GTA V thread 2

You're not getting a half assed San Andreas. You're getting a full Los Santos.

This. People need to stop thinking of this as San Andreas 2 but with less space.

I'm a little disappointed it's not Miami I mean Vice City, but this could be good.

It also looks like it's modern era instead of some time in the past, which for me might mean the radio stations svck even more than in San Andreas.

Most important: bring back the fun of Vice City and especially San Andreas. There was some seriously awesome and fun stuff added in San Andreas that should be expanded upon, not eliminated.

No!!, your getting a full Los Santos, don't speak for me please!!. i can decide for myself. thanks

Wow, take it easy. If you get so aggitated over this game you might want to avoid internet discussions on it.
What I write is obviously my opinion, and writing 'you' instead of 'I' might have been my fault, but don't take things so serious, especially not over the internet.

There are always gamers around who want everything to be like their memory of what an old game was like, except fully updated for new hardware, but sold at the same price and developed in the same amount of time as the old game. Developers ignore them because they want the impossible.

Judging by that shot of the mountain range, I'm guessing this will be the first GTA not to be self-contained on an island/islands. I'm curious to see how they implement game world barriers. I also want to know how much countryside we'll have to explore.

Can't wait for it, I just have a knowing feeling inside that it will be good. I don't really care whether it is like San Andreas or IV, I loved them both equally in their own ways, although I think San Andreas was more fun to play.

Hold on mate, you can hardly say your reply was friendly, and it certainly wasn't a discussion from your comment, you were "telling me", so i told you back, i was merely replying in kind, and you did say "you" instead of "i",

Now your telling me about the internet and to avoid it, i've been on it since the late 90's, so i know a little about it, i'll post my opnions while respecting yours maybe different, is that ok with you, and i am totally calm.

I wonder how they will block off parts of the map until you progress through the story; LA doesn't have any bridges to block.

Wait, maybe they won't block off parts of the map, like Chinatown Wars.

Hopefully the map will be done as they did in Red Dead Redemption, where it wasn't islands like in past GTAs, but just a piece of a map that you're currently dealing with. I'd hate to see Los Santos turned into a island, and think it would be a lot better to have it does as an RDR type map.

I hope they include all those easter eggs from the countryside in SA, would be highly dissapoint if they're not in.

Seems people are upset that this isn't SA 2.

I actually don't mind this. I hope they make LV and SF as the spin off (Or whatever you want to call them) games.

There's a lot of people on here expecting the impossible...

I for one cannot wait for this sure to be GOTY.

Maybe they might even include Las Venturas and San Fierro as some sort of expansion pack, the likes of TBoGT and LaD. All I know is that I have the utmost confidence in the people at Rockstar to give me a grand game that I will enjoy for many, many hours.

No they couldn't. Do you seriously think they could include the whole of San Andreas at the level of detail GTA IV had? San Andreas managed it because it was so incredibly sparsely detailed.

This.

Personally, I'd like one big, more involved city, than multiple [censored] detailed cities.

I doubt I'd get this if it was just Los Santos. I was hoping for a Las Venturas redepiction. I hated Los Santos, and spent most of my time in SF or LV, so I guess this GTA will be one that I sit out.

I'm sure the depiction of Los Santos will be a bit better, and different than in SA. Just a teeny bit.

People need to value quality over quantity more carefully. And as said before, if you want a do whatever you want sandbox and don't care about detail, play Minecraft.

He was acting in a calm, respectful way. No need to blow up at him. When someone says "you" over the internet, they don't have power over you (unless they are a mod/admin) and you shouldn't take it as if they think they do.

And with "I'll post mine while respecting yours may be different". Is like saying "I'll say whatever I want and what you say means nothing to me."

San Andreas is the 3rd best selling game of all time according to wiki, so GTA 4 sales make no difference to the viewpoints of GTASA fans, i'll still play V, but it won't be the same.

San Andreas is the best selling PS2 game and it was the third best selling game ever. Right now no GTA game is even in the top ten, they're all Nintendo. I'll roughly repeat what I said before:
San Andreas is a damn good [censored] amazing game and deserves all of the praise that's heaped on it. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA IV are at fifth and sixth respectively on the list of the highest reviewed games ever and it made $500 million in the first week which made it, at the time, the fastest selling game ever and despite what San Andreas-only fans want, Rockstar is not going to ignore this.

Derp, pay attention. I'm not complaining about 'lack of size' I'm complaining that the part of the map of San Andreas they're doing is the part I never liked. Had it been Las Venturas or San Fierro, I'd be happy. So your whole 'want to do whatever you want go play Minecraft' comment is essentially worthless. I don't like the look of GTA V so far because I don't like Los Santos. A good 80% of Los Santos was a dump, and if it's based on modern LA, that's not going to be changed anytime soon. So I do value quality over quantity. Last time we saw Los Santos it was all hip hop, ghetto and just trash. If this pulls off a more appealing Los Santos of glitz than one of 'IM GANGSTA YO!!!!' then maybe.

I'm pretty sure that if they did Las Venturas or San Fierro, instead of Los Santos, the streets would be just as filthy, and even more so with R*'s try and Las Venturas which would be twice or more, filthy, than Los Santos. I don't think they're going for the 90s Los Santos vibe anymore, it would be stupid if they did, especially seeing who the Protagonist probably is (the old guy). Plus, the gangster vibe of Los Santos was right for '92.

There's more to Los Santos and the real LA, than just the old 90s Gangster Rap scene.

Another reluctant criminal protagonist? Really, Rockstar? I'm not saying it's going to be just like Nico, but after hearing it in IV and RDR, it's getting a wee bit thin.

Silly me. I get so riled up.

@Strangelove- In general, I just don't find Los Angeles interesting. It's no different than any other city, the rich on top, and the poor struggle, and the price of living is ridiculously high. I love Vegas because it at least tries to appeal some sense of beauty. (Well, the strip anyway, then again, the strip is all its own place and etc.

This is what they do. In terms of the protagonists, its more about their personalities than anything else; they are all metaphors for the same character. Rockstar uses the same template in every one of their games. Try to get away from criminal life, get svcked back in somehow, ally/friend/guy you work for betrays you blah blah balh. Expecting originality from them is foolish at best.

Pretty sure every main character in GTA since they actually started having a story has been a reluctant gangster. The choice is either a reluctant one or a sociopathic one, and the reluctant ones give more storytelling opportunities.

I'm only quoting the Wikipedia site, as i stated, what you say could be true, although i'm pretty sure MW2 broke that record, you could provide links if you want to, but your last point doesn't make much sense to me, how is GTA 4 anything to do with, the location of V and San Andreas, i'm not hating on GTA 4, nor is to blame for GTA V's seemingly only 1 city, i don't think sales of either game influence Rockstar's decision about V.

alot of fans of the series including me are dsappointed that it's set in San Andreas, but seems to be only one city, which fans are allowed to express.
