"Hired Muscle", one of the Radiant Companion quests is bugged for me. Everytime I talk to Commander Maro he just congratulates me on how I (SPOILER: Killed the Dark Brotherhood). I am really starting to get [censored] pissed off here. I have over 40 hours in and two major questlines are bugged for me. It seems that a lot of bugs could have been avoided if quest essential characters actually engaged in FULL [censored] DIALOGUE after you have done something for them. This is such and obvious oversight, I wouldn't even call it a bug. They just didn't think to check.

During one of the Thieves Guild quests, I found a model of a boat and was prompted to turn it in to Delvin which I did not problem. After finishing the rest of the quests but before returning the Skeleton Key, I found out that there was an item of that nature to be found and turned in for all of the Thieves Guild quests. I retraced my steps and went back for the other items. Now Delvin doesn't give the option to turn any of them in. I have them all in my inventory and, thinking that may have been what cause the glitch, I dropped all but one. He still didn't have any options for turn in.

Darkness Returns, she spoke to me and reentered her purple/blue pool, but it stills says to talk to her, if you call that a spoiler, god help you.

Quest: Revealing the Unseen
Glitch: The next quest does not activate

During the final phase of Revealing the Unseen (where you need to drop Ancano's ward), after the Eye of Magnus gives off the blinding light and I am told to find the arch-mage, the quest ends, and no new quest is added. I head outside and find the arch-mage's corpse in the courtyard. I cannot search him, and still no new quests are added. I cannot advance the questline through dialogue with NPCs or by doing anything else. Be aware that I don't know as to whether the arch-mage is supposed to be dead or not, as I haven't been able to proceed past this point. Regardless, the important part is that I can't start any new College of Winterhold quests regarding its main storyline. Miscallaneous quests with other NPCs can be started, but the quests involving the Staff of Magnus cannot be activated; the entire questline ends abruptly and prematurely.

Seeing as how Bethesda already addressed some quest-ending bugs, I hope that they'll fix this one, too. Thankfully, I had a manual save from before I initiated the final phase of the quest ("Report to the arch-mage."), so I'll just put it on hold while I wait for a patch. If I stay out of the Hall of Elements until then, I should be fine, hopefully.

Update: Also, after the glitch has happened, if I go back into the Hall of the Elements, Ancano will be standing outside of the ward-sphere, doing nothing, and I can talk to him as though nothing happened.

I have the exact same problem with my game as well. I just ignored it like everyone else and did some other quests.

I joined the companions but it only let me do one randomized quest before it put me onto the main quests and once i was on the main quests i was never offered any of the randomized quests.

Also I'm now the leader of the companions but i didn't get a reward and all of the people who came with me for the final quest have disappeared from the game.

in "Help Selveni Nethri escape the cave" (a miscellaneous quest) i have that problem too and if you google it a lot of people have that problem

The horn of jurgen windcaller.

After handing the horn in to Arngeir he tells me to follow him inside but he just stands there and repeats himself whenever i talk to him.
The quest is telling me to learn the word of power from Wulfgar but when i talk to him all he does is stand up and bow, then goes back to praying.

I've tried loading up a save from just before i found the note to find who took the horn but it's still the same. I've tried handing the horn in to Arngeir as soon as i get it of the woman in the bar and also after following her to the dragon burial and still the same. I've tried going off and doing other things for a while then coming back to High Hrothgar but still no luck.

Quest: Boethia's Calling

Bug: After the dialogue with Boethia through my companions dead body, she tells me to kill all the other cultists, and my qyest objective becomes: 'Slay the other Cultists', however there are no cultists there, meaning I can go no further with the quest. Also according to my friend who completed the quest without any bugs, there was a proper sacrificial dagger that he recieved for the quest, which I did not get. Yet another minor bug concerning this quest, One of the previous quest objectives is 'Find the shrine of Boethia' - this remains incomplete on my quest log, I am guessing it is because I discovered the shrine by chance before.

Wondering if anyone has had this problem too? I noticed it was not in the patch notes for 1.1, so I hope this thread gets seen by Bethesda and they fix this.

In Jarrvaskr, Vilkas won't give any quests after I've finished Glory of the Dead. I've since finished all the other Companions quests including getting the totems and curing Farkas of his lycanthropy. I would just really like to finish Vilkas's quests so I'll be completely finished with the Companions. There's also a reported error that after recovering the witches' heads and returning to Jarrvaskr, Vilkas repeats "We're going to make them pay" infinitely, so I think this NPC probably has a lot of major bugs.

College of winterhold listen to Tolfdir, on the part where he tells me he will cast a spell at me and I have to use ward he doesnt cast anything he just walks around and forces me to start talking to him. So awesome, i cant do any of the college of winterhold, I really hope bethesdas guys are reading this and gonna fix these issues in the first update.

I am using a PS, but I emailed Bethesda about this particular bug, and about the problems with text cut off and fuzziness on my SD tv, and this is what they said:

"The game requires, for PS3, an HD Video Output with either 480p, 720p, or 1080i.

For the quest not advancing, please do the following.

a. In the XMB home menu, go to (Game) > [Game Data Utility].
Important: Make sure you select [Game Data Utility]. Do NOT select [Saved Data Utility], as this will delete all of your saved games files.
b. Highlight the game data utility file (i.e., name of a particular game you have been playing) you wish to delete.
c. Press the button and select [Delete].
d. Highlight "Yes" and press the button to confirm the deletion.
e. A message indicating the file is being deleted will appear.
f. A "Delete completed." message will appear once the file has been successfully deleted.

Also, be sure that you are connected to the PSN to get the most recent patch for Skyrim."

Taking care of business quest. Brynjolf doesnt stop distracting the crowd. Im supposed to meet him in the ragged flaggen but he just stays up top in his market stall. This quest has kinda broken Riften because almost everyone in Riften has surrounded Brynjolf and will stay there 24/7.


have this problem as well

In order to become Thane of Falkreath I need to complete 3 quests for citizens. As far as I know I need to complete this quest of 'Return to Valdr'

Valdr was encoutered outside Moss Mother Cave and required medical aid, I gave him 2 health potions and cleared the cave killing/looting everything I could. Now I can't say for sure if he was outthere or not but nonetheless he is now located in the Falkreath(dead man's) Tavern and when I try to speak to him no dialogue screen pops up.

If this is not resolved I am executing everyone in the town.

This has been mentioned, but I found a dragon that won't decompose or give up the soul.

I got three words on one wall, all for 'throw voice', not sure if that's supposed to happen, as only one word was lit up.

Radiant AI. It is the system that runs the game, if you've been to say, Bleak Falls Barrow, and then take the quest for the dragon tablet, Radiant AI will move the dragon tablet to another dungeon. Uh, no. Radiant AI does not work, AT ALL. AT ALL! Wasn't this the biggest gimmick for Skyrim? The Radiant AI system, which would make gaming experience completely different for every player? Then why is every player is sent to the same dungeon for particular quests, ALWAYS find quest items in particular dungeons (before even starting those quests; according to Radiant AI, that should be impossible) and finding wild dragons in all the same areas? I know a game of this scale is damn near impossible to beta test, but you ALWAYS put the main gimmick in the game! It clearly isn't present in the least. Is it a fun game? Yes. But lying about something like that is just wrong. Especially with the amount of money getting thrown around for this. From now on, I'm ONLY buying used GOTY versions, like I did with Morrowind and Oblivion. Yeah, they've put effort into the game. But for some reason I am filled with doubt.

Just making sure this one is here.

I cleared Driftshade Refuge before starting the Companions questline (just by exploring and clearing it on my own like I do in these games) and now that I went to kill the witches, got their heads, and returned to Jorrvaskr I'm stuck. The Silver Hand killed Kodlak, but since I already cleared Driftshade Refuge the next quest won't trigger and I'm stuck with all this dead weight in my inventory.

On the same quest I've been stuck in the coffin for quite a while.

I had the same problem but I found that if you go to your xbox menu it stops the game from sticking and allows it to proceed not sure why this works or how but I have doen this several times and it has always got the game to proceed.

Urag gro-Shub wants me to get him a copy of Fragment: On Artaeum.
Although I already have it in my inventory as a Quest item, I can't give it to him and the marker just points me to the egg sac in the cave that
I received it from.

Also, does anyone know if you use the attunement sphere and runed lexicon again after Septimus Signus' quest? Because those are stuck in my inventory as quest items.

Also having this problem, only my location is different. The quest log sends me to a chest at the Lost Valley Redoubt, which I had cleared previous to receiving the quest. The book has always been marked as a quest item, so it is stuck in my inventory, but I cannot give it to him. Super frustrating, I hate these quests that both take up space in the inventory and can't be completed in the journal.

After I completed the Companion main quest I wet back to them for work. On the second "family heirloom" quest it became glitched. I have to go to Bloodlet Throne and retrieve an axe or something. When I first got the mission it wouldn't locate it on my map so I just went there and cleared out the dungeon. After that it said I completed the mission yet the diamond isnt filled in and I didn't get the axe back. When I go back to the companions it says Im still on a quest and the other members wont give me work. Anyone else get this/is there a way to fix it?

the bards quest for the lute and flute
i already picked them up in my travels
one tells me to find the lute, i already have it
the other one [flute] i keep saying to the npc 'i have found the flute'
but thats is
and all three are stuck in my inventory and instead ofd 0 weight
they count against me i cannot get rid of them
in past games items like this were 0 weight

not happy

ps the drum one worked because i got the quest to do it before i picked up said item
but still stuck with all three in inventory


and if a do a sdave inside my house, leave and come back to the game by hitting continue
all my furnishings and stuff are GONE.. i fix it by loading the game instead

in looking at this thread we have similar complaints
such as finding items before we get quest done


hmmm
i was thinking since the idea was that if you get a quest and have already been to that location the game is suppose to send you somewhere else
that you have not been to
in my case that would not work as the first thing i do is to find all of the locations [have about 300 so far]
it is how i play

so it seems you cannot find items before you get a quest as it breaks the quest, that makes for a no fun game
because you cannot just adventure for fear of picking up something too early :sadvaultboy: then you are stuck with it in your inventory forever

another broken quest is the red sword. it repeats itself everytime you read a book about it

It's possible to get stuck at the point where you're supposed to be waiting for the effect to wear off, and the quest gets stuck. I have no effect on me, and I've waited for many hours (and done a bunch of dungeons). I've tried teleporting everywhere, killing her (tells me I failed the quest), resting for days, etc. and nothing seems to work.

1. Don't know if it's been mentioned but some idiotic "fugitive" (random encounter) got me killed after deciding to start a chat with me while I was fighting a wispmother (and wisps)....of course, my attackers didn't stop the fight during our little chat.

My save game was just before the combat and whenever I would reload, the fugitive would show up and start conversation with my PC again and again...and I would die again and again...

This happened again while I was fighting some mammoth...the end result was just as gruesome.

A check to see if the PC is in combat before initiating the fugitive's dialog would be a welcome addition....

2. Also, I managed to screw up the Forsworn Conspiracy quest during the escape from Cidhna mine: I pickpocketed a note from Mandanach (whatever was his name) before killing him...then after I killed him I got a quest update telling me to check his corpse.. The game did not recognized that I already had the note in hands and I got stuck in there as the door would not open and the quest would not update.

I'm not having a problem with a quest so much as after finishing the quest to steal the horse Frost for Louis Letrush, I went back to Whiterun and did some stuff in town and when I came out to the stables to get my horse, Louis is stuck in the ground next to my horse, and a second louis is standing next to my horse.

In the Missing in Action quest, I did everything up to getting him out of the prison, but he won't leave the prison. He keeps telling me come on let's go and to hurry but won't move himself.
