Got any 'wtf' moments in Skyrim? #2

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 4:12 pm

Not so much a WTF, but more of a reminder why not to mess with Riften folk....

I've finished the main quest and for awhile dragons just seemed to ignore me. Well, apparently they've decided to come after me again. One attacked inside Riften...something that hadn't happened before for me. At first only the guards were helping out with the attack, but eventually everyone outside got in the fray. When the dragon finally landed in the space between the Keep and the orphanage, EVERYONE descended upon the dragon. The lag on my computer was crazy. I wish I had thought to use the tilda and take a picture of 20+ characters wailing on the dragon. I think I only hit it once with my bow; I couldn't even get near it to give the final blow due to the lag and amount of people in the way. Did absorb the soul anyway.

No characters perished in the attack, either. Even Maven got in on the action. I was astounded by how tough those Riften folks are.

While i'm thinking about it, i can recall doing the speech trick in black briar meadory with that elf barman, when all of a sudden Maven Black Briar herself was standing right behind him glaring at my character while the barman was doing his warning speech.

Oh yes! This happened to me as well, and it cracked me the F up! I was like, "Dude - psst... shut up... dude!"

Was just wandering through Markarth, doing my shopping when a wandered past and said, "You're like me, eh? Don't fancy those clunky two-handed weapons." I didnt think much of it til he'd gone past and I saw he had an Iron Greatsword equipped!

No matter what, whenever I make a new character, wether on Xbox or PC, at the part where you kill the second dragon that Alduin brings up, there are two female naked Stormcloack soldiers just floating there just down the road from the burial sight.

On PC though, it's even more of a wtf moment because I have the nvde female mod.

In Kynesgrove? I had a male and a female Stormcloak floating there, in their undies, but with all their equipment in their inventories. (I'm on PS3.)

The arrow range cap is pretty annoying.

NPCs have randomly started being unhittable.

Everything from people to wolves, your shots go wide or bounce off invisable force fields . No damage, no hits.

The Companions keep appearing in the oddest places.

I saw Vilkas and Ria wandering round a snowy path near winterhold.
Farkas, Aela and the dunmer one wandering round solitude.
Weird.

Stormcloaks keep appearing in random places. Just running about or fighting people.

Was running from the guards so I went into Breezehome and set a fire rune at the door. They never come so I leave. Come back 6 hours later and Nazeem does the "follow me inside" bug where he proceeds to patronize me about the Cloud District. The rune explodes, killing him instantly. I'm not heartbroken, but he might have knocked a few plates off my shelf and I could have sworn those runes had an expiration period.

Going on my merry way minding my own business when I came close to Skyborn Altar. I decided to grab that word of power and ended up fighting the dragon. I was backed into the alcove of the word wall during the battle and had just hit the dragon with Marked for Death. I then sink two or three glass arrows in his scaly butt and he starts to crash land. He actually landed beneath the level of the mountain that I was on, but ended up sliding up the mountain and right over the top of me in a strange visual sequence. My vision was completely blocked by dragon butt when the dragon stopped sliding and then I fired one last arrow and ended it.

I didn't take any damage from the dragon's crash landing, but the brief sequence had me scratching my head a bit. Either way, I got a Word of Power, a dragon soul along with some bones and scales.

I had finished the civil war quest with the Stormcloaks winning. I made my way from Windhelm to Riften and had gotten about halfway to Kynes Grove what do I spy but a patrol of three Imperials with a Stormcloak prisoner heading north, with no way for them to avoid Windhelm....

No wonder the Empire has been on a losing streak. Their soldiers are idiots.

I really regret not turning around and following them just to see what happened next.

Minor wtf for me, MAJOR wtf for my "I'm a true Nord" character: The man who's supposed to hate elves, Ulfric Stormcloak, keeps insisting on giving her Elven weapons. Three out of three so far, including the Axe of Eastmarch. Is this suppose to happen or is it just a coincidence?

RP wise, I made it a joke between them ;)

They start screaming "We're routed! Fall back!" as they get attacked and clobbered to death by Stormcloak guards. I might not have finished the civil war, but the soldiers are dumb no matter what. And that goes for both sides, unless you'd call a Stormcloak courier passing Whiterun very close by clever ...?

Anyway, I was traveling around with Erandur for a while, and was on a quest to retrieve a book at Haemar's Shame for the College. The place was still completely clear (bug probably, it's been quite a while since I did the quest with Barbas), and as I was looting some valuable arrows and money from a chest, Erandur suddenly told me: "I've been enjoying this journey with you. Not for the wealth we've accumulated, but just being able to carry Mara's will to every corner of Skyrim". It was quite an awkward situation, it sounded like he was somehow very very indirectly saying not to take the money, and I dunno, the quote rather seems like a "Goodbye and thanks for all the fish" to me. I was worried he'd suddenly leave me. His comments up 'til then hadn't been all that positive towards my character.
Anyway, as it turned out, he never left me on his own, so I decided to go in a straight line to the Temple of Mara at Riften as a present. Turned out he had a line for that specific place as well! I was quite pleased with that little surprise.

I'm in The Reach walking along the road with Uthgerd and we pass a noble on horseback. We get to a fork in the road and I check my map only to notice I was heading in the wrong direction from where I wanted to go. So we started back and there is no noble, but the horse is still there; however, the horse is standing still. It's frozen in place- in a walking pose (and it's making horse noises) but there is no movement.

So I attack it and it takes damage but only from a certain angle (wtf?). I eventually kill the horse but then Skyrim closes on me without any warning. The horse never moved when I attacked it (but it whinnied as though injured).

wtf Skyrim?!

And then there was the time when I was strolling up the mountainside in Whiterun Hold when not just one, but 3 Bandit Chiefs, plus two normal bandits attacked me. (Mind you, I was playing on Master difficulty and just about cried "mercy" as I ran away.)

While I was Fighting Krosis on Shearpoint a Stormcloak courier ran up to me and then ran away straightafter with Krosis chasing after him dont know why he chased him but I found it very amusing I was laughing and could imagine the Benny Hill music playing as he chased him nearly all the way down to Fellglow Keep (That courier will not be making an apearance again  while I'm in the middle of fighting)

Literally 5 minutes ago, I was playing and I was asked to do a Radiant Quest for Vilkas. Retrieve a blah blah blah from Morvunskar. Easy enough. However when I got inside the dungeon I found Sanguine taking on 6 or 7 warlocks, and kicking their asses. Since he gave me the Rose, I decided to help him out. After we killed them all, I tried talking to him, not getting any more of an answer than "what do you want." It was pretty awesome.

Yesterday I was fishing, swimming around in deep water minding my own business when a dragon flew into the water and started crawling across the bottom towards me. Dragons can shout under water. :(
