Got any 'wtf' moments in Skyrim? #2

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:29 am

I was on the road to Rorikstead one evening, when I see a Stormcloak Courier storm(cloak) past me. I run up to him and press the 'A' button (like I do to every individual in Skyrim).

He says something, then runs off. I chase him into Rorikstead to 'A' him again, and as soon as he gets there a Rorisktead Guard shoots him in the knee abdomen... and he falls - dead on the ground.

I was like wtf?

I love those Imperial Couriers showing up in stormcloak held territories (or vice versa). i learned the first time I saw it happen, if you help them kill the courier, you incur a bounty...o.O

Later learned if you attack Thalmor agents without provoking them through speech first...you incur a bounty.

The hell kind of law system is that? IF THE ENEMY IS IN YOUR TERRITORY AND I KILL THEM, Y U NO PAY ME REWARD?

Before I went to High Hrothgar I stole a key from Nazeem (punk). After my training some hired thugs show up in the courtyard just after I finish the long conversation with Arngeir! Nazeem never really bothered me, but now like so many others he's on my kill list. So I was wearing robes and no armor and they turned hostile quickly so I was worried about getting one-shotted by one of the 2-handers but the greybeards froze them all with their shouts! It was a quick but sweet battle and I have a thing about equipping armor during combat so they saved my ass.

I get the Thalmor hunting me, I am at 100 sneak and so very hard to find. Three Death Squad Thalmor come down the road, I sneak to the road side and they start with "Is someone there". They eventually find me, and I attack back with typical consequences for the Thalmor (three more Thalmor High Elf bodies for the bears to eat). I love their notes. Got a wall of them.

Can we get a Civil War Mod that joins the Stormcloaks and the Imperials against the Thalmor, they have already shown their hands.

Also, in an animal cave, a bear starts chasing a rabbit, and the rabbit runs behind me. Twirpy rabbit. I had to kill the bear.

So, I do the "In my time of need" quest, help the woman, kill all the Alikr and the leader, get back to Whiterun, get my reward and everything seems great.
Then, being away for a while I return to Whiterun, then seeing two Alikr Warriors just standing inside the gates. Try to talk with them, but they're just being polite with no dialogue options. Wtf? I got back to Saadie to see if there was maybe a follow-up to the quest, but she has no dialogue either and everything seems just fine.

I've later been told it's a bug, but it was really a 'wtf' for a long time :P

Last night was my first awesome moment where I saw three dragons flying in the sky. I've seen two before (usually fighting each other before they notice me), but I knew it was a glitch because the third dragon was a duplicate of the second, not only in appearance, but in flight patterns. It confirmed itself when the first dragon killed the second, and the third one instantly disappeared. Bummer. It would have been awesome to acquire 3 dragon souls in less than 2 minutes.

Another glitch I've seen was in Whiterun, and Jorrvaskr was completely gone, replaced with a hole in the game where another level was "below" it. I was too chicken to walk over to it. I didn't want to be clipped to death.

Floating weapons, I thought, were part of the game.

The biggest glitch I've run across is when the game just freezes and I have to restart the console. :swear:

But despite these glitches, a very small price to pay for the awesome this game is.

On my last PS3 playthru before I returned it I gave Riften to the Imperials. Every time I returned there the town gaurds were murdering the imperial gaurds in the streets; and no one seemed to care. I went to help out the Imps, only to get a bounty and attacked by both sides?

I think that was the final straw in the decision to get the PC version.

Had my sneaky character out and about...
Was killing Foresworn for fun and profit.
Slipped up behind a Briarheart and since I was also practicing pickpocketing, I would always take something then backstab them, so I peaked into his inventory and saw a briarheart and took it, easy enough....The Briarheart boss fell over dead...WTF??!!

Took a minute or two for the penny to drop and me to figure out taking the Briarheart is taking the heart from him.......cool, it is now how I like to kill them if I can.

Not so much wtf, but an annoyance.

Brynjolf's forced dialog always annoys me, but the line he uses makes no sense. He just approached my latest toon with that "never done an honest days work for all that coin you carry" line...which in FACT was aquired doing honest labor. 10,000 gold saved up by chopping wood and working the mill in riverwood is about as honest as you can get.

Lazy dike. Wish I could rampage through the thieves guild like I can for the DB.

I came to Winterhold and the whole city started to attack me without provocation and no criminal history, maybe because i was mage and they don't like mages in that city.

I just had a "naked" courier show up. Not the first time, but all this one would do is repeatedly say, "I've got a message for you. You're hands only." He'd never give me the message and kept repeating it over and over.

It's very disturbing to have a guy wearing nothing but a loincloth following you around Whiterun constantly saying he has something for "Your hands only...." :ermm:

I had my huntress exploring a cave yesterday and she stumbled across a bear. No problem - nothing a few quick arrows couldn't fix. Except that despite aiming directly at the creature, not a single one of the projectiles hit their mark. The first two only startled it, at which point it VAULTED UP INTO THE FREAKIN' CEILING. Panicked at this point by the thought that she was dealing with an invincible bear that can phase through solid matter, she began a strategic retreat. The bear dropped back down from the ceiling at this point, though, so she figured it wouldn't hurt to give this Daedric beast one more shot. Literally. She crept up closer, past what she supposed was the bear's impenetrable magical anti-projectile shield, and loosed a few arrows at point blank. Glitched monstrosity vanquished!
Unlucky woman that she was, she bumped into two more abominations later on that day. Two deer that, when shot, seemed to solidify in place, still standing and staring blankly into the distance. Instant taxidermy? Who knows. She got the heck away from them as fast as she could and drowned the day's trauma in ale like a proper Nord.

When I stopped by Riften, I saw the ENTIRE town gang up and attack Maven Black-Briar for no reason. It was funny seeing all the guards and vendors attack Maven while she shot lightning. Still wondering how that happened.

I was walking from Whiterun the other day going towards the western watchtower. It's a nice bright sunny day... and there's a werewolf standing on the side of the road. I drew my sword and slowly walked up to it and no reaction. I even had a "talk" option but it wouldn't talk to me. I think there's a part of the travelers mod that is supposed to bring more werewolves into the game but this is the first one I've come across. I didn't expect them to just be hanging out though. :P

And of course, also with that mod. I now come across naked travelers now and then.

I've had something similar happen when I played on my Xbox (bought new computer and PC version now). I had (whattheheckisthename) the Skyforge? disappear. I think some of the rock side was there but no steps and no upper area where the forge and all that are supposed to be. Luckily I learned to save a lot from Oblivion.

Friday night I was leaving Hrogthgar with my follower whatshername the unbroken... decided to walk as it was fairly late at night and I wanted to hit the inn for some drinks. Bout half way down the mountian I noticed she had fallen behind, not exactly uncommon so I kept going. No she didn't fall behind she fell off the effing planet. I'll likely find her corpse in a rockfall somewhere at the base of the mountian but so far I have been unsucsesful. Damnit I'd just decked her out in good gear as well, I wouldn't mind so much if I could at least retrieve my stuff.

Unbroken my ass, she is the weakest follower I've ever had.

Just had a naked courier run up to me as well with "your hands only" speech. Was a letter about the Dawnstar museum. Guy's going all out to get his letters out there. I think the courier is naked due to me robbing one earlier of his clothes and message but didn't kill him. You find neat things when you take other people's mail.

Nah. I get naked couriers all the time, and I've never pickpocketed a courier.

My naked person is the courier. It kind of freaks me out and I don't want to touch the letter he's delivering. :shudder:
Happened to me, too. He was naked except for a cowl, it looked so hilarious that I laughed into my mic so hard that I hut my friends ear. :P

The best WTF moment for me was when i had to meet up with Delphine to start a quest to sneak into a party. As soon as i started talking to her a ancient or elder dragon flew down and tossed her. I got out of the dialogue box and ran after her and the dragon, the entire time i was fighting the dragon it was throwing her around, the dragon didn't touch me, it was too busy throwing delphine around. When it happened all i seen was a dragons head snap her up and tossed her while she was talking. I didn't hear a dragon before hand. Its like the dragons sent a assassin after her.
