I posted earlier about my Thieves Guild Questline not working. Well, I continued playing for several hours doing other quests, and when I went back to the guild to check if the problem was still happening, I found it had finally worked itself out! I am now master of the thieves guild!

More pressing, however, is the fact that I cannot continue the main quest, seeing as the throat of the world quest wont start for some reason. Anyone else having this problem?

Make that x 2, or add another to Waking Nightmare.

I can't even start the quest. As soon as I get the message that the quest started my xbox freezes. I've repeatedly tried to start the quest and it is freezes up my console every time.

Hi guys i wanted to make a topic with a list of glitch quests collected in one , so if for some reason Bethesda read it instead of looking at every topic out there, hopefully this gets stickied too.

Please include as much information about your glitched quest as possible and if your quest has already been mention , just add the name of the quest to the Glitch List and bump up the numbers

Walking Nightmare --- Got in the pub in Rorkstead -- about people having nightmares. Follow a priest to a shrine , when he enters i entered behind only to find him not in the shrine , and the shrine to be a dead end. According to his map marker he is in the 'void' . . . . also according to youtube he is meant to be in there when i enter and cast a spell on the statue at the back opening up a dungeon .

I have entered and left multiple times, and even restarted the game and installed to hard drive with no luck

Glitch List
Walking Nightmare x 1
- Quest glitch No One Escapes Cidhna Mine- Even if I submit willingly it just resets the conversation I have waited and advanced time and nothing happens but more of the same no matter what I do. After you help and aid them escape it is supposed to clear your name and make all well for you in the city (stating "I have helped Madanach escape cidhna Mine, and he and his Forsworn have taken credit for all my past crime, clearing my name in the Reach".). Problem is that it does not and everytime you enter you are confronted by guards and your only option is to exit the convo and run for your life as even if you submit just keeps repeating the same conversation over and over until you just end up ether fighting or leaveing the city.

-Marriage- My wife was slain when i got into battle and she was killed which was fine I thought i would move on and find another bride however there is no convo that allows me to do this I am wearing the amulet of Mara and I have tried talking to others who had the option before and even some new people who the guide lists as potentional mates. I really hope this is fixed as I thought it added depth to the game even though I was wishing for a bit more story like in some of Biowares titles I know this is a small glitch that has no overall effect on the game but my fiance and I thought it was a great aspect and would love to see it fixed.

Cant join the Stoarm cloaks, Start The quest for the Jagged crown, or get Ulfirc to go to the peace meating at high hrothgar because they wont respond to me.

scoundrels folly is the game breaker for me. that stupid lizard was nowhere to be found in the trading company but there was a marker that led to a rock wall like he was somehow trapped in the rocks. after a bunch of wandering I make my way through only to not find him and then have my marker tell me to go to the trading company door again. anyways the lizard is nowhere to be found and I'm stuck not finishing the thieves guild because I spent my time trying to find him on the map(which ate up my 3 auto saves). I'm not too upset but seriously, you'd think things like that wouldn't happen.

Blood on the Ice Quest: Quest was completed but it seem's i implicated the wrong person, after talking to said person i get another quest by that same name (which should have 'part 2' or something in it's name to prevent confusion...) still cannot get the Strange amulet identified even though the dialogue clearly explains what it is, result - im left with a quest item stuck in my inventory.

For Trancrening the mundane I've killed several wood elves but it does not give me the option to take thier blood.

After finishing the companions questline, Vilkas ( ID = 1A694 ) continually tries to talk to me. I have tried running away and he stalks me down to talk (pulls up dialogue).

I have resorted to locking him in a cage for now.

Edit: He keeps pulling his sword out and putting it away immediately.

Not entirely sure if this is the result of a glitched quest or not, but it does put an entry in the log, so I figured I'd mention it. *Some spoilers*

I recently discovered the Word Wall at Ancient's Ascent, and proceeded to kill the dragon there. I have already completed the main quest line, and chose *Spoiler* not to kill Paarthurnax. *End Spoiler* After slaying the dragon, a little note pops up on the screen telling me to go talk to Esbern. Once arriving there, I can't mention anything about this dragon and no other dialogue options appear to inquire about why I was supposed to go talk to him.

Performing a little test, I went and killed Paarthurnax, then went back to Esbern, and I had a new dialogue option to talk about the dragon at Ancient's Ascent. This fixes the log entry, but it's weird, considering my choice earlier should nullify any further contact with the Blades. Was wondering if anyone else was having this issue as well.

Here are the glitches and problems I have discovered.

*For players of Skyrim, beware of what you read for the quests, it does contain spoilers.*

Quest glitches:

Pantea's Flute- Talked to Pantea after finding her flute through her showing me on the map, I've seen that some people find it prior to speaking with her and experience the same problem, I "give" her the flute back, the quest is registered as completed. Alas, the flute is still in my inventory and there is no way to be rid of it.

Ill Met By Moonlight- I fast traveled to Falkreath after speaking to Hircine, the ring causes me to change into a Werewolf, the entire town dislikes Werewolves and pursuits me. I get to the jail, only to find him inside of the cell, but transformed. I leave because the town followed me into the tiny jail room. I run away far enough to wait and transform into a human again and find Sinding idly pacing in front of the Barracks in Werewolf form! No one seems to notice. I attempted to kill him but it doesn't register as completing the objective for the quest, therefore a quest I cannot finish.

Odd Problems:

In my home in Solitude there are 2 weapon racks with 5 slots, I can only place weapons in the three middle slots. The two on each end cannot be used.

Companions seem to "lose" you at random times. I'm not shimmying up mountains, they just lose me in a dungeon then I have to wait a number of hours until my companion returns to the designated home after tiring of waiting for me. They also do not follow very well either. Another problem with them is they seem to be reluctant to engage with enemies fighting me right in front of them. Their weapon is drawn but no desire to fight.

Not a problem, just my own mistake, it would be nice if I could do some sort of quest or task to allow me to reset my perks or at least take away perks I do not wan't and gain the perk points back to be appointed to useful skills I actually use. I'm sure this wont happen, but I admit it is my fault for being indecisive and using perks while unsure what the bloody hell I want done with them. I had to dabble a little bit. :P

Books in the book shelves have odd spacing sometimes with gaps in between. It would be nice if they would stay upright instead of flop over, it is understandable in terms of the physics but I can stand a few books upright in a larger space than is needed. They are also all hardcover...

While dual wielding weapons, the one in the right hand is sheathed as normal, the one in the left magically disappears.

Talking to companions and asking them to wait or do something is a bit iffy also. The pulsing icon showing where they will go or what to do will be there after giving them a command, on top of the fact that they have a hard time completing the command. After attempting the command the pulsating icon will be present if you strike up conversation with the companion again causing you to tap 'A' a few times in order to get to the conversation options.

Many of these are just petty complaints, but the small things really add up to the immersion.

Shalidors Insight quest led me to a cave or church. Can't remberibg but I think it was a cave. It showed me it was in a spider sack, I already cleared the cave efore I got the quest. Anyway I couldn't get the book where the marker was. I just found the book doing a quest called The Wolf Queen Awakened.
Also Pantea's flute quest. I got the flute somewhere on a different quest before I received the quest and can not give the flute, drop, sell, or store it. It's just stuck in my inventory.

I know some of these post are "petty" things. But I didn't pay $60 for non functioning game. Releasing a patch a week after thanksgiving is a smack in the face if you ask me. After all it only took what, a decade to come out with a new elder scrolls.

Issue: Current objective says to talk to one of the greybeards and he will teach you the word written on the floor, and I have gone through all the dialogue with the one greybeard that will speak to you and showed him 4 shouts and the other greybeards still will not speak to me.

Purity of Revenge never starts for me. After I returned from killing the witches to find kodlak has been killed Vilkas says we must go finish them once and for all but then all anyone does is just stand around kodlaks body and two of them are just standing outside. I've waited days to see if this can be fixed but to no avail and no dialogue options are given to me about quests from any of the members.... plz address this asap.

In Jarrvaskr, Vilkas won't give any quests after I've finished Glory of the Dead. I've since finished all the other Companions quests including getting the totems and curing Farkas of his lycanthropy. I would just really like to finish Vilkas's quests so I'll be completely finished with the Companions. There's also a reported error that after recovering the witches' heads and returning to Jarrvaskr, Vilkas repeats "We're going to make them pay" infinitely, so I think this NPC probably has a lot of major bugs.
Im having that problem as well after the quest with witches heads :(

The three quests I'm having an issue with is "Return the the Jarl of Riften" but when I talk to her, she has nothing new to say to me.
Number two is "Blood on the Ice" Calixto is stuck inside my house due to me breaking in beforehand, and I can go no further in the quest. Simple fix would be to not make the door pickable.
Number three is "Ask Aldis for information about Angeline's daughter", in which the stormcloaks now have the city, and aldis seems to be inside a wall in the castle dowry.

Not entirely sure if this is the result of a glitched quest or not, but i cannot get any follower's to.......well to follow thay all say thay can't come cos i'v already got a follower..... i do not have a follower a horse yes a follower....no.
Fendal..The first follower i met would not come??? any idea's? :swear: :banghead:

after killing ulfric to end the civil war it goes to quest being completed but it says no questline has been completed and people still seem to act like there is a civil war. i beat that quest 1 in game year ago

I don't know the name of the quest but this is my problem:

Doing some other quests, I came across some unusual gems. I saw there was a misscellaneous quest about these gems, "Bring the Unusual Gem to an uppraiser". The uppraiser is located in Riften. The only problem I have is this: the guy doesn't even want to talk to me. So I'm stuck with these gems in inventory. Anyone know a solution?

This has more than likely already been said but, I can't get the amulet fragment in Geirmund's Hall, I cleared dungeon for another quest first and now the quest marker for Forbidden Legend is In the ground in the boss room.

Does anyone know If the boss drops the amulet even if you don't have Forbidden Legend quest going, and I sold it on my first run through of Geirmund's Hall? ( I doubt it if its anything like the first frgament i found +30 Health, I would still be wearing it lol)

Really svcks I wanna finish the quest!

One other person has mentioned this earlier. I also have this problem. I haven't finished reading this thread so thus far there are 3 of us.

However, It is more importent to work on the main quest bugs, then the guild quest bugs...so I am afraid you and I will probably have a long wait before this is fixed.

Quest: Proving Honour
Problem: Cannot receive next quest

I finished this quest by giving the fragment of Wuuthrad to Skjor. It flashed up 'completed' on the screen. Skjor says to talk to him later. At this point I go and do 'The Blessings Of Nature', 'In My Time Of Need' and a bounty i think.

When I go back to speak to Skjor for a new quest all he says is that I still need to prove myself, and the dialogue options are just general questions about the Companions, which do not further anything. On looking at my quest log, 'Proving Honour' is in the completed section, however the last objective 'Return to Joorvaskr' is not completed. No matter what I do I cannot further the Companions quests now, which is obviously a substantial section of the game. Unfortunately my saves only go back 7 hours, which is after I finished this quest. Or thought I had.
So now I'm not playing the game at all. I could do other stuff but if they can't fix this I'll have to restart anyways, so I'm not doing that. As it stands I've already lost 24 hours playtime if this is not fixed, and I'm not adding to that thanks.

This is extremely disappionting. I'm sure this won't be patched as no-one else has reported it and the patch has already been submitted for 'testing' (LOL!!). Apparently the patch won't be until Dec. Great!!!!! Thanks Bethesda!! Please test your games better in future (I know you won't though). Maybe shoulda avoided the whole release date 11.11.11 crap and just release when it was ready. I was stuck for 20 days in Fallout 3 until you patched it eventually. In Fallout: New Vegas I had to give up due to my save crashing after 20 hours play, and that NEVER got fixed. So I sold the game as I couldn't be bothered repeating 7 hours playtime (my fault for not saving, I know). However this time I have 7 hours of saves and it's still not enough to sort this glitch out.

PLEASE SORT YOUR LIVES OUT BETHESDA!!

Glitched quest: Scoundrel's Folly (for thieves guild)

I left to screen for a minute when I was supposed to "shadow" Gulum. Now when I try to find him is marker is outside of the city, but the game tells me to go back inside every time I leave to find him.
I don't really want to go back to later save because I thought if I left and cleared a few dungeons enough time would pass that he would reset, but no.

Sorry if this has been listed, but I'm not reading through 20 pages of glitches:

Blood on the Ice/ Dark Brotherhood Crossover Quest Glitch:

I am unable to buy the windhelm house because the butcher quest (Blood on the Ice) won't trigger due me completing the quest line for the dark brotherhood before starting it. Apparently I have already killed the butcher in a quest for Dark brotherhood storyline which in turn prevents the butcher from ever doing his killing in the graveyard and thus I never get to trigger the quest and never get to buy the windhelm home. This is by farrrr the most irritating bug I have found in the game and I can do nothing to fix it unless I restart as another character and replay for another 70 hours which is never gonna happen. Pleaseeeee please please do something to fix this quest triggering prior to the next patch coming out!!!!! That would be really awesome. Thanks.
