repair the issue.

The companions storyline is broke for me... on the part when you get back after killing the witches, and speak to vikas to get the next quest, it wont let me continue, he says that "we are going to get them" but it just ends there, and the quest doesn't get added.

After the side quests for the bards college when you get the different instruments for the three people the instruments get stuck in your inventory after you "give" them to whomever asked for that instrument. I wouldn't care but they take up 10 pounds all together.

First off, wanted to say I have had nearly zero problems with Skyrim so far compared to other peoples troubles.. and sometimes when I thought quests were cleared but I didn't get completion, it was actually my fault (not killing a boss for example but clearing the bandits).

However, the one quest that has given me problems is the quest for the Dragon tablet at the beginning of the game in Whiterun. I did get the tablet before accepting the quest so i turned it in to the Jarls assistant and got credit for completion, BUT I did not get the Achievement for doing this quest. It is the one called "Bleak Falls Barrow". Anyone else not able to get this achievement on XBOX?

Basically in a nutsheel....I get to the end loot the body of Mercer aquire the skelaton key and eye of the famer. The chamber fills up with water and I get out, but Karliah and Bynjolf are still under water and the quest wont advance. There just walking around underwater.

I ended up leaving and started and finished a bunch of other quests thinking they will eventually leave the chamber and escape the water, but they are still under water and I cant talk to them or nothing to advance the quest.

Anyone else encounter this?

I know I should of loaded a prevous save but I ve done so much after this... it just svcks...

So I just came across what I'm pretty sure is a glitch. In the quest Forelhost: Siege on the Dragon Cult, on your way to fight Rahgot and obtain one of the words for the Storm Call Shout, their is a puzzle door that you use a Glass Claw on in order to gain access to Dragon Priest's room. My issues is that when I attempt to rotate the rings to solve the puzzle nothing happens. They don't move. I can insert the claw, but solving the puzzle is impossible because when I press the "A" button (Xbox360) the symbols don't rotate. I've tried reloading two previous saves and nothing. I might have to go back to a save an hour before which I don't mind but I just hope it's resolved cause then I have to go back 3 hours. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Found another quest glitch. SPOILER

Sorry all i forgot what it was called, but it thes quest where you collect evidence if forsworn on weylin and another person for Elsyr, once you collect the evidence and return to elsyr you are taken to prison by the guards. you get into prison rah rah go to meet the forsworn king and for thee quest you have to talk to him to you know learn his side and everything, but you also have the option to kill him. The problem is if you talk to him first and then kill him after all dialogue options are exhausted, you are unable to loot his body as it comes up that this character is busy. even though he is lying dead on the floor. You need to loot his body to obtain the key to escape. So this means that the only way of completing this quest is by doing want he wants and aiding the forsworn, so another glitch forcing you to do only one option/moral choice. I;m a nord, i want to kill the forsworn, not be forced to aid them!

EDIT: So i figured a way around this, you do as he says and aid them and when you get to the end of the escape tunnel and he gives you your stuff back, you can then kill him and all the forsworn there (though its a much harder fight as your now outnumbered 7:1 and they have all their gear as well. This lets you do the other side of the quest, instead of becoming forsworn and aiding them, of course if thats what you want then you can do that anyway. The only problem is you have to quickly attack them before they leave through the door, which they start to do the moment you recieve your items back.
Still, if they fixed the porblem with his dead body being busy after you killed him after talking, there wouldnt be any problems.

*spoiler* I am on the glory of the dead quest for the companions and everyone is just standing at the funeral the fire is lit and the companions have gone but the civilians are still ther and i believe that eorlund was supposed to talk to me but he wont and now kodlaks body is stuck on the skyforge forever along with the people. Need this to be solved to complete the companions, second glitched quest i have now.

I have the same thing. I turned into a werewolf out of sight, ran in to make everyone attack me then did a runner. This fixes everyone standing around but does NOT allow you to complete the quest. I now have the heads and fragments stuck in my inventory, a body that just floats on the skyforge and repeating quests from the surviving Companions to take out the Silver-Hand leader!!! :) All good fun

Considering on the 360 this is also an achievement I would have thought they'd fix this sharpish!

I've seen this problem on other sites.. just not yet in the first 7 pages of this topic I read before I started crying (reasons for which in the off-topic section).

Quest: Battle for Solitude
Problem: When you enter the castle door, the door locks behind you and you can't kill Tulius. Therefor you can't complete the quest nor liberate Skyrim from the Cyrodillic pests.

I think it has to do with Ulfric not coming in with you through the door, which I guess should trigger a dialogue.

The only plusside on this is that I get to kill Legion Soldiers non stop in the courtyard, which I find oddly satisfying.

((Off topic)):
I have encountered no bugs so far in the 100 hours I'm in this game. No glitches, only a single gamecrash, and this is my first stuck quest.
So I probably have no right to bring up this subject.... BUT if you believe the whole bethesda team's sole purpose is to screw you out of your money you're dead wrong. If they were going for that they would probably take up a scam that doesn't take as much effort as this.

It takes time to identify all these problems and script them to health. Cussing, pushing and demanding won't make the fixes come quicker.

Best 55 euro's I've ever spend.
